Wield
Draws a weapon or shield from inventory into an empty hand and remembers its source container for the SHEATHE command.
WIELD <weapon>

You see: You draw out your <weapon> from the <container>, gripping it firmly in your right hand.
Others see: <Name> draws forth <weapon>.

WIELD <two-handed weapon>
You see: You draw out your <weapon> from the <container>, gripping it firmly in your right hand and balancing with your left.
Others see: <Name> draws forth <weapon>.

Syntax

  • WIELD <WEAPON>
Searches inventory for the weapon or shield and draws it into an empty hand, preferring the right hand.
  • WIELD LEFT <WEAPON>
Draws the weapon or shield into the left hand.
  • WIELD RIGHT <WEAPON>
Draws the weapon or shield into the right hand.
  • WIELD LEFT|RIGHT <WEAPON> IN (MY) <CONTAINER>
Searches only the specified container and draws the weapon or shield into the designated hand.

Without a specified container, WIELD searches weapon containers before general-purpose containers. WIELD prefers the right hand when both hands are empty and uses the left hand when the right is occupied.

Game Helpfile

Syntax:
WIELD [WEAPON] to default to an empty hand.
WIELD (LEFT|RIGHT) [WEAPON] -- Specifies hand to draw to.

To specify a specific container to draw a weapon from, type:
WIELD (LEFT|RIGHT) [WEAPON] IN (MY) [CONTAINER]

Note: WIELD and SHEATHE verbs work in tandem to track the container the weapon was
drawn from. For full SHEATHE functionality, use WIELD to ready your weapon.

Notes

  • WIELD works with weapons and shields. Other items are refused unless an item has special scripted support for the command.
  • SHEATHE returns a wielded item to the container from which it was drawn.
  • Wielding a weapon updates abilities that grant bonuses based on the melee weapons held. These abilities account for weapons in both hands and may apply to brawling when appropriate.
