[MAMAS Company, Main Office]
The Assay Office looks like a contractor's storeroom: scaffolding, loose timbers, planks, and tools lie everywhere, as carpenters and plasterers work away. Behind a tin-topped counter stands the assay clerk, who is adjusting the beam of the smallest of three graduated scales. You also see a large map mounted on the wall, a sign, and a wooden bench.
Sign
Welcome to the Merchant Adventurers' Mapping, Assay, and Survey Company!
We will soon serve all your mining needs. In the meantime, you are invited to use our scales for a token payment of one bronze coin of the province. Just put the item to be weighed on the counter, and our courteous staff will assist you.
MAMAS Company thanks you!
Large map
The large map, handsomely mounted, is covered with curved lines, little squiggles, dots and dashes and bright-colored patches; you assume they must mean something to the Dwarves.
A large map reads:
Chuchurkreck Shup Chekmany Traanibenick
Wooden bench
It's an ordinary bench, with F.G + M.C. carved in one end.
Counter
The shiny counter, already dented and scratched, separates the office itself from the customers' waiting area.
