Cardamom and thyme add their spicy notes to the smell of grilling lamb carried on drifts of smoke emerging from two deep barbecue pits that flank a pale gold tent. Designed to handle large cuts of meat, each pit is lined with river stones that must have been carried here for just this purpose. Almost hidden behind the large turnspit placed over one of the pits is the diminutive and fierce proprietor of Horse Clan's finest eating establishment, 'The Lamb's Shank'. You also see Madikh, a felt-covered table.
