Description: Failure of the Forge is an unusual warding pattern which allows the magician to cloak themself in an aura of aural dissonance. If an attack lands against the spellcaster, the dissonance lashes out, imbuing any weapon in the attacker's hands with distracting harmonics. In effect, this makes the weapons temporarily less suited for combat, though the discerning magician should beware that this magical counter-attack does nothing to cushion them against the initial blow.
Effect: Token amount of damage reduction. Debuffs weapons held by aggressors.
Example Messaging: Cast:
A dissonant chord echoes through the area as a distorted shimmer briefly flows around you.

Debuff application:
3rd person: A Dragon Priest zealot's lata'oloh is caught by your aural assault, imbuing it with imbalancing harmonics.
1st person: Your lance is caught by a sweeping arc of sound, causing it to vibrate uncomfortably in your hand.

Damage reduction:
With a vengeful crescendo, sonic forces lash out in defense!

Notes

  • The debuff will trigger on any strike that is at least glancing.

  • Provides a very small amount of always on damage reduction to the caster independent of the debuff effect.
