The SLEEP command prevents your character from gaining new experience. (Any experience that you already acquired will continue to drain from your experience pools at the standard rate.)

This command is often used to prevent inadvertent scripting violations by those who are idling while AFK.

The AWAKE command will return you to normal experience gaining.
