Yeah, if you APPRAISE CAREFULLY substances you get more information about them such as:

The steel ingot is made with metal.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a quality of 70, placing it at 'of above average purity' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a hardness of 85, placing it at 'very hard' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a durability of 60, placing it at 'good durability' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a workability of 50, placing it at 'of about average difficulty to work with' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has an electrical resistance of 60, placing it at 'a somewhat good conductor of electricity' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a thermal resistance of 60, placing it at 'somewhat good at transfering heat and cold' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the metal in the steel ingot has a physical resistance of 85, placing it at 'exceptionally good at repelling physical blows' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the steel ingot weighs exactly 200 stones.
You are certain that the steel ingot is worth exactly 4240 lirums.

Hope that helps! Bronze is an easier metal to work with, but still keeps many of the good qualities. A whole lot better than Iron.
