You say, "Okay, we're going to try to get started promptly, since I know people may have other plans for the evening."

Gwenddolyn says, "Hi all."

Anuril smiles.

Valynn waves to Gwenddolyn.

Anuril ponders.

You say, "So thank you all for joining me here this evening."

You smile.

Anuril rings his hand bell, producing a clear and delicate tone.

Wisps of softly colored smoke swirl into existence, weaving themselves into a narrow funnel that quickly disperses to reveal a large curving diamondwood bar.

You nod politely to Anuril.

Ezerak doffs his top hat.

Jaelia grins at Ezerak.

You say, "So, to start, let's see..."

Jaelia nods to you.

You turn a page in your astronomer's journal.

Valynn raises a hand to her chest and bows her head to Ezerak.

Anuril nods to Ezerak.

Ezerak smiles at Valynn, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.

You ask, "Why don't we begin with something that seems unusually pleasant?"

Valynn grins at you.

Majelaket casually observes the area.

You say, "A market sprawled before me, and a small child tugged on his grandmother's sleeve."

Casari waves to Ezerak.

Gwenddolyn chuckles.

Valynn grins at Majelaket.

You say, ""Icecream?" the child asked."

Illiya blinks.

You say, ""We still have shopping to finish," the grandmother replied. "Maybe after."

You ask, "The child considered this a moment, and said, "Will you have one as well?"

You ask, "The grandmother smiled, "I'll pick yours and you pick mine?"

You say, "The child beamed ear to ear and nodded. Clasping his grandmother's hand, the two disappeared into the crowd. The vision faded."

Anuril squints at you.

Valynn nods at Anuril, obviously agreeing with his views.

Anuril says, "That is unusually banal."

Anuril ponders.

You say, "I do not have any ideas immediately springing to mind of something terrible icecream could represent."

Valynn grins like an idiot.

You glance at Ezerak, a male Elf.

You glance at Ayrell, a female Elf.

Casari waves to Ayrell.

Valynn smiles at Ayrell.

Ayrell waves to Casari.

Ayrell hugs Illiya, getting a smile in return.

Anuril nods to Ayrell.

Ayrell glances at you.

Valynn gives Ayrell a formal hug, pressing first her right cheek, then her left, against Ayrell's.

Jaelia hugs Ayrell, getting a smile in return.

Ayrell nods politely to Anuril.

Ayrell hugs Jaelia, who wraps her arms around Ayrell with a warm smile.

Ayrell hugs Valynn, getting a smile in return.

Ayrell nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.

Casari searches around for a moment.

You say, "To be impactful enough to leave an impression on the web of fate, though, I'm sure that vision must be more than it seems."

Jaelia exclaims, "Wait a rois, some weird creepy person mentioned I shouldn't be walking alone on a street in Crossings, SO I mention that they can join me in Shard and THOSE people showed up!"

Jaelia flails her arms about.

You say, "Certainly pleasant enough on the surface, though."

Illiya nods to Valynn.

Jaelia says to you, "Apologies."

You take a sip of the champagne.

Kethrai quietly says to Jaelia, "Don't say it so loud when they're in the room."

Ezerak squints.

You exclaim, "Apologies, some... distractions going on. But back to the visions!"

You turn a page in your astronomer's journal.

Shaylynne nods to you.

Casari nods to you.

Anuril asks, "Is there some market that is well known for icecream? Could it be a hint as to where some event will occur?"

Kethrai ponders.

Kethrai looks at Anuril and shrugs.

Gwenddolyn asks, "An ice cream social or a new shop?"

Shaylynne ponders.

You say, "They do have some at one of the buildings at the Chris' Mass festival..."

You ponder.

Anuril nods to you.

Shaylynne grins slowly at Illiya.

Illiya gives Shaylynne a little prod between the shoulder blades.

You say, "Anyway, if it's actually icecream, I approve of more of that for everyone."

You grin.

Jopler chuckles.

Casari says, "Mine always melts."

Casari frowns.

Allye grins.

Ayrell chuckles.

Jaelia says, "Messia has the best ice cream maker now, if any want to visit her regarding this Vision that seems like it would fit."

Illiya says to Casari, "You just have to eat it faster."

Shaylynne says to Casari, "Need to eat it like a Tog."

Shaylynne nods to Illiya.

Illiya nods at Shaylynne, obviously agreeing with her views.

Illiya touches the tattoo on her arm and closes her eyes in concentration.

You say, "The next vision is another appearance of our friends in golden plate..."

Casari says, "Right. Do my best Unaka impression and eat everything I see."

Shaylynne gasps at you!

Shaylynne exclaims to Casari, "Exactly!"

You say, "Everything flickered, the fabric of reality rent. A host of skittering creatures with glowing mouths jittered back and forth around me. They periodically spread wide mandible-like petals and roared, casting a furious sickening light from their gullets that burned my skin and reeked of burnt grease. A lone figure clad in golden plate stepped before me. The figure incanted a litany, surrounding the two of us in a radiant bubble, shielding me from the creatures concussive light and slashing claws. The creatures retreated, and the figure continued to chant."

You say, "The bubble suddenly rang like a gong, nearly deafening me. The figure staggered, but did not falter. A snarling creature reared high and slammed down, causing the ground to shudder. Again. Again. The figure grunted, but did not falter. The creature roared its fury into the shield, and the walls began to glow, and the figure looked back at me and grinned, and the vision faded."

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Shaylynne says, "'I love the golden plate visions."

Jaelia nods at Shaylynne, obviously agreeing with her views.

