General Information

Quarter staff weapons generally include anything about man-height that is pole-shaped and used to bludgeon your opponent. Some can strike from pole range, while others are confined to melee.

Most of these weapons are heavy, ranging between 40 and 70 stones, and do moderate to heavy impact damage. Their balance and suitability for strength are generally average, as is their construction. Most of them take two hands to wield and combining that limitation with their all around mediocrity tends to leave a bit to be desired. Far different, however, are the (now rare) old staffs. Player-made staffs were once able to range between 10 and 50 stones. A 10-stone heavy impact weapon that can strike from pole range is nothing to sneeze at.

Carving Staffs

Staffs can be carved from branches at any skill level. The process takes a few moments and requires a carving knife and a branch, which can be foraged in most any wooded area. Taking the knife in one hand and the branch in the other, type CARVE MY BRANCH WITH MY KNIFE. A few carves later, you will be rewarded with a staff of random type and description. These weapons all appraise exactly the same and have the same weight.
