It's helpful to remember that the Immortals, as distant and impersonal as they sometimes are, are still sapient entities and not literal forces of supernature. The difference between a Ranger animal abilities spell and a Necroalchemy is not just biology versus magic, but also one of perceived intent.

Transcendence is intentionally supposed to be harder to pin down. It's the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life. The Great Work is literally taken from the alchemical Magnum Opus. Squaring the Circle; "doing the impossible." Only a Necromancer can possibly achieve Transcendence, but Necromancers are among the last people on the planet with the qualifications to do it.

This is because, very deliberately, the universe is stacked against you. Happy trails.
