Chop
Combat maneuver that makes a slow, heavily fatiguing slice attack with a held melee weapon, trading balance for damage. It is one of the specific maneuvers that make up weapon combos.
Unknown

The CHOP command brings a held melee weapon down edge-first on an opponent. It is the heavy slice attack, and the edged counterpart of BASH.

Syntax

  • CHOP
Attack the enemy you are already engaged with, or pick a new one if you are not engaged.
  • CHOP <enemy>
Attack the indicated enemy.
  • CHOP <enemy> <body part>
Attack the indicated enemy, aiming for the named body part.
  • CHOP LEFT <enemy>
Attack with the weapon in your off hand, training Offhand Weapon skill alongside the weapon skill.
  • CHOP HELP
Basic syntax help. CHOP HELP FULL gives the maneuver's mechanical profile, and CHOP HELP LIST lists the other combat options.

Detailed Information

Chop is a damage dealing maneuver.
Chop tends to be a extremely fatiguing maneuver. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.
Chop tends to be unbalancing.
Chop is a slow maneuver, but heavy or unbalanced weapons can slow the attack further.
Chop is more accurate than most maneuvers, and is best suited to slice weapons and least suited to both puncture and impact weapons.
Chop temporarily penalizes all defenses, but is equally suited to both evasion and parry defenses and least suited to shield defenses.

Notes

  • CHOP, BASH, LUNGE and SWEEP all share a minimum roundtime. See Roundtime for the figures by weapon weight.
  • Chop remains available while grappled, which locks out DRAW.
  • Because chop is unbalancing and extremely fatiguing, it is normally spent from a high balance built up with FEINT rather than repeated.
