90% of these (basically anything list, search, infobox, or template related) are due to properties not existing, even though they're set up correctly on the pages. E.g. crafting material pages use behind the scenes properties to categorize each material according to various criteria. These criteria are then searched when building a table of crafting materials, for example a list of wood materials by querying for all pages that are labeled by the property <nowiki>[[Crafting material type is::wood]]</nowiki>. I'm holding off on recreating property pages until given the go ahead, since it should be something that on-site is already working on transferring over.--[[User:ABSOLON|ABSOLON]] ([[User talk:ABSOLON|talk]]) 00:34, 25 August 2016 (CDT)

Crafting material pages

So I thought I was making up the BONE item pages the same as how you'd made up the METAL item pages, but now I see you're starting to do re-directs on them to other page names. First off, sorry! Guess I should have just done one and gotten you to look it over first. So, with that in mind, do you want to go ahead and do the first leather item up (right now, looks like Antelope skin), so I have a template to do the other leather items that way too so that you won't have to go back and fiddle them later? Not trying to make more work for you...:) --Kythryn 14:51, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I'm still testing it, trying to find the way that makes the most sense. Metals and stones are fairly simple, as they always are obvious what they are. Skin and bones isn't always quite so straightforward. I list them in stack form for a couple reasons:
  1. So people can easily match what's in their pack to crafting stats.
  2. Because some skin/bones we can't actually attribute to a specific creature yet or come from multiple creatures.
  3. Because some skin/bones is very oddly named.
  4. Because some similarly named items might end up being very different (Snow Goblin bones might end up different than Elven Pixie Forest and Plains Goblin bones) and so having a Goblin Bone page could cause issues.
That being said, this is a wiki and not my personal little fiefdom, so if you think you have a better way to do it, PLEASE give it a shot. I watch all the changes on the site (or at least try), so even if I disagree and change it, some part of your idea may end up being far better. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
You may not claim the title, but we all know: You're king of the Elanthipedia Kingdom...:).
So, on the stack vs. no-stack thing, I see where you're coming from. But, on the flip side of that, if you're looking to match what is in a pack, why not lumium shard or silk cloth or onyx rock? I mean, the only thing you can (currently) pick up from it's name is a prepared healing herb (ie. crushed belradi moss becomes crushed belradi), everything else you see as a "cloth" or an "ingot" or whatever. (not trying to be difficult here, but seems like the other materials already have their "qualifier" stripped off, so why not with Bone & Leather too).
And, we do already have Goblin Bone and Pale Goblin Bone (thanks to Antendren checking a snow goblin question I had) so I do suspect that if the GM's release something from 2 similar creatures, they will give it a separate name. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe.
At the end of the day, I don't really care how we proceed with this, I'm happy to help populate everything. --Kythryn 00:55, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
And because I'm just itching to do something with this tonight it seems, I have been playing around with Caracal-pelt Leather, including the base pelt and made a test table under the COMMON LEATHER section on the Crafting Materials page. Let me know what you think, make changes, etc. Thanks! --Kythryn 03:32, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Perfect! -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 06:07, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
ugh, sorry I didn't get all those leather crafting supplies finished up yet but I did guilt Anuind into getting me samples of all the remaining common leather skins and have them tanned. So, I am (hoping!) to finish that up this coming weekend. That being said, I'd posted on the forums, and will add this to the "crafting feedback" page too, but since there are currently 2 common skins that turn into "some azure-scale leather", each with different stats, should I go ahead and make "some azure-scale leather (1)" and "some azure-scale leather (2)", and a master "disambig" page like this link for both?

Works for me. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 12:57, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Ugh, looks like some red-links are still on the crafting materials page from the server transfer. Also, there are some naming things going on when you look at the Crafting Materials#Rare Leather, sometimes it is an item other times it is just a page. I don't think I'll be re-visiting this in the near future, however if you want to let me know the page naming standard you want for things, if it hasn't been done by the time I motivate, I'll be happy to go through and standardize and follow-up on the red-links. --Kythryn 15:33, 25 January 2015 (CST)

Hib Barbarian shop

Heya! I'm updating some of the Hib stuff, and in the Barbarian guild, there is a door that looks like is Barb-only and it looks to be a shop.

