This ethereally pale, airy stone is found exclusively in the highest reaches of mountain ranges or, strangely, in some of the deepest accessible caves beneath the sea. It is rumored to be require a location where the Plane of Air seeps into the Plane of Abiding. It is prized by Elementalists, certain monks, and seafarers, where it is carried as a token and said to ensure one's vessel always has the wind and is never becalmed.

The sapphire is always found in highly translucent, almost transparent, shades of blue, grey, and/or white, its glassiness and translucence lending it an airiness and lightness. Faint striations throughout the stone resemble currents of air, which may appear gentle as a breeze or whipping in torrents like a violent tornado.
