Could someone take a look at the ISearch for climbing ropes please and tell why it's populating that list with a dancing rope? MOTHRA (talk) 12:32, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- If I had to guess it's because the name literally says "climbing rope" in it and the semantic search also touches on nouns. --TEVESHSZAT (talk) 13:51, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- It's the Climbing rope redirect page. I just changed it and no longer get any results for "climbing rope" on this page. Template:ISearch is looking at page names, not properties. Maybe this needs a straight-up ASK query. Weird. --TK-421 (talk) 14:01, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- And "dancing rope" and "climbing rope" are different properties, but the results on queries don't distinguish between the two... --TK-421 (talk) 14:08, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- Is it working how you were envisioning now? --TK-421 (talk) 14:28, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- Some of the mistaken results might be coming from improper tagging too. I just updated the Item:Dark climbing rope woven with strangely glowing threads to "climbing rope", which had been tagged as the "dancing rope" itype, and it did properly move it to the "Climbing Rope" section. It is currently back to "dancing" but it may be that a manual review of all the possible ropes is needed to confirm tags are correct. Kythryn 14:34, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- I changed the itype on Item:Dark climbing rope woven with strangely glowing threads as a test. Put it back, since it should be a "climbing" rope. Gonna back off on fiddling with this for now, so smarter folks can take a stab at it. I agree that the tagging is inconsistent. I also don't know why I can't distinguish between "climbing" and "dancing" itypes with ASK queries. --TK-421 (talk) 14:59, 23 September 2020 (CDT)
- Ok, I figured out what was going sideways with ISearch and "dancing rope", although not *why* it was going sideways. My educated guess, based off the template calls, is that because "bundling rope" and "climbing ropes" come before "dancing rope", somehow they were getting searched correctly, but once you hit the evil "D" items, ISearch defaulted to "hey, they are ALL ropes, right?". Anyhow, I updated one of the rope pages with a new tag, dancingrope and when you use the template with that tag, it works fine:
{{ISearch|dancingrope}}
- So yea, if anyone wants to dig more, I *think* the underlying problem comes with the template trying to sort through too many rope itypes (it is set up for 3 possible variations per call, maybe that applies for the entire page). That being said, I just went ahead and finished TK-421's work on the ASK queries, tinkered with the table layout, and that's where the page is at now...heh. Kythryn 01:38, 25 September 2020 (CDT)
