The STANCE command is used to view/adjust how efforts are allocated to offense and defense.

Additionally, STANCE can also be used to display the last combat maneuver used. This is important since the last combat maneuver can impact the effectiveness of the next combat maneuver used.

Syntax

  • STANCE - Will display the current defensive stance and last attack.
  • STANCE MANEUVER - Will display last attack.
  • STANCE VIEW - Same as STANCE
  • STANCE <ATTACK/EVASION/PARRY/SHIELD> <#> - Will set specified defense to #.
  • STANCE <ATTACK/EVASION/PARRY/SHIELD/CUSTOM> - Will change to stance setup in specified slot.
  • STANCE <ATTACK/EVASION/PARRY/SHIELD/CUSTOM> VIEW - Will show stance setup stored in specified slot.
  • STANCE <ATTACK/EVASION/PARRY/SHIELD/CUSTOM> SAVE - Will store current stance in specified slot.
  • STANCE SET <evasion #> <parry #> <shield #> (<attack #>) - Allows setting of all stances with one command.

  • For starting characters, the maximum number of defensive stance points is 180, with an additional 1 for every 5 taken from the ATTACK stance.
  • The number of stance points available depends on the user's Defense skill, with an extra point every 50, 60, or 70 ranks, for Armor Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary, guilds respectively.

Ranged weapons (thrown weapons, bows, crossbows) as well as non-DFA (Death From Above; Lightning Bolt, Soul Attrition, Burn, etc.) spells that create projectiles (Fire Shards, Fists of Faenella, Dinazen Olkar, etc.)
