Since the other thread is getting some good attention - let's spin up another one in the hopes it may give me the mental nudge I need to finish the proposal I'm working on for Paladins (No, I'm not that close to being able to discuss details. Sorry).

What do you see as the general archtypes for Paladins? And what sort of abilities would you see them needing? Don't worry about the nitty gritty or even making it work that well with existing DR lore (The ideas can be rethemed or the lore adjusted if the mechanics are worth it).

Some examples off the top of my head (without going into mechanics):

The Vanguard - An offensive based Paladin, leads from the front.

The Tactician - More of a General, standing back and commanding armies and troops.

The Guardian - A defensive based Paladin, focused on protecting others. Alternately, a tank, able to endure almost anything.

The Templar - An anti-magic warrior, focused on overcoming and defeating magics and enemy mages.

The Blackguard - A warrior who's willing to use less honorable methods to achieve his goals, such as stealth and trickery. I'm using this as a placeholder for the entire Dark Paladin, Anti-Paladin, Fallen Paladin spectrum (Even though those aren't really the same thing).
