There are a lot of variables involved, as well as a random factor.

There should not be (but certainly may be) any dead-end climbs that are easier to get into than out of. I emphasize dead-end climbs since there are some like the Arthe tree that are harder to get down than up, but you do have the option to dive down into the pond.

If you do find yourself stuck, here are a few tips:

Wounds make a difference. So does fatigue and burden. These are three common ways someone might be able to climb into an area but not be able to climb out.

If you need a little help, try APPRAISING the climb. If you succeed in a solid appraisal, you'll get a small short-term bonus for that specific climb.

If you are the paranoid type, you can also keep a coil of rope on you. Having a coil of rope in hand while attempting to climb will give you a bonus (it assumes you are using the rope to aid in climbing0.
