| You say, "Okay, I think we can probably get started! Thank you all for joining me here this evening."
Zersha smiles at you, revealing the dimples in her cheeks. Rudale rubs his chin in thoughtful contemplation. You say, "We've got several new visions to go over, but I think perhaps we'll start with one that appears to be a continuation of one we discussed at the previous meeting. I'll start by reviewing that vision we had previously gone over..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Trajan bows his head in acknowledgement. Zersha cocks her head at you. Trajan blinks. Trajan waves to Illiya. You say, "A farmhouse burned, ringed by monstrous creatures spitting globs of fire that razed the surrounding fields to ash. The front door burst open, revealing a wide-eyed mother leading a small child. Surveying the ruin, she picked the path of least danger, hefted the child into her arms, and sprinted in adrenaline fueled terror. The flaming entities spotted her and howled, a predatory announcement of the hunt, and gave chase." You say, "The woman fled deep into the dark before the slavering creatures outpaced and encircled her. She set the crying child down, shielding him with her body as she brandished a pitifully small knife. She turned in place, swiping at the monsters that ventured close. In the distance, a figure shouted, "I'm coming! Hold on!"." You say, "The creatures began to conjure hissing flames from their gullets, and the vision faded." Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "I remember that one." Zersha frowns. Rudale nods. Kethrai gives a slight nod. You say, "And now the more recent vision..." You exclaim, "A mother shielded a small child from a ring of monstrous, fire-spitting creatures that circled ever closer. The child screamed in fear, but the mother's eyes shone resolute and furious as she swiped at any monster that ventured too close. In the distance, a figure shouted, "I'm coming! Hold on!" You say, "A man charged into the fray, slamming into the pack with blade and shield ready, cleaving a bloody path. A glob of fire exploded against his shield. Howling in challenge, he spun the weapon with a dancer's grace. Monsters collapsed into hissing ruin, their foul blood sizzling against his blade." You say, "The mother continued her desperate defense as the man carved a path toward her side." You say, "The vision faded." Zersha nibbles her lip thoughtfully. Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "At least it sounds like they might have been saved." You say, "The situation does seem to be growing more hopeful, at least." Zersha nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Umptiskrunk loudly says, "Ump agree." Zersha grins at Umptiskrunk, her dimples flashing into view. Umptiskrunk nods. Zersha says to Umptiskrunk in a Velakan accent, "Obviously, you'd have already squished them but you can't be everywhere." Zersha winks at Umptiskrunk. Jaelia exclaims, "That is one of the few hopeful Visions we get!" Kethrai says, "I... hm. This is making me think of some art I remember from the gallery at the Raven's Court? Maybe? I dunno, it's been so long." You say, "The creatures themselves still strike me as the most prominent aspect of the vision, but there could be meaning to the additional elements as well." Rudale coughs. Umptiskrunk loudly says to Zersha, "Sound like something Ump do." Umptiskrunk nods to Zersha. Rudale says, "The the fact that we notice the grace of the male fighter seems like it could be important." You say, "Yes, he does appear to be quite skilled." Koryu smiles at Belincia. Belincia leans on Koryu. Umron ponders. Cherisse ponders. Zersha leans on Cherisse. Zersha takes a sip of her Expanse. You say, "The way the creatures' blood behaved would seem to indicate they aren't 'normal' beings that are just using some elemental magic. Though whether their blood is also at a high temperature, or has some other corrupting element to it, I can't say for sure." Cherisse smiles at Zersha, revealing the dimples in her cheeks. Kethrai nods to you. Umptiskrunk loudly says, "Using sword and shield for fire things is interesting. Ump normally just stomp out flames." Umptiskrunk shrugs. Zersha grins at Umptiskrunk, her dimples flashing into view. Jaelia takes a sip of her brandy. Kethrai says, "Not all of us can stomp something so tall." Rudale says, "I'm no smith, but heat alone rarely causes a sword to sizzle." Kethrai nods to Umptiskrunk. Umptiskrunk chuckles at Kethrai. Umptiskrunk nods to Kethrai. Kiashandra takes a sip of her cocktail. Umron takes a sip of his Expanse. Anuril dryly says, "Must have been a paladin using their native spell Ignite." Rudale chuckles at Anuril. Jaelia says to Anuril, "I think you are confusing that with their Just Ice spell." Kethrai says, "I assumed it was the blood that was sizzling, like water on a hot pan. Or acid eating away at the metal could do it." You nod. Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "If they spit fire, it might make sense of their blood to be hot." Umptiskrunk nods to Zersha. Cherisse giggles at Jaelia. Umptiskrunk loudly says, "Lavablood." Jaelia nods to Umptiskrunk. Umron muffledly says, "I jes tinkin duh same ting." Zersha nods to Umptiskrunk. Elizzibiana asks in an archaic accent, "Or its the blade thats heated up?" Anuril takes a sip of his cocktail. Rudale glances at Isaish. Rudale asks, "Hot serpentine things, could Ushnish be involved?" Umptiskrunk glances at Cherisse. You say, "I will definitely keep an eye out for any other visions following this that might shed some more light on it, but for the moment I think the best takeaway I have is that those defending settlements should make sure to practice their contingencies for dealing with fires." Umptiskrunk glances at Elizzibiana. Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Yeah, not everything involves Master Ushnish." Kethrai asks, "Were they serpentine?" Jaelia whispers something to Imroth. Cherisse says to Elizzibiana, "It is more fun when it does though." Zersha chortles softly at some secret joke. Rudale shrugs. You say, "Monstrous in appearance, but further details slip away from me." Rudale blinks. Elizzibiana says to Cherisse in an archaic accent, "Overuse of something reduces the respect it deserves." You say, "And since we've been discussing fire, I suppose I know which vision to move to next..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Zersha gazes at you. Umptiskrunk raises an eyebrow. You say, "With a sudden WOOSH, a blast of fire roared overhead! I ducked, greeted by the friendly laughter of a crowd enjoying a circus show. Within the darkness of a carnival tent, performers juggled shifting streams of flame that took the shape of fluttering birds and pouncing kittens." Rudale leans against a comfortable chair with Elothean silk upholstery. You say, "One performer waved her arms dramatically, exhaling a massive gout of fire that coalesced into a snarling lion, which clawed the ground with a roar of crackles and cinder. She pirouetted, and three pillars of flame erupted to encircle the beast. The fiery lion reared on its hind legs, exploding into a dazzling swarm of flickering fireflies." You say, "I joined the audience in cheering applause as the glowing insects drifted away." Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "The circus is coming! Finally, a happy vision." Zersha grins, revealing her dimples. You say, "And despite all the fire, still managing to be one of those occasionally pleasant visions." Umptiskrunk loudly says, "Sound like good show. Ump would watch." Casari applauds. Emberus grins. Zersha nods at Umptiskrunk, obviously agreeing with his views. Jaelia asks, "The fireflies again too?" Elizzibiana chortles softly at some secret joke. Anuril takes a sip of his cocktail. Elizzibiana nods to Isaish. Zersha says to Umptiskrunk in a Velakan accent, "I love a circus." You say to Jaelia, "Very briefly, but yes." Jaelia nods. Cherisse says to Zersha, "Me too. So much fun." Zersha nods at Cherisse, obviously agreeing with her views. You say, "Though more fire than fly, I suppose." Umptiskrunk nods to Zersha. Kethrai nods to you. Jaelia laughs! Jaelia nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Kethrai says, "The lion makes me think of what Mark of Arhat looks like, sometimes." Anuril nods. Kethrai says, "But that's not reliable enough to do it for a show." You exclaim, "A magic circus would certainly be entertaining to watch, though my inclination is to think it has something to do with Elemental magic but not an actual circus. I would be happy to be proven wrong!" Zersha grins at you, her dimples flashing into view. Kethrai says, "Sure hope it's not a metaphor." Kethrai nods to you. Casari raises a hand, rubbing