| You exclaim, "Okay, I think we can probably get started. Thank you all for joining me here this evening!"
You say, "We've got a number of visions to discuss that are less than clear in their meaning, as usual. Though there's at least one where I think I have a decent idea what it's about, in general terms... just not what the vision actually means." You chuckle. Zersha cocks her head at you. You say, "Perhaps we'll start with that one, and then move on to further speculation." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "Brutal rain and sleet battered my face, and I bent against the storm, pressing forward. The wind howled, almost throwing me off balance, and still I pressed onward. A bolt of lightning flashed unsettlingly close, sending a shower of sparks in all directions and momentarily deafening me with a bone-rattling thunderclap. Suddenly, I entered the eye of the storm, and found myself standing before a line of ten pillars. The storm screamed closer." You say, "The pillars began to crack, shaking dust and shedding stone. The vision faded." Sofina just arrived. You say, "I would be very surprised if that doesn't represent the Astral Plane, with the ten pillars in the microcosm." Sofina leans on Aemaranth. Ayrell smiles at Tirost. Aemaranth grins at Sofina, her dimples flashing into view. Zersha giggles at Sofina. Zersha leans over to give Sofina a friendly smooch. Xionara glances at Sofina. Sofina quietly says, "I got lost." Anuril dryly says, "Should have stayed." Tirost raises a hand to his chest and bows his head to Ayrell. Anuril takes a sip of his Expanse. Ayrell smiles at Tirost. Sofina smirks at Anuril. Kethrai takes a sip of his cocktail. You say, "A storm would not be a bad way to represent the travel through the more dangerous parts of the Astral Plane, with the Microcosm being the eye of the storm... but I imagine there's more to it than that. Particularly with the pillars cracking." Sofina asks Anuril, "And deny you the honor of being in my presence?" Sofina smiles at Anuril. Anuril says, "If that's what you want to call it." Valynn ponders. Sofina says, "Thats exactly what I called it." Kethrai nods to you. Anuril grins at Kethrai. Zehira rolls her eyes. You say, "The naming ritual was recently applied to another shard of Grazhir, which has been dubbed Aevargwem. I do wonder if that has something to do with this..." Zalinyar nods to you. Xionara ponders. Xionara glances at you. Sofina says to Zehira, "Careful. I've heard stories of peoples eyes getting stuck when they roll them." Sofina just nudged Zehira. Aemaranth asks you in a melodic accent, "What does the name given to the Shard mean?" Valynn asks you, "Pardon, but not being a moonmage, what do the pillars signify?" Gwenddolyn says, "There were a few other shards it could be too." Zehira says in a proper accent, "I could live with it. Something has to be not perfect." Zehira nods to Sofina. You say, "It's a combination of the Gamgweth words for watch and hunt." Gwenddolyn nods to you. Kethrai asks Aemaranth, "Literally Watch Hunt... Maybe more figuratively, 'to stalk'?" Xionara giggles a little oddly. Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning hazy purple cigarillo. Gwenddolyn says, "Panther vipes." Anuril takes a sip of his Expanse. Valynn gives Jaelia a wry grin. Jaelia grins at Valynn. You say, "The pillars are the anchor points for the conduits that allow moon mages to travel through the Astral Plane, from one shard of Grazhir to another." Jaelia asks, "And why are they cracking, briefly if I may ask?" Aemaranth says to Kethrai in a melodic accent, "Well, at least people know what the name means." Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks. Ayrell smiles at Ezerak. Xionara points at Tirost. Valynn raises a hand to her chest and bows her head to Ezerak. Xionara says in a Prydaenese accent, "Something he did, obviously." You say, "With the Microcosm being, in a sense, Grazhir itself." Xionara hums to herself. Jaelia says, "Oh! Yes." Jaelia nods. Valynn looks at Xionara, obviously trying not to grin. Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning hazy purple cigarillo. Xionara winks at Valynn. Gwenddolyn says, "How many pillars is in it now." Tirost says in Gamgweth, "I do love Gamgweth, but Kethrai probably knows more of its etymology than I do." You say to Jaelia, "I would also very much like to know why they might be cracking." Tirost smiles. Sofina asks something in rudimentary Prydaenese. You say, "There are ten pillars." Jaelia nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Xionara glances at Tirost. Zehira says to Sofina something in fragmented Ilithic. Gwenddolyn says, "I recall some pillars being damaged from an explosion." You say, "The pillars of Nightmares, Tradition, Secrets, Unity, the Shrew, the Heavens, Instrospection, Fortune, Convergance, and the Broken Pillar." Xionara hums to herself. Gwenddolyn says, "Maybe a shard was there all along." Sofina says to Zehira something in Ilithic. Zalinyar nods. Tirost gazes thoughtfully at you. Sofina just nudged Aemaranth. Zehira nods to Sofina. You say, "It is also believed that the pillars were created from the collective unconcious will of moon mages and their interactions with Grazhir. So a crumbling of them has some concerning implications there, as well." Zalinyar frowns. Gwenddolyn asks, "What could cause them to crumble?" Zalinyar says, "That could have ghastly consequences." Xionara frowns at you. You say, "In a literal sense, I suppose some catastrophic disaster occurring within the Astral Plane itself." Valynn frowns. You ponder. You say, "Or perhaps if something happened to the shard Axis..." Kethrai frowns. Gwenddolyn asks, "But where exactly is the axis?" You say, "No one knows." Gwenddolyn chortles softly at some secret joke. Kethrai asks, "Theory is it's in the Reshal sea, right?" Gwenddolyn says, "Worse than a needle in a haystack." You say, "It's an extremely large shard of Grazhir somewhere on Elanthia." Valynn ponders. Valynn asks, "Reshal, eh?" Gwenddolyn says, "Consider where any explosion was when it landed if not in water." Valynn shudders. Gwenddolyn says, "There was one in ker leor a long time ago." Gwenddolyn says, "One in darkstone." You say to Kethrai, "Possibly. There are also many smaller shards lost beneath the sea, which makes it hard to tell." Sofina snickers at Aemaranth. Gwenddolyn says, "One at the volcano just south of riverhaven." Gwenddolyn says, "So those are some places it could have crashed." You say, "Though I suppose it's also possible it was large enough for the impact to have created a crate that became a sea." Zalinyar says, "I've always had a theory of this statue carved out of an unkown material that holds a blueish glow that Terald sold to Raven's court." You say, "A crater, even." Zalinyar shrugs. Gwenddolyn says, "Or any shard not the axis." Gwenddolyn nods to Zalinyar. Gwenddolyn says, "There are a few craters around too,the one in darkstone." Gwenddolyn says, "That is now dirge." Aemaranth grumbles ominously, "May Ushnish's ire not focus on me, nor on my family, that disease and famine may pass us by. May he spare our town from his wrath, lest lava flow and floods strike down." Gwenddolyn says, "The explosion by the palce tiv was found." Gwenddolyn says, "That is near dirge." You say, "There's certainly a great many shards around beyond Axis and the ones that have been named. I believe most of them are just too miniscule in size to be easy to find, or of use for the naming ritual." Sofina smiles at Aemaranth. Sofina leans on Aemaranth. Anuril says, "The remnant of the involuted passage landed in the sea." Tirost glances at Anuril. Kethrai gives Anuril a slight nod. You say, "It's possible that it coming into contact with remnants of Grazhir could have an adverse impact on the Microcosm. Though at least nothing jumped out at me about the vision to suggest that specifically." Anuril nods to you. You say, "Though, speaking of the sea..." You say, "Perhaps I should move on to the next vision." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "An idyllic beach stretched around me, dotted with leaning palm trees and scattered seaweed. I took a deep breath, enjoying the crisp salt of the sea and the gentle, warm breeze that barely stirred a calm midday ocean. An acrid cloud of sour tobacco wafted over my shoulder, and I turned to see the woman in a wide brimmed hat standing nearby, her cataract eyes looking out to sea. She said nothing for a long moment, then pointed at the horizon with her cigarillo and remarked, "It was so peaceful." You say, "She turned to me and shrugged, almost sadly. The vision faded." You say, "No obvious destruction... but the implication of her words seem to have something to do with the ocean." Xionara says in a Prydaenese accent, "Sour tobacco and cataract eyes seems significant." You nod to Xionara. You say, "Yes, features of the woman in the broad brimmed hat." Gwenddolyn says, "What if