>>AFAIK this has always been true. Just far easier to tell when you are relating the tales of an egotistical, self-promoting bard.
This. All IC history and lore is written from the viewpoint of some specific character or culture and is capable of error. It just happens that Albuam is substantially more character than usual. >>So how do dragons decide if they're going to be Elemental or Life? Albuam emphasized the social dimension of the choice. It's not wired into them, but he did describe a distinct caste structure of "priest-kings" and "commoners." >>How do they regard our Elemental and Life magic as compared to theirs? Do they manipulate mana in the same manner, or would a human trying to cast a dragon spell experience Very Bad Things (and vice versa)? Albuam claimed that his host offered to have him learn Elemental dragon magic, so there's a presumption in the text that the styles are fully compatible. Granted this may have been unique to Albuam's incredible intelligence and magical talent. | |