her neck absently. Spiraling wisps of light and shadow coalesce in the air overhead, taking on the shape of a blackfire lion. The blackfire lion moves to settle on Casari's shoulder. You grin at Casari. Umron takes a sip of his Expanse. Trajan says, "On the one hand, a literal circus would be entertaining. On the other hand, literal crystal crabs would likely not be." Zersha squints at Trajan. You chuckle. Casari asks, "Are the seared crystal crabs edible?" Zersha asks in a Velakan accent, "Crystal crab cake?" You exclaim, "Probably not... but worth a shot!" Umron muffledly says to Zersha, "Id trh it." Kethrai says, "The crystal crabs can go hang out with the crystal cockroaches..." Zersha says to Umron in a Velakan accent, "Me too." Trajan nods to Kethrai. Zersha teasingly asks Cherisse in a Velakan accent, "Better than spider cakes?" Zersha just nudged Cherisse. Cherisse frowns at Zersha. Kiashandra takes a sip of her cocktail. Zersha grins at Cherisse, her dimples flashing into view. Elizzibiana opens her traveler's backpack. Elizzibiana gets a miniature sand spider cake topped with spicy hhyssk'et jam from inside her traveler's backpack. You say, "Let's see... For the next vision..." Elizzibiana waves a miniature sand spider cake topped with spicy hhyssk'et jam at Zersha. Zersha grins at Elizzibiana, her dimples flashing into view. You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Zersha says to Elizzibiana in a Velakan accent, "I like them." Elizzibiana takes a bite of the cake. Elizzibiana nods to Zersha. You say, "I sat in a sunlit garden beside blossoming lilies and milkweed, watching bumblebees and hummingbirds flit from flower to flower. A large wasp landed on a nearby petal, meticulously cleaning its body." You say, "Suddenly, a nearby bumblebee went rigid. It dropped from its blossom, tumbling helplessly to the dirt. The wasp paused, going perfectly still. On the ground, the bee violently shook itself, took flight with a jerky, unnatural buzz, and hovered directly before the motionless wasp." You say, "The bee deposited a droplet of sweet honey directly into the wasp's open jaws, and then the bee flew off to another flower." Zersha blinks. You say, "The vision faded." Elizzibiana takes a bite of the cake. Karthor stares blankly into the distance. Kethrai says, "Well, that one's not subtle..." Rudale says, "That one is quite unsettling." Cherisse says to Zersha, "Next time I squish some spiders, I'll bake you a cupcake..." Zersha giggles at Cherisse. Elizzibiana snickers. Koryu shifts her weight. Zersha says to Cherisse in a Velakan accent, "Remind me not to take food from you." Casari says, "How sweet." Elizzibiana gets a grilled sand spider heart stuffed with garlic-flavored goat cheese and artichoke hearts from inside her traveler's backpack. Elizzibiana licks a grilled sand spider heart stuffed with garlic-flavored goat cheese and artichoke hearts. You say, "For those unfamiliar, wasps have been determined to symbolize necromancers in past visions." Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "Don't necromancers also have a spell that summons some sort of wasp? I think I saw it kill a lady." Zersha furrows her brow. Umptiskrunk loudly says, "It sounded nice, up until that part with the wasp." Emberus's tail stands rigid against his back, the scales along it lifting to form an alarmed, serrated edge. Umptiskrunk nods. Trajan asks, "And what have bees been determined to symbolize?" Kiashandra takes a sip of her cocktail. Zersha says to Trajan in a Velakan accent, "Fertility? Birds and bees." You say, "I'm not aware of quite as strong an association of something specific to bees." Zersha takes a tiny bite of some golden brown griddle-fried dumplings stuffed with shrimp and aromatics and chews daintily on it. Rudale says, "Honey could be some form of divinity." Kethrai asks, "In this case, it looked like the wasp took control over the bee's body temporarily?" You nod to Kethrai. Several bees swarm around Anuril's head. Zersha glances at Anuril. Zersha says to Kethrai in a Velakan accent, "You might keep an eye on him and his bees." Karthor strokes his beard in thoughtful contemplation. You ask, "Hard to tell exactly what happened with the bee, but perhaps it could have been killed and raised as a zombie. A necromancer taking direct control of their creation?" Kethrai says to Zersha, "I'm not