the shards are being reassembled by the axis, like Liraxes was reassembled." You say, "Who seems to have a connection to disasters." Tirost says to you, "It's as if she sees something that is to come, since the scene itself is so calm, yet says it was peaceful." You nod to Tirost. Kethrai says to you, "She seems to have some kind of connection to... time? The branches and forks it might take? Maybe she's observing the moments when those forks happen." Zalinyar says, "The mentions of eyes in visions is always something to note. With the M named devil in the swamp, eyes were alwyas green." Xionara says in a Prydaenese accent, "It suggests decay. I wonder if the woman is... unnatural." Sofina says something in Ilithic. Zalinyar nods to Xionara. Sofina coughs. Sofina says, "The woman is always around scenes of destruction." Aemaranth nods at Sofina, obviously agreeing with her views. Kethrai nods to Sofina. You say, "In one of the earlier visions featuring her, scars on her face also stood out. Indicating that her eyes were damaged by... something." Zalinyar asks, "So perhaps they were once green?" Zalinyar says, "Hmmmm." Zalinyar ponders. You say, "But yes, she seems to be able to see branching paths in fate." Tirost nods to you. You say, "I'm not sure what exactly she is, but I very much doubt she's a mortal woman." Xionara nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Zersha asks in a Velakan accent, "Could she be a humanoid vision of Fate?" Tirost gazes thoughtfully at Zersha. Valynn says, "Interesting thought." Zalinyar ponders. Zalinyar takes a sip of her rum. Valynn gazes at Zersha. Gwenddolyn says, "I think she is Lady P." Zersha grins at Valynn, her dimples flashing into view. You say, "I think I'll need to make a point of collecting all the visions featuring her into one place, to be easily read." Zalinyar nods to Gwenddolyn. Zalinyar says to Gwenddolyn, "Could be." Zersha says to you in a Velakan accent, "That might be useful." Gwenddolyn says, "Oh maybe you could read those at the next one in sequence." Valynn takes a sip of her brandy. Hebion says to Gwenddolyn, "Very doubtful it's Penelope." You say, "It might take a bit. She has been quite a frequent visitor." You grin wryly. Tirost grins at you. Valynn grins at you. Zalinyar clears her throat. You say, "The next vision features another woman who is not quite as visually identifiable, but also seems to have shown up in a few visions..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Zersha gazes at Sofina. Zersha just tickled Sofina, who laughs and returns the favor. Sofina squirms. You say, "Everything wavered, and I felt wildly disoriented. I found myself looking down an endless hallway filled with featureless doors. One of the doors opened, and an old woman emerged. She turned to me, and with a frown remarked, "You know you are misusing this place. There is no stopping now, but do be careful." You say, "She stepped back through the door and shut it behind her with a loud click. The vision faded." You say, "The hallway filled with doors being another representation of possible futures, I believe." Zersha gazes at Aemaranth. Zersha softly says to Aemaranth in a Velakan accent, "You forgot to say 'Happy birthday'." Aemaranth grins at Zersha, her dimples flashing into view. You say, "We saw the woman closing one off after the Heralds were defeated, for instance." Sofina nods to Aemaranth. Gwenddolyn nods to you. Anuril takes a sip of his Expanse. Aemaranth giggles. Tirost asks you, "Closing off a door, or a hallway?" You say, "A door." Tirost nods. Zersha giggles at Aemaranth. You say, "Unfortunately she did not provide more details on how we are "misusing" the place." Zalinyar says, "So she's closing doors as the possible threads of future are ruled out." Kethrai says, "If the hallway and the doors represent Fate, there are lots of beings who would say Moon Mages are misusing it." Zalinyar ponders. Sofina smiles at Aemaranth. Sofina whistles a merry tune. Kethrai asks, "But they'd be... angier about it?" Zehira shifts her weight. Zalinyar asks Kethrai, "That could be, but what if wh's the one who know's all and when we as elanthians choose a path, she closes the door we chose, or didn't choose, down that hallway?" Zalinyar looks at Kethrai and shrugs. You say, "My original thought on earlier appearances of this woman was the she is Nera, having left marks in the Web of Fate for us to find, but I'm feeling less inclined toward that now. I'm not sure who