Description

A ragged assortment of bark-textured scales frames the angular face of the rot-vein thornkin, highlighting gaunt cheekbones, a pointed chin, and dull yellow eyes. More rough scales cover its limbs and torso, broken by swollen purple veins branching beneath patches of necrotic flesh. Tattered, rot-veined wings sag from its back in putrid ribbons, their shredded edges dripping green-black ichor. A patchy swathe of matted, moss-like hair partially obscures pointed ears and trails unevenly down the creature's back in a parody of its former beauty. Its sinuous tail is discolored a putrid purple beneath its keeled scales, tapering to a cluster of jagged, broken shadethorn spikes.

Recall

Rot-vein thornkin are dark, reptilian-featured humanoid undead whose scale-masked faces cling to the last vestiges of their former appearance. Tattered membranous wings hang in ruined folds, weeping green-black ichor over necrotic purple tails armed with jagged remnants of shattered shadethorn spikes. Dull yellow eyes stare without recognition or reason, yet their decaying bodies retain a terrible swiftness, hurling them after living prey with mindless ferocity. Whatever bond they once held with the wild has since rotted away. Rather than the whisper of lush foliage their approach is now heralded by the sinister stench of death and the wet squelch of putrefying flesh.

The rot-vein thornkin are known to cast the Devitalize spell.

With a sibilant exhalation and a flash of scales, a ghoulish rot-vein thornkin lashes its serpentine tail in a wide arc.