>look door
Polished into the brushed bronze of the door are letters that spell out, "Kvaren's".
It is open.
>go doo
A large hand reaches out from behind the curtain and blocks your entrance. A burly guard mutters to you, "Just where, do you think yer goin? This shop is fer members of the Guild only."

I don't know how often you get out of Crossing, but if you're ever out this way, or you know a Barb in the area, might have them pop over and document the stuff? From the street, go boulder, go door, go grey arch, east, SE, east. That puts you in the room to GO DOOR to the shop. --Kythryn 16:06, 31 January 2015 (CST)

Don't know if this has been answered yet but as I'm in Hibarnhvidor I decided to check this out. Here is the room inside the door and contents of shop. --Rhadyn 22 January 2016

[Elding Gwilt, Kvaren's] There is little space to move about in this cramped shop. The bronze door opens inward, guiding customers straight to a display counter, while not making maneuvering any easier. To the left of the the counter, a number of axes have been placed on display on a rack. Adding to the clutter of the establishment, a small shelf hangs above a stout table, each showing off their own wares. Obvious exits: none.

On the display counter you see a small iron axe bearded with bright steel, an oak-hafted hurling axe with a wide steel blade inlaid with gold tracings, a slender steel throwing axe with a white leather-wrapped haft, a heavy bronze hurling axe with a river boa-shaped haft, a short-hafted hand axe with a dragon-engraved blade, a small axe with faint engravings along its length and a light bronze throwing axe with a grass eel-shaped haft.

On the axe rack you see a dark ironwood-hafted axe with a cruelly serrated head, a hand axe with an iron-banded handle, a smoke grey lochaber axe with a mottled steel head, a flint-bladed axe with a lengthened handle, an elm-handled battle axe topped by a grinning steel wolfshead, a black iron axe with a maple handle wrapped in thin leather cording, a twohanded war axe with a skull-shaped pommel, a crescent-bladed war axe engraved with a flame pattern, a goldenoak-hafted battle axe with a shining silvered blade and a sleek lochaber axe with a razored edge.

On the small shelf you see a dented flask, a leather flask, a hammered brass flask, an engraved flask and a wooden flask.

On the stout table you see a bronze paintstick, a cobalt blue paintstick, a leaf-green paintstick, a note, a blood-red paintstick, a purple paintstick, a gold paintstick, a maroon paintstick and a black paintstick.

Unable to upload files

Any file type I attempt to upload, I receive the following error:

The file is a corrupt or otherwise unreadable ZIP file. It cannot be properly checked for security.

I have tried sfhunter.txt, odt, and docx. I uploaded a new version in November and have made some fixes I need to get uploaded.

When you can please take a look.

Let me see what I can do. -CARAAMON (talk) 21:29, 6 December 2015 (CST)

I'm having this problem with image files too, FWIW. It's saying the MIME type is wrong but I've checked the headers and they seem to be totally fine. Tried this with both PNGs and JPGs. -- Thayet (talk) 17:00, 7 December 2015 (CST)

Adding TOC to player template card

Hey Caraamon! Having a Table of Contents and a Player Template Card on the same page was bugging me, so I wanted to take a shot at combining the two. See it in action on Uzmam's page. Absolon also helped out by making it a y/n toggle. I also took the left hand padding from the TOC, changed it into a margin, and adding it to the player template as a whole, giving some space between the main body copy and the player template card.

If you like how it works (and if it doesn't break anything!), we can flow it into the default templates for PCs and NPCs. Maybe even shops, who knows! --TEVESHSZAT (talk) 22:33, 13 January 2016 (CST)

Title redirect / caching issue?

Ok I came across a weird issue in regards to titles. Take the title "Shadowmancer" for example. If you go to the Title:Shadowmancer title page everything is right. If you click on the discussion tab in Title:Shadowmancer or directly go to Shadowmancer which redirects to Title:Shadowmancer you see some old cached version of the page (which you can't edit, when you try to you edit the current version, not this cached version). Now oddly if while on that bad cached page, you click the "(Redirected from Shadowmancer)" link, it takes you back to Shadowmancer, and then when you manually click the redirect link, it takes you to the correct Title:Shadowmancer. Not sure really what is going on here. Sorry if that is a bit confusing but hopefully it's detailed enough.

