Heyo!

I'll preface this one by saying that this update is purely experimental and is subject to change or even removal. We'll see how it works and balances out and go from there. With that disclaimer made, the following updates are now live in Prime and Platinum for testing. Assuming the world doesn't end, TF will follow in a few days.

  • Non- TM spells that are prepared for at least a minimum amount of time will now grant a small Power Perception award when cast. The longer you prep (up to fully prepared), the more you stand to gain.
  • TM spells will also grant a Power Perception award when cast if a small wait period has passed since the last spell cast. This restriction is in place since the current system allows players to insta-full-prep TM spells.
  • Enchantes will now award a small amount of Power Perception skill as well in conditions when normal PM experience is awarded.

In addition to the minimum prep time (or timer in the case of TM spells), there are a couple of other conditions and restrictions. The caster must be eligible for gaining experience from the spell in question. The experience will always be significently lower than the PM experience, meaning this will rarely be completely effective as a primary means of learning PP, nor is it intended to be. It can be reasonable, but it does come at a cost of having to wait longer on prep times. Ultimately it's up to the individual player whether the added wait is worth the extra reward or not.

This change is intended to make PP a little less dull and dreary, as well as provide some additional benefit for taking the time to prepare a spell rather than default to snapcasting.

This round of changes also includes one other bug fix. Room messaging for backfiring was only working in a select few cases. It should now be working for everyone that is visible now. This should help clear up some confusion on critters that are just gesturing but don't seem to actually be doing anything. It also means that if you backfire a spell and are visible, folks will know you just backfired.
