***Memorial Messages***

Dear Friends,

It is with a sad heart that I make my first posting to these forums. On August 25th, a bright light and loving individual departed from our lives. The generous and caring woman known as Saphryna Silverwaters passed while undergoing a procedure in the hospital. I make this post to inform you all of this unfortunate loss and to inform you that I will be organizing a memorial event for her in the coming weeks. Additionally the family is now burdened with the great expense of seeing to her final rites. If any of you have questions, would like to help the family, wish to make any special contributions for either her personal or digital ceremonies, feel free to send messages to the following email account.

Both myself and her family will have access to it and I feel certain they would welcome your thoughts or testimonials on how she helped brighten all our lives.

You have my heart felt thanks for helping to honor the memory of this wonderful woman.

With my deepest regards,

Kiritan Thundersoul

Saphryna was a joy, a gem to be around. To have known her was to know peace and a friend in deed. To tell you all about the wonderful person that she was is nearly impossible, I can only scratch the surface. To have been in her life was phenomenal, she’s a wonderful person and full of such love and kindness. She was one of my many closest friends in Dragon Realms and one of the few I considered as a sister. I’m glad I had the opportunity to have gotten to know her, and cheer for her on happier times, and be a shoulder for her to cry on for those times when she felt low. To convey what my heart sings about her cannot be fully put into words but my heart will continue to sing, as that’s where she dwells now and forever until my passing. In the immortal words of Billy Pilgrim she may be gone from this when, but she lives and thrives in other whens, which is to say she lives on in our memories, and our dreams. I close with a poem by Langston Hughs’ Helen Keller because to me Saphryna embodies this poem perfectly:

She, In the dark, Found light Brighter than many ever see. She, Within herself, Found loveliness, Through the soul’s own mastery. And now the world receives from her dower: The message of the strength Of inner power.

Love ya, Saphy, you are missed!

I'm writing this through tears, quietly sobbing in my office. I will try to keep it brief.

Laurie Wright, known in game as Saphryna Silverwaters (among others) passed away yesterday 8-25-2017. I'm in no state to get into details, but she did pass quietly and pain free while asleep.

I thought of her as a beautiful gem, so precious, so rare.. Inside and out. Truly one of a kind....

She will be dearly missed by many. Her genuinely sweet, beautiful and kind soul touched the hearts of many, and she will always have a spot in mine.

I love you my beautiful Saphy, may you forever sleep sweet.

-Exoduss

Um, I don't even know where to start. When I first met Laurie, she was playing Syance. She was still with Patryck back then. And they had a son Nekota. And I met her through Patryck. And we would talk. And she decided she wanted to adopt Kyodan as her birth son. I had played DR before this time, once when it was still on aol. But my character never had a family. Syance and Patryck were the first DR family I ever had. And, I'm sorry, I'm not good with expressing myself. I want her real family to know that Laurie wasn't just the player of Kyodan's mother. She was my friend, someone I could talk to, just....she was an amazing person, not just in DR. I remember, one time. she had wanted me to join her on skype with her boyfriend. And, so I'm on the phone, because my laptop didn't have a camera, and it was the first time I heard her voice. And we just talked and talked. Her boyfriend was in the background having absolutely NO idea what we were even talking about. And finally we had to hang up. But talking with her made me happy.

She left DR after another player disappeared. The character had been her ig husband for a long time. Then suddenly, I see her in game, walking by, and I do a double take. And I'm like, no way. And I quickly get on my IM, and am telling Chris, who had played her first son, Nekota, I was like Oh My God, Laurie is back! I just saw her as Syance. She's back!! He quickly logs in with the character he had at the time, and we both search and finally find her, and I gave her the biggest hug. It had been a long while. She hated talking by IM. She preferred to facebook. So I followed her there too and we talked sometimes. I haven't logged on to Facebook in awhile, so if someone was putting updates on her profile, I missed them. And I am so so sorry.

To Laurie's family - She role played my character, Kyodan's, mother. However, in real life, she was like a mother to me too. She would comfort me when I was upset. Whenever I ran into her in game, she would give me a great big hug. And I liked to think if I had been able to get down to Florida to visit her, we would have given each other huge hugs and told each other, Hello my other family. I cant fathom what you must be feeling. Many people will be writing messages, because she was just an amazing person. There are so many stories, so many things I could go into, to talk about. But I think it can maybe be summed up that Laurie, the player of Syance and Saphryna, was like family to me, and I will miss her so much. And I know you are grieving, but take this to heart: She was a wonderful human being. A caring, loving individual. She might have been "playing a role" but her words and feelings for people she liked and cared about, were real.

