>>The armor stuff would affect other guilds, I presume?

No. This would be paladin exclusive stuff. Which isn't to say the skillset couldn't use some help for all guilds, but this project isn't that.

>>Any chance one of those skills, say endurance, will nullify the effects of shield ignoring abilities by bonusing other defenses or whatever?

Way too early for specifics.

>>I understand if all of this is preliminary and you can't talk about it since 3.2 is the trader and balancing patch.

We're trying to move away from the 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 mentality. It was helpful internally but ended up... messy, as you saw with 3.1 where it took a very long time to launch since it kept growing and including more interlocking systems. We've spoken to 3.2 being the barrier review and Trader magic but, frankly, there's lots of little projects that we tend to talk about under one header and they way they're connected is complex. Further, the order things will get worked on depends on human resources more than anything - and that's where we're tight. Several of the more prolific coders (myself included) haven't been terribly prolific lately for a variety of reasons and the loss of Socharis is still a major blow to these projects. For myself, I'm trying to find a project that's about the right overlap of size and personal passion to dive into (And the barrier review ain't it, unfortunately. It's something I feel strongly about doing, but it's hard to dig into a rather dry.). On the upside, we do have a new GM class in training now so that should help (Once they become a net positive for productivity).

>>I've suspected that 'endurance' would get renamed. It's too tied to damage reduction in the common mind, to really be the 'guild specific' skill reflecting all things Paladin. People want it to function as a stun reducer, general damage reducer, DFA nullifier, etc. etc. etc.

I'd say it's about 50/50 if it games renamed. It could work as the name for the current system I'm musing over, but it's not perfect. On the other hand, most of the other terms I can think of aren't perfect either. I will say I would be surprised to see Endurance developed as a general damage reducer, special attack nullifier etc. Setting aside the number balancing issues there (That's more of a Kodius question) those things are all very passive and would make for a rather uninteresting and irritating skill to train. My current thoughts are much more towards finding active uses for it and as a way to translate your assorted armor ranks into more active use.
