I was ashamed to realize that I had never done such a test, so I did a quick one. TL;DR:  - Charging teaches most, discharging teaches somewhat, and focusing teaches a pittance.  - Teaching from charge and discharge are both based on the amount of mana.  - Learning is the same for enchantes and spells.  - So to maximize learning, try to keep as much mana as possible flowing through your cambrinth, while avoiding wasting time on focusing.
