New EXP and RPAs · on 7/14/2009 6:10:56 PM 5376
We've changed how RPAs work again, to better reflect how the new system is supposed to work.

Basically, under the previous system, RPAs dramatically increased your drain rate, having an effect of kicking back the wall cycle, as well as giving some bonus bits whenever you drained.

Now, the drain rate modifier has basically been taken entirely out of RPAs.

Before you complain, though... instead now RPAs are even more focused on the 'extra experience' aspect. All exp granting actions while under the effect of an RPA will give more incoming experience (your pools will fill faster), and the amount of free bits you get when pulses occur has been increased even more.

So, to reiterate, with an arbitrary number example.

Bob does an action worth 200 exp. Now with his RPA, he gets 220 exp instead. When that 220 pulses out, he will actually get 250 exp or so while still only having spent 220 bits from his pool.

We made this change to further our goal of emphasizing not needing to train like a madman, and make RPAs more enjoyable for casual players while still making them an extremely potent tool for the hardcore among you. This way everyone should get to enjoy the awesomeness that is RPA, at least until you run out of those juicy points. ;)

As an aside, New EXP and New PP (as well as this) are now in TF.
