Town Registrar Information

Registration of an item should not be construed as an insurance policy of any type, nor is it proof of ownership. It simply establishes a detailed record of the item, and that it was at one time in the possession of the person who paid for the registration.

It is unnecessary to register an item again unless it has been significantly altered.

To register your item, go through the curtain. Once there, the clerk will help you to REGISTER or UNREGISTER your item.

You also have the ability to figure out what items on you are registered to you by using REGISTER CHECK. APPRAISE has a line if it's registered indicating whether it's yours or someone else's:

Registered to you: The funny blade looks to bear your familiar marks of registration.
Registered to someone else: Unfamiliar marks of registration are evident on the blade.

Note in some cases items which are lost by players may be recovered without GM intervention. Check NEWS 2 29 for details in game and visit the Lost and Found at the Crossing Carousel (vaults).

Locations

Crossing

[Town Hall, Records Storage]
This cramped, dusty office displays all the standard appointments that mark it as serving an extremely important role in the bureaucracy of the town government. Dilapidated, make-shift shelves are crammed full of books and papers that bear no evidence of being organized in any useful manner. Everything is covered with a thick layer of dust, and the walls and ceiling are stained with black from the smoke that rises from the single, small lamp that rests on a high desk in the center of the room. You also see a sign, a simple curtain and an arched door.

Records Office is located down the corridor in the Town Hall, next to the Lottery Office on the second floor.

Climb Stair, Go Hall, West, Go Door

Therenborough

[Ibec Hall, Registry Records Office]
Highly polished wooden filing cabinets line the walls of this tiny office, leaving no room for frivolous decoration. Piles of neatly stacked papers cover the top of a cherrywood desk that has been positioned to immediately catch the attention of anyone entering the room. The cramped waiting area intentionally lacks furniture, encouraging citizens to take care of business as quickly as possible and be on their way. You also see a sign, Registrar Gilbair and a plain curtain.

The Records Office is located in Ibec Hall on the northeastern side of Therenborough.

Ratha

[Sshoi-sson Palace, Registry Records Office]
Not much bigger than a closet, this stark white office is dominated by a government issued desk that is covered in neatly stacked papers. Secure filing cabinets line the back wall, leaving just enough room for the clerk on duty to move between them. The cramped waiting area intentionally lacks furniture, encouraging citizens to take care of business as quickly as possible and be on their way. You also see an office door, a sign and Registrar Chulack.

Fees

Note that it costs 5 gold per item registered.

Not all items may be registered, and registration does not guarantee replacement of lost items.

You can find out the owner of something registered to someone else by trying to REGISTER it twice; it costs 5 silver per item to check the registration status.

Registering

  • Registration of an item should not be construed as an insurance policy of any type, nor is it proof of ownership. It simply establishes a detailed record of the item, and that it was at one time in the possession of the person who paid for the registration.
  • It is unnecessary to register an item again unless it has been significantly altered.
  • Registering an item will not EVER guarantee that the item will be replaced if the item is lost. It simply means that IF an item is lost AND a GM determines that it is eligible for replacement, we can more easily re-create the exact item you lost.

Through the Curtain

[Town Hall Records Office, Booth]
You've entered a space which is wedged between two rows of filing cabinets and sectioned off by a heavy brocade curtain. In it is a simple modwir desk with an elderly clerk sitting behind it, peering over the mounds of paper which surround him. He snorts to himself once, mutters something under his breath, then returns to work.
You also see Registrar Paltagir, a simple curtain and a sign.

To register your item, simply REGISTER {item name}.
To unregister an item registered to you, simply UNREGISTER {item name}. (You may need to unregister an item before you can re-register it.) To check the registration status of an item, ASK [NPC] ABOUT RECORD.

You can find out the owner of something registered to someone else by trying to REGISTER it twice; it costs 5 silver per item

What can be Registered

  • Altered items
  • Non standard items
  • Forged or player made items
  • Quest items
IT IS UNNECESSARY TO REGISTER AN ITEM AGAIN UNLESS IT HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY ALTERED.