I wish I could go down there, to attend her funeral, but I am unable to travel. But one needs not be in person to wish comfort to those who have lost. Laurie's heart is in everyone she has every cared about. She had a huge heart. I give my condolences to her real life family, and I ask if there is anything I can do to help you during this time. If information is being put on Facebook as well, I will check there for funeral information. I can't be there, but I want to be able to pray and think about her while others who love her are thinking and saying goodbye to her as well.

-Kyodan

Just know you made all the difference in someone's life that really needed someone there for her.

Saphryna ... I will miss you. You brought such a sweetness and a warm atmosphere to the Empath guild. You were so huggy and huggable. You're in a better place now, you are loved.

I knew her well. I am the player of Measly Warmage and several others. she had many bodies , just one soul. she smiled , she laughed and even on occasion got angry. All of which endowed her "girls" with character each there own. I remember the first time I ran across her, she was shuffling items from one girl to another, "matching Outfits" ... Ayaon her bard was lying on the ground ( with massive roundtime ) and her empath at the time was inside the vaults or whatnot. I spoke "line" are you alright.. I got a smile and "no line just us nearly dead mules" . we spoke until the empath got tossed out of the vaults by the attendant. we laughed and chatted a bit. she had spirit and always did her best to play an honest in character performance. I am always remember the smile and polite conversation, even when the world was collapsing around her. even now I wish, she and I could sit and chat as we did the last couple weeks when I came back to the game after a long break. the realms will be tough without her, the lights of the heavens got brighter, as the world went dimmer. God Blass you, Sweet lass.

She was an absolute joy to interact with, and made many days very enjoyable just by having conversation with her. Every day will be a little more grey without her light.

Saphryna was such a lovely person. I was so lucky to have known her. I was not family, in game or out but she always made me feel like a special friend. She was special to me and she will be missed.

The first time I met Saphryna, I wasn't happy with her at all. I was looking for someone to grab something from the empath shop and not a single empath was awake. I was already frustrated when I saw her hiding in a side room and was livid when she, like everyone else, didn't respond. As I was walking out the door, she quickly rushed after me. An annoying amount of unnecessary apologies later, she gave me what I was looking for and then lingered before finally She told me I was the first person to talk to her in hours and asked if she could follow me around for a while. I was confused because I was very obviously uninviting the entire time she was with me, but how could I say no after that. So she followed me around and continued to follow me around for quite some time. Years passed yet I never told her how mad I was when I first met her, and I will never know if she just didn't notice, or if she didn't let it bother her because that is the kind of upbeat and positive person she was. Despite her efforts to introduce me to new people, she was always my only social connection here. Its going to be a struggle moving forward and I think it will take a long while before I stop instinctively checking my friends list to see if she is around.

I just found out about Laurie today. I cannot begin to explain how important she was to me.

As Syance she was the only person who still remembered Kintalia from before I took a ten year hiatus. She made the return easy, her generosity, openness and warmth were a balm to the weary soul. She shared her joy for life in the small conversations, always willing to spare the time to spend with friends both old and new. As Saphryna she was a sister to Kintalia. She was a treasured part of the family, understated yet wise in her council. Loyal beyond measure and always there when you needed her.

Regardless of which character you knew her as, Laurie's spirit always seeped into you. Her gentle kindness, her generosity of spirit, her serenity in the face of chaos. I cannot begin to express how much she will be missed or how deep her loss will be felt.

I have not had time to be around in game much in the last year but she was always there on my AIM to ask me how I was doing, how life was treating me, never pressuring me to come spend time in our fictional world. Thought it may just be words on a screen, in our hearts and our minds, our fantasy world was enriched by having Laurie present.

I never really spoke to her too much, but she was always such a joy when I did. I was just looking for her a week or two ago because I had died and got dragged to the Empath guild to be raised, and right after she healed my corpse my internet went down(oh, Cox) and she was such a nice person that I didn't want her to think I just left on her and was a jerk. I never found her.

As someone who has known the player of Saphryna for a long, long time, I can assure you, she would have thought NO such thing. She would have realized you lost connection. She probably waited a short bit before going, and that was only because you were healed and she didn't know when you were going to be back. If you had found her, and said sorry to her, she would have told you that you don't owe her any apology. So please, don't let that weigh you down.

I am very VERY sad to hear this. Saphryna, was such a sweet, kind and happy person to be around. Just two weeks ago, or so, she made Nyxer, a new empath, feel at home in the crossing guild. She introduced him to other empaths there and helped with questions and shared things about herself. She invited him into her personal space to share her friendship. That's something rare, I think, in our world. Both worlds.

