Howdy all!
I've just finished releasing lockpick rings into Prime after an extended testing phase in Platinum. The Fallen will come very shortly (as in, after this post). You'll find these sold by Ragge, the Crossing locksmith. You'll also find most other locksmiths carry them for roughly the same cost. These handy little things will allow you to place lockpicks inside and take lockpicks out; what's more, these will always count as one item, regardless of how many lockpicks are within. Yay for inventory reduction! These basic items can fit 25 lockpicks. Use STUDY <MY> RING to get help and determine what can be done. The rest, I'll say PAFO on that unless something seems overly confusing. There is a Thief-only option with these also well, although nothing super special, also PAFO. These are belt-worn and one can pick "from the belt" with these, as well as repair. Pick and repair work off of the "top" lockpick in the stack and STUDY explains this. In STUDY you'll find options to TURN such that the "top" lockpick is the best / worst / weakest / most damaged / etc. These items are fully alterable also. You will in the near future see a 50-capacity version as a premium version of these items. You may very well see these in forms other than "lockpick rings" type items, but as other sorts of items in the future as the system allows for that. I'm not saying it'll happen or it won't, only that the system is capable of that. On appraisal: non-thief/trader characters can now get some info about lockpicks with appraisal, but thieves and traders have a substantial bonus. In addition, more information is now available. If you haven't tried you may want to appraise lockpick careful for additional information. The rings themselves can also be appraised / appraised carefully for certain information. This generally means (among other things) that with a little bit of skill you should be able to determine the quality of lockpicks and the contents of a lockpick ring prior to purchasing a lockpick or a ring full of them. A few last notes: They all have to be the same kinds of lockpicks to put in a single lockpick ring. The items aren't terribly expensive, but this is just how item "stacking" has to work. In other words "a purple stout lockpick" won't be able to go into a lockpick ring with "a stout lockpick" in it, or any other differences in the basic look of the item. The items value, quality, and so on are saved just fine. The special thing that can happen with skill with grandmaster's lockpicks "rubs off" (system limitation) when placed into the rings. Please post any issues you find and enjoy. - GM Sithix | |
