Raven Gate
The Raven Gate
The Raven Gate marks Hibarnhvidar's eastern edge.
The Gate Itself
Visitors to Hibarnhvidar will see the outside portion of the gate upon reaching the city.
The two leaves of the gate are made of heavy balks of oak set in an iron frame. The timbers are bolted in place through three broad bands of wrought iron. In the arch above the gate is a big bell, perhaps for use as an alarm.
As one leaves the city, the gatehouse itself is revealed.
The eastern gatehouse of the outer city is a grand edifice of granite pierced through by an arch wide enough to pass several caravans at once. Massive doors of thick timber reinforced by bands of sturdy iron stand ready to protect the citizens of Hibarnhvidar. Tall statues of black ravens flank the archway, proving why the locals commonly refer to the passage as the Raven Gate.
Statues at the Gate
Kertigen's Ravens stand watch over those entering and leaving the city. They are two massive statues carved from obsidian.