she might be then, though." Gwenddolyn nods to you. Sofina asks, "Just for the sake of knowledge, who is Nera?" Tirost says, "She does seem to wish the visionary well, even though she suggests the place, the hallway of doors, is being misused. She wants the visionary to be careful, as if she cares about them." Gwenddolyn says, "I thought Nera too, there are not that many who it could be." You say, "Nera is a seer from ancient times, probably one of the most skilled ever to live." Zersha softly says in a Velakan accent, "Doors open too, I wouldn't assume just because one was closed that it's going to stay that way." Zersha shifts her weight. Zalinyar nods to you. Zalinyar takes a sip of her rum. You say, "She built the Planar Telescope, and Named Pelag ai Aldam and the Arbiter in Darkness." You say, "And she is known to have created illusions of herself to appear even centuries after her death." Kethrai says, "Any chance she enjoyed cigarillos..." Tirost grins at Kethrai. You say, "She saw visions of what we would get up to in this time, and had the ability to set up messages based on that, so it is entirely possible that this is still her knowing what we would be doing, and that we'd be doing whatever it is we're doing wrong." You chuckle. Anuril grins at Tirost. Zalinyar asks, "So we could be seeing visions she created a bazillion Andu ago?" You say to Kethrai, "Perhaps! I couldn't say." Tirost smiles at Anuril. You say to Zalinyar, "Possibly. She may have prepared a number of messages that would trigger long after her death, timed to things that she saw would happen in the future." Zalinyar nods to you. You say, "The next vision... has some familiar aspects, at least." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "I walked across smooth glass, my footsteps radiating with concentric phosphorescent pulses. I approached a smooth, matte black monolith bearing a perfect sphere slightly protruding from its base. The obelisk seemed to shudder violently, growing a thousandfold without changing, nearly slamming me back with the force of its presence, as it seethed in fury. A single palm print was visible in the center of the sphere, and I stepped forward, hand outstretched. The obelisk expanded again, ten thousandfold, enormous in its rage." You say, "I touched the palm print. The obelisk was no more than silent rock. The vision faded." You say, "While not quite the same, the experience is not entirely different from interacting with the being trapped in the obelisk in the Frozen Heavens, south of Leth Deriel." Zalinyar rubs her head. Tirost grunts at Valynn. Zalinyar says, "Lots of big words." You say, "I'm not sure what the sphere and the palm print represent, but they appear to have blocked out... something." Kethrai ponders. Kethrai quietly says to Anuril, "Does the one in the Lost Crossing have a handprint on it? That feels familiar somehow." Anuril says, "I don't recall." You say, "It's been a while since I've taken a look at any of the obelisks." You ponder. You say, "I suppose I'll have to go do that, soon." Gwenddolyn nods to you. Zalinyar says, "There's marks on the standing stones in the swamp northeast of Riverhaven, but I don't recall a handprint." Xionara looks thoughtfully at you. You say, "But based on previous experience with obelisks, I do expect that this vision is of some sort of interaction with a being from the Plane of Probability." You say, "And then the remaining vision to discuss this evening is just strange. And... a bit whimsical." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Zalinyar grins at you, her dimples flashing into view. Zalinyar exclaims, "My favorite!" You say, "The ground rumbled softly, and a small mole with gleaming eyes popped through the ground and looked up at me expectantly. The mole sniffed the air, then disappeared back into the hole. I leapt into the hole after the mole, shrinking as I fell, and began to race along the tunnel in pursuit. The creature moved surprisingly fast, and the tunnel curved left and right, made sudden dives, opened to strange caverns lined with glowing mushrooms, and wound between thick roots. Eventually, I turned a sharp corner and found myself face to face with the mole. The mole gestured upward with its furry snout, and I saw an opening ahead, which I climbed up through." You say, "Emerging from the tunnel, I looked around. I was in a completely unfamiliar land. The vision faded." Anuril asks, "Oh, is that how ranger trails work?" Anuril appears