worried about the bee in this scenario, I'm worried about the wasp." Kethrai says to you, "But the bee carried on finding flowers after the transaction was complete." You say, "If it's taking control of another living being, that's even more worrisome." You say to Kethrai, "It might have been going to bring more to the wasp." Kethrai frowns uncertainly. Kethrai says, "Maybe." You say, "Either case is still cause for concern, of course." Rudale says, "The movement of the bee says to me it was raised." Kiashandra says, "The bee is now the wasp's servant, so that tracks." Zersha nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. You say, "Moving on the next vision..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "I soared among the stars, dipping my hands into golden nebulae and spinning silver orbs. A buzzing emptiness rattled my bones, but I pressed past it, ignoring the echoing whispers and threats. I spotted Their constellations glimmering happily in the distance, and I continued onward." Jaelia nods. You say, "Eventually, I came upon a structure of wrong angles and out-of-sequence moments. It lashed out, a razor-edge of shadow screaming toward my form. Without a second thought, I swept woven gold, silver, and darkness before me." You say, "The incoming attack was buffeted, dissipating harmlessly into calm, silent space. I continued onward, and the vision faded." Kiashandra takes a sip of her cocktail. Anuril raises an eyebrow. Zersha ponders. Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "I wonder who They are." Karthor strokes his beard in thoughtful contemplation. You say, "A curious mixture of symbols that speak to both Moon Mages and the Immortals. Perhaps overlapping due to the constellations." Jaelia nods. Rudale nods to you. Rudale says, "The three colors they summon to defend them seems like an immortal reference." Casari says, "Fire can also be gold, silver, and darkness." You say, "The buzzing emptiness... In visions of moving out among the stars, it has not been uncommon for strange things to be lurking in the darkness, even if they don't necessarily seem directly related to the rest of the vision. The Involuted Passage seemed to have some such appearances early on." Kethrai says, "The Immortals are associated with golden light, I'm not sure about the silver and darkness." You say, "And yes, my first impression of the weaving of gold, silver, and darkness was to the different aspects of the Immortals." Rudale nods to you. Kethrai asks, "But if the vision is of one of the Immortals, then it would be Our constellations, not Theirs... right?" You say, "Despite the attack, I did come out with an overall positive impression from the vision... the defensive maneuver, whatever it was, seemed to work well." Casari says, "Perspective's a funny thing." You say, "It could be someone drawing on the power of the Immortals. Magic using Holy mana, perhaps." Anuril says, "Earlier in the vision the nebulae were described as golden and the spinning orbs silver. Those could be the sources used by the individual." Kethrai says, "Potent caster to be flying around the cosmos touring nebulae." Umptiskrunk loudly says, "Is sound nice. Ump would like to fly around in Phelim's gift." Zersha grins at Umptiskrunk, her dimples flashing into view. Paff says, "Was the structure the source of the threats? Or was that something else. They seemed distant from each other, if they are to be related." Kethrai says, "I thought the emptiness was the source of the threats." You say, "It could be either way. Visions in space do seem to sometimes have other things lurking in the edges." You say, "But it would also certainly make sense for the buzzing to be the source of the later attack." Kethrai asks, "The emptiness whispering threats makes total sense if it's related to the Involuted Passage in some way. Wasn't it associated with all the 'you do not have permission' messages?" You say, "I'm still not sure what permission it was referring to... but that does seem to have been the case." Casari says, "Maybe they got permission." Illiya grins at Casari, her dimples flashing into view. You say, "And then there's one more vision to discuss this evening. Which is dramatic, but not as unpleasant as many visions featuring excitement." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Umron ponders. You say, "I stood atop the spine of a jagged mountain range, a breathtaking view stretching to the horizon. The air was sharp and thin, and clouds churned far beneath my feet. Nearby, a large mountain goat meandered with impressive nonchalance, bounding between rock formations toward the peak. A single loose stone dislodged under its hoof, striking a boulder and triggering an avalanche that thundered down the slopes toward an alpine lake below. The goat never looked back." You say, "The roaring rockslide slammed into the water, sending a massive wave surging outward to drown the surrounding banks. As the lake finally settled, its waterline sat significantly lower. Weathered pillars now jutted from the newly exposed mud." Zersha tilts her head, clearly curious about something. You say, "Gripped by curiosity, I began to scramble down the mountainside toward the ruins." You say, "The vision faded." Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Hmm." Kiashandra takes a sip of her cocktail. Karthor scratches his head. Anuril ponders. Jaelia asks, "Do we have an idea where that might be located?" You say, "It could perhaps be as simple and direct as some flooded ruin being uncovered. Which may or may not involve a goat." Elizzibiana chuckles. Mistanna chuckles. Imroth says, "Ruins under a lake sounds neat." Zersha nods at Imroth, obviously agreeing with his views. Cherisse says, "Sounds like Lord Ushnish, gifting the land and revealing a new curiosity." Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Few mountain peaks near water that I've heard of." Kethrai says, "The mountains sound like the Dragonspine, certainly." Jaelia nods at Kethrai, obviously agreeing with his views. Jaelia says, "Something to look at and explore." You say, "There's certainly plenty of mountains about, though I'd have to do some research to think about any particular lakes." Elizzibiana nods to you. You say, "The Dragonspine mountains do seem like a good possibility." Imroth says, "What a goat." Rudale ponders. Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Be a use finally for air bubble." Kethrai says, "The Lake of Tears would be a good possibility, but the vision didn't suggest a huge city right near the lake." Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "I wonder if we can get Sir Olly to keep an eye out for goats on his patrols." Jaelia nods at Zersha, obviously agreeing with her views. Zersha grins at Jaelia, her dimples flashing into view. Jaelia says, "If we spot a goat, we probably need to interrogate them." Zersha giggles at Jaelia. Karthor chuckles. Zersha says to Jaelia in a Velakan accent, "That seems like a baaa-d ideas." Zersha looks at Jaelia, obviously trying not to grin, but the dimples in her cheeks give her away. Jaelia cackles at Zersha! Jaelia nods. Jaelia laughs! Illiya winces. Imroth chuckles. Elizzibiana frowns, shaking her head with an expression of exasperation before resting her face in the palm of her hand. Shaylynne leans on Trajan. Cherisse giggles at Zersha. Jaelia says to Zersha, "One bad pun per public meeting is a new goal it seems." Paff says, "Curious that the goat never looked back, despite the chaos." Jaelia nods at Paff, obviously agreeing with his views. Illiya says, "I guess it wouldn't be a meeting without one." Casari says to Jaelia, "You could have said baaad pun." Casari looks at Jaelia and sighs. Jaelia sighs. Zersha giggles at Casari. Jaelia nods to Casari. Jaelia laughs at Casari. Imroth says, "Cool goats don't look at avalanches." Shaylynne whispers something to Trajan. Kethrai says, "The Laakvor might also fit." Cherisse says to Jaelia, "I trust in your ability to exceed your goal." Jaelia grins at Cherisse. Zersha nods to Imroth. Zersha says to Imroth in a Velakan accent, "Goats don't care." Kethrai says, "There even are old ruins in that area." You stroke your beard in thoughtful contemplation. Kethrai says, "Assuming it's not a metaphor." Anuril takes a sip of his cocktail. Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Only issue I see with it being Laakvor is the bogs, not mountains as I understand it." You ask, "And that covers the visions I had to discuss this evening. Any questions, or other points anyone would like to bring up?" You say, "Well then, thank you all for coming! And I hope you enjoy the rest of the night." You carefully mark your place and close your astronomer's journal, securing the clasp. |