Also as an aside question, for updating titles, the article obsolete stub says "Some of these requirements have not been updated to 3.0. These requirements are italicized." I add the new=yes field to a title when I know all the reqs are updated and it gets rid of the "This article is obsolete" stub, but I'm not sure how to make updated reqs be non italicized (though I guess once the stub is removed it doesn't really matter if they are italicized or not?). -SYDNEE (talk) 14:20, 13 February 2016 (CST)

Unfortunately, that's an odd bug that is not something we can fix. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but we have a bunch of similar bugs having to do with missing discussion pages.
To deitalicize a requirement, put "newreq=y" somewhere in the requirement. -CARAAMON (talk) 00:58, 15 February 2016 (CST)

Standard editor permissions

Since the updates I've lost the ability to create, edit, or delete pages. I can still edit and move (not create/delete) Talk pages.

Also, and much more minor, login to Elanthipedia is now case-sensitive. - padhg (talk) 11:13, 23 August 2016 (CDT)

This is a known issue, among several others, and is being worked on. For example, I can edit/create/move/delete any page that is in a namespace (I.e. the ones with Talk, Item, Weapon, Category, Template, etc. appended to the front of the page name,) but I can't do anything but view the source code for any page that is in the default namespace, Page. (I.e. the ones that don't have a namespace appended to the front of the page name.)--ABSOLON (talk) 17:42, 23 August 2016 (CDT)
Being able to change "namespace" pages must be limited to the mods right now, with my currently assigned level I can't edit any Item pages yet. And, I sure hope the personal sandbox pages get restored. Stupid technology moving forward...:P
Anyhow, should we just hold off on making a comprehensive list of all the current editing issues until whatever the patch did has been beaten into relative submission? --Kythryn 09:39, 24 August 2016 (CDT)
Go ahead and give me a list of everything broken you've noticed. The main update stuff is finished, we're just playing clean up now. -CARAAMON (talk) 14:34, 24 August 2016 (CDT)
Your sandbox, favorites, notes, etc should still be there, it's just the easy links to them that are missing from the header links. Just add it to the end of your user account page and you can manually travel there. E.g. https://elanthipedia.play.net/User:ZUERCAT/Sandbox--ABSOLON (talk) 15:42, 24 August 2016 (CDT)
I just cleared my browser cache and re-logged in (4:15ish EST on Wed afternoon)
*personal sandbox link missing (top right was where it was, by the preferences link) - thanks ABSOLON! Glad it didn't get scrubbed. Be nice to have those links back though if there's a way, not sure new wiki users would even know they are available
*(super low priority, but was handy) - Missing some of the command buttons when on an EDIT screen, like the strikethrough, sub & super text size, etc. that would add the code into your edit form for you
*On editing pages, I can edit TALK and CATEGORY pages, but I can not edit ITEM, WEAPON or any of the basic ones (like Kythryn)
*Category:Crafting materials isn't populating any of the tables to display the metals, bone, leather, etc.
*not sure if it's a tooltip script that's broken, or something else entirely, but there are now redlinks on all the cell values on material pages (see Glaes) and all the table values on the right-hand cells on creature pages has been redlinked too (see Jackal)
*additionally, looks like the SOURCE cell is getting merged into 1 long string when it tries to create a page link (see Jackal bone)
*internal page reference links are acting wonky (see Item:Weathered ilomba chest)
*additionally, looks like tooltips or other similar issues are not populating on the ITEM template display (like the appraisal value conversion, see the ilomba chest for this too)
*and, I just double checked a number of random ITEMS, none are showing any SOURCE links and all of them are tagged for incomplete items
*There's some weirdness going on with the category display at the bottom of pages; some get italicized while others stay standard
*there is no link to dismiss the "ATTENTION Semantic searching and tagging for Armor, Weapon, Shield, and Post categories are not functioning properly. It is being worked on." notice at the top of the page
*Formatting went haywire on the top-level Ranik Maps page
*Did a spot check of random maps, none of them seem to be populating the lower-left table information (Shops, Creatures, etc)
*Spell tables aren't populating on the guild spell pages (see Category:Paladin spells) - low priority, the lower category links are still assigned and showing up fine
*Did a spot check on various shops, they all look to be tagged as incomplete articles, even when there are no redlinks on the page
*The Item Tester isn't working for me (error is "ItemChecker is not a valid form.")
Good luck with the bug-smashing! --Kythryn 15:53, 24 August 2016 (CDT)
