Forging hammers are crafting tools used in the various metalworking techniques (Blacksmithing, Weaponsmithing, and Armorsmithing).

See Crafting Tools for details.

Creation and Repair

Forging hammers can be created using forging techniques that fall under the Blacksmithing discipline.

Likewise, their repair falls under the same skills, with standard processes for metal tool repair.

Templates

Forging hammers use material hardness to derive their effectiveness.
(Low carbon steel was used for the durability cap, and high carbon steel was used for speed cap.)

  Durability Cap Speed Cap
Type Difficulty Weight Durability Speed Cap Durability Speed
Store Bought - 60 2 - very delicate 3 - extremely ineffective
<metal> diagonal-peen hammer 2 - easy 12 x density 9 - average construction 5 - not very effective 2 - very delicate 5 - not very effective
<metal> cross-peen hammer 3 - simple 12 x density 6 - somewhat unsound 6 - sort of effective 1 - extremely weak 7 - rather effective
<metal> straight-peen hammer 5 - s. challenging 12 x density 11 - rather reinforced 4 - very ineffective 3 - quite fragile 4 - very ineffective
<metal> ball-peen hammer 7 - complicated 12 x density 2 - very delicate 8 - very effective 1 - extremely weak 9 - exceptionally effective