to be trying hard not to grin. You chuckle. Zersha softly says in a Velakan accent, "I want to see glowing mushrooms." Kethrai nods to Anuril. Jaelia laughs! Zalinyar ponders. Tirost just nudged Anuril. You say, "A strange experience, but at least not an overtly ominous one." Kethrai says, "Just don't take a left turn at Hibarnhvidar." Zalinyar says, "Ohhhh I think that there will be a new quest for war mages familiars." Anuril nods to Kethrai. Zalinyar nods. Aemaranth says to Zersha in a melodic accent, "And I want a glowing mushroom soup." Zersha giggles at Aemaranth. Tirost chuckles at Zalinyar. Aemaranth grins at Zersha, her dimples flashing into view. Zalinyar grins at Tirost, her dimples flashing into view. Zersha quietly says to Aemaranth in a Velakan accent, "I also wouldn't mind being small enough to ride a mole, just imagine." Zalinyar takes a sip of her rum. Tirost gazes at Valynn. Zalinyar asks, "Or, remember that pool where you pray and turn into a fish?" Zalinyar ponders. Aemaranth says to Zersha in a melodic accent, "I would find a way to get stepped on by some tall Elf." Zersha glances at Sofina. (Zalinyar taps her fingers agains her thigh as she thinks, her eyebrows furrowed) Zersha exclaims to Aemaranth in a Velakan accent, "She'd never!" Zalinyar exclaims, "Maybe it's like that place, only where you don't turn into a fish, but where you turn into a mole!" You exclaim, "It was certainly an interesting experience, at least!" Zalinyar asks, "Which in effect would mean that there's a new alter?" Kethrai says, "It's not the first vision to feature moles, either." You say, "Traveling through something and ending up somewhere strange is not that hard to see. But the meaning of a mole specifically, or shrinking to enter the tunnel..." Anuril dryly says to Tirost, "Well, nothing for us to deal with this time. Seems to be all lunar and nature related. Perhaps fighting the sea, that might be us." Tirost chuckles. Tirost nods to Anuril. Zalinyar says, "Well if you want to think about it literally, it would mean that people who have huge egos need to look at themselves and around them, and take a step back and shrink their selves to be one with the many, instead of having a huge head and ego." Kethrai says to Anuril, "I wouldn't mind making first contact with mole-people." Anuril grins at Kethrai. Tirost laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement. Valynn grins at Tirost. You say to Kethrai, "We have... met some mole-like people before. It did not go well." Anuril raises an eyebrow in your direction. Anuril takes a sip of his Expanse. Kethrai says to you, "The Akul'tiz? These ones seem... friendly enough." You say, "The Akul'tiz were rather less friendly than the mole in this vision, though." You nod to Kethrai. Elizzibiana asks in an archaic accent, "Wasnt there a rumor a very long time ago about a mole like species of humanoids. In a distant land? maybe we are going to have contact with them?" Elizzibiana says in an archaic accent, "Yeah, them, sorry." Kethrai shakes his head. Kethrai says, "There's another, said to live in Albaria, the Nireji." You say, "Well, that would certainly be an unfamiliar land." Kethrai says, "We probably shouldn't go wandering around Albaria if that's where their tunnels lead, though..." Zersha gazes at Kethrai. Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "Have you met people? They'd totally do it." Anuril snorts, loudly. Anuril nods to Zersha. Elizzibiana chuckles at Zersha. Zersha grins at Anuril, her dimples flashing into view. Zersha grins at Kethrai, her dimples flashing into view. Kethrai says to Zersha, "Oh, sure. I said shouldn't, not won't." Zersha nods at Kethrai, obviously agreeing with his views. Zersha chortles softly at some secret joke. Valynn gives Zersha a wry grin. Zersha snuggles up to Valynn. You say, "And let's see... I mentioned the naming of Aevargwem, so I think that covers everything I had to discuss this evening." Valynn grins at you. You ask, "Are there any questions, or other related topics anyone would like to bring up?" Valynn says, "That was a head full of information that has my brain swimming." Zersha nods at Valynn, obviously agreeing with her views. Valynn rubs her head. Zersha says in a Velakan accent, "I think I need to go snuggle a bush and hug a tree." Zersha grins, revealing her dimples. You exclaim, "Well, then, thank you all for coming!" You carefully mark your place and close your astronomer's journal, securing the clasp. |
