A variety of quartz, citrine ranges from pale yellow to brown. A natural citine has a cloudy or smoky appearance and is nearly impossible to differentiate between cut citrine and yellow topaz visually.
Sometimes, citrine and amethyst can be found together in the same crystal and is referred to as ametrine.