I didn't know her as long as everyone else, but in our exchanges I felt her friendship. She had an amazing sense of humor and was so perceptive about things. Sometimes in translation of the written word, the emotion behind it is misinterpreted. But she had such a beautiful heart and mind, she could always see the good. In our very last communication over the gweth, she humorously chastised me for encouraging another player to gamble more. But, I knew with complete certainty that she GOT my humor too. And my very last words to her on the gweth then were "Only you, m'dear, only you", meaning only SHE would get my meaning... and so it is. She IS an Only One, and will be missed beyond words.

Vykanthiss - Ranger and Initiate Empath - Nyxer

I called her "My Sweet Sister Saph" Our names were similar and we had many other similarities in common. She was what Webster's would call a "true Empath". She would stop whatever she was doing and come to the aid of anyone wounded or needing help. Hers wasn't done for the glory or the experience. She did it with love. Saph could get into the other person's head and feel their pain. It never felt like role playing with Saph and that was because she was truly concerned about the other person. She was truly one of a kind and the Realms is a much bleaker place without her.

Love and miss you already, Saph. Thanks for being my friend and "Sweet Sister",

Sophrona

As I read through all the love everyone had for her it sadness me more that she's gone. I've been away from the game for probably over ten years, and within my first weeks I met Saphryna who more than willingly offered me aid in some compendium charts. She suffered through my gritty crude humor and with a smile and kindness in her words she told me she would be my "new Empath friend" I cried a lot when I heard this news, and like now I cry because it is never easy losing someone, and it's even harder when it's a good person, and it's terrible when it's an amazing person like Saphryna was. She will always be remembered as a loving, sweet and true empathetic person.

~Msaia

Msaia, please don't feel bad about her having to suffer through your gritty, crude humor. She had years of practice listening to such things from me. For those of you reading this, who knew her only as Saphryna and are interested in knowing of Syance, please let me know. I can be reached at Kyodandr on AIM.

Saphryna,

Words will never fully express my sorrow at your passing. You were a light in the dark world, a veritable angel we were all lucky to know. You were one of my best, if not THE best, friend I had in the Realms, and I am proud to have been yours. I will miss you every day, my dearest Saph.

Saphryna had a gift, a talent; when you were with her, you felt like the most important person in the world. Because to her, at that moment, you were. Her boundless heart and love could envelope you, and lift even the lowest of spirits to soaring heights. Truly, we did not deserve her, but she gave herself to us anyway. That is the essence of Saphryna.

I will close with the last words I will ever say to her: I am, and forever shall be, your friend.

-Zero

I cannot really express my grief at Saphryna's passing. We met in Dragonrealms and became friends outside as well as inside of the game she loved so much. She was a bright and beautiful soul who I never heard utter a hard word about anyone. We are all immeasurably lucky to have counted her as a friend. I loved her and I shall never stop missing her. -Zeldann

Our hearts go out to the family of the player Saphryna. She was a beautiful soul and a bright light in our Lich community. She was an essential presence to all of us, always with positive input. Saphryna's attentiveness and humor to the mundane comments we make in Lich chat will be missed greatly. We were blessed to have her be part of our magical world here in Dragonrealms. We all lost a little of that magic when we heard she passed. Personally I will miss her generosity, her words of advice, and the sisterhood we shared. I will always remember you. Until we meet again. Embrace/Sara

________________________________________________________________________

I remember how kind she was, all the times while either hunting, or during invasions, her smile never wavered. She will be sorely missed.

________________________________________________________________________

Saphy was a genuinely kind soul. I did not know her well and only met her recently under somewhat trying circumstances. She handled every hardship with class and grace. No one was a stranger and she always had a smile and a friendly word for anyone who came across her. It was a genuine honor to know her, even for so brief a time. Exoduss, I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. If there is anything you need please feel free to contact me in game or out.

Sympathies,

Kja

I never knew Saph outside of our silly game here, but it's apparent that the way she portrayed her game character, was a natural extension of the type of person Laurie genuinely was. When I found out she had passed I couldn't believe it. I've been checking for her in DR daily... and to now find this page I realize that it is indeed true. I want to express to her friends and family that she meant a lot to me, and to many others. She was a special person, with a special gift for joy and kindness, 1 in a million. Laurie, you will be sorely missed and my prayers, thoughts, and heart go out to you in paradise. Sharing in fond memory, Bran/Sean
