HUNTING FOR THE TRUTH

Off the beaten paths of Sorrow's Reach, not far from the Sunfall Hub, there exists a lush and open Wildflower Meadow. In this field lies a sacred boulder at which the Prydaen race can convene, calling upon their Gods for favor and guidance.

Their wisdom was recently sought due to the threat of the Heralds and perils caused by Wild Magic. In the clearing that night, Jundara led the group, welcoming anyone who attended to speak the words they wished the Triquetra to hear. Briaen stepped forward first, offering not a prayer, but a few words of support from the Inquisition. Alongside him and in agreement was his Initiate, Nawain.

Jundara called upon the rest of the crowd to go in turn, directing them one by one to the boulder with any questions and concerns for Eu-Demrris-Tenemlor. Nevali started off with a theory, then her prayer, placing her offering upon the rock. After a moment, her contribution transformed into a symbol which she picked up. It is my understanding they then sacrifice knowledge to the symbol, much like the orbs many of us are familiar with, and exchange it for favors when it is ready.

Vixonia approached the boulder next. She shared that her beliefs were formed as a young kit, and honoring them to this day, she reverently placed an item on the stone's surface. So far, these ritual items consisted of animal pelts and skins of the undead. When Xionara went up, something different happened. She spoke of past trials and feeling the presence of the Triquetra in all she does. When she prayed, a heartsblood trillium blossom appeared. When it was offered upon the makeshift altar, she crumpled to the ground, though none seemed too concerned as this was apparently a common side effect of this tradition.

Right after Xionara's offering, time slowed and the air took on a verdant green light. The expressive ears of several nearby Prydaen quirked outwards in surprise.

According to those present they began to experience the following:

Their vision blurred a moment, and when they blinked, they found themselves looking at a forest clearing redolent with tiny flowers, each with three rounded petals opening toward the sun. A river twisted in the distance, and for a moment they thought they saw it turning back on itself in an endless loop. Time sped, and they saw the sun ride through the sky overhead, disappearing into sunset, and then it rose once more. The vision faded.

A palpable serenity filled the air, and the breeze carried distinct words that seemed to echo in song: "Take your rest, but don't stay long." The breeze picked up to a howling wind that came from the west.

Struck once more by another vision, their view suddenly expanded, and time sped further than before -- they saw the movements of tribes, and the rise and fall of Hubs, the endless cycle of hunting and the birth of new prey. Eventually, the sight came to rest on the crest of a great plateau, a Prydaen woman stood there. When she turned to look at them, they saw that she was ancient, grey and silver shot through otherwise dark fur. She held their gaze for a long moment, as if appraising, then gave a nod, the faint hint of a smile on her face. Her tail floated tranquilly as she turned away again, and the vision ended. She left a feeling of peace in her wake.

The mood was mostly solemn and silent afterwards, as Sozinho, Allye, Istercal, and Jundara took a moment to finish their prayers and make their offerings. When discussion resumed, some referred to the woman as a Munan. Interestingly, Nawain, who is a Rakash, was aware of the initial vision but did not see the second of the elderly lady.

The hunt for truth ended with a sense of comfort and gratitude for the returned communication with their Gods. They dispersed with the satisfaction of being both heard, and answered.

Stay safe in these troubled times,