Jaelia says, "It makes me feel that some of the research and missions do may not be in vain and that things may be revealed in time."

Gwenddolyn says, "My take on the figures clad in golden plate is the original seven paladins, which are both genders so they are not stating a gender."

Shaylynne says, "Sounds like a lion."

Ryeka just arrived.

Sofina laughs!

Sofina nods to Zfora.

You say, "More very strange creatures, of course. The figures in golden plate usually seem to rely on shields and weapons, but they have made use of magic on some occasions in previous visions."

Gwenddolyn nods to you.

Gwenddolyn says, "Very paladin like."

Gwenddolyn says, "Whatever they are protecting others from."

Gwenddolyn winks at Shaylynne.

Shaylynne grins at Gwenddolyn.

Kethrai asks, "The creatures don't sound like anything I'm familiar with...?"

Sofina says to Zfora, "A new pet for us. Lovely."

You say, "The creatures they fight against generally seem to be very strange. And possibly we are not familiar with them because they've kept them from reaching this plane."

Gwenddolyn nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.

Gwenddolyn says, "Yes that may be what the original seven are doing."

You say, "The defense being used and the way it was summoned up seem close enough to the function of casting a spell as we would recognize it, that I wonder if perhaps there's something Paladin magic researchers are up to."

You say, "For the next vision..."

Kethrai nods to you.

You turn a page in your astronomer's journal.

Jaelia nods to you.

You say, "My heart began to slow. In the silence between beats, I heard it, furious in the distance. The sky opened, unfurling around a shape that could not be characterized, blossoming in colors that could not be seen, and I began to fall, between heartbeats, between the silence, closer, ever closer. Strands of stars twinkled, stretched across fathomless emptiness, a web spanning in all directions. The stars began to pulse, coursing with light, propagating star to star. My heart began to beat faster, and I felt it, all around me now, racing along the stars, seeking the when it was broken, seeking the when it could return. My heart began to race. The vision faded."

You say, "That certainly seems like the Web of Fate. And anything angry in relation to that seems likely to be a resident of the Plane of Probability."

Ryeka ponders.

Shaylynne hiccups.

Anuril nods to you.

Gwenddolyn nods to you.

You say, "I'm not sure exactly what might be 'broken' or need to 'return', though."

Ryeka acts puzzled.

Gwenddolyn says, "Something to do with the stars imploding or something that caused it."

Kethrai says, "Could be the Involuted Passage."

Zfora mildly says, "Liraxes stole something."

Valynn asks you, "Does the strands of the Web of Fate ever get damaged? And possibly provide an opening to entrance of a demon?"

Sofina ponders.

You say to Valynn, "The concept of 'damage' is a bit fluid here, but potentially, yes. I don't think that's the likely avenue for a demon, particularly, to come through. But there can be other, stranger things out there."

Ryeka nods.

Valynn nods to you.

You say, "But if something is impacting the web of fate itself, I can only think that it's related to the Plane of Probability, Teleologic Sorcery was involved, or it's something of the scale that would be a threat to all of reality."

Ryeka rubs her nose.

Zfora mildly says, "Reality is so fickle."

Valynn folds her arms across her chest.

Majelaket says, "Another year, another lunar doom."

You say, "The next vision was... a bit unpleasant to experience. And seems to have several different important elements going on."

Anuril raises an eyebrow.

You say, "I roamed a barren salt flat, a bloated orange sun weakly hanging in the sky. The wind howled, carrying a cloying and tantalizing richness, a meat burnt that I immediately felt I should not have enjoyed. Each footstep disturbed caked ash, which billowed around me and stung my eyes. In the distance, I saw a figure moving slowly, trailing a long cloud of dust. I walked toward the figure, and hours passed."

You say, "As I neared, I saw that the figure was actually an enormous mechanical humanoid, pulling a hooked hunk of twisted metal, leaving a miles-long line of turned dirt. The machination stopped when it noticed me, and stood perfectly still. The cloud of dust settled. The two of us stared at one another as the sun set. The vision faded."

Ryeka frowns.

You ask, "An enormous mechanical humanoid, but not the taste of copper. And hints of... cannibalism at the start, I think?"

You say, "Or some other taboo."

Jopler says in a Gamgweth accent, "Muspar'i has both salt flats and constructs."

Ryeka says, "Salt flat? That sounds like outside Muspar'i."

Anuril asks Kethrai, "Sound like farming to you?"

Jopler nods.

Kethrai says to Anuril, "It does sound like an enormous plough, yeah."

Anuril nods.

Gwenddolyn says, "Anything mechanical makes me think it has something to do with whomever contracted whatever is being made in Zengdomagaleth."

Gwenddolyn says, "Or however you say it."

Ryeka nods.

You ask, "Though what do you grow in a salt flat covered in layers of ash?"

Gwenddolyn says, "Apparently a humanoid cannibal."

Kethrai says to you, "Nothing of use to us, at least."

Casari asks, "Outcasts?"

Gwenddolyn grins at you, her dimples flashing into view.

Anuril says, "Well perhaps the mechanical figure was following instructions from an earlier time when things were different."

Shaylynne ponders.

Gwenddolyn says, "Oh that is a good concept."

Gwenddolyn nods to Anuril.

Gwenddolyn says, "Before it was salt flats."

Anuril nods to Gwenddolyn.

Gwenddolyn says, "It was a lake."

Valynn says, "Or, what if it's not a plough, but something the mechanical being is dragging to be fixed."

Gwenddolyn says, "Or ocean."

Ryeka nods.

Anuril nods to Valynn.

Ryeka says, "There is still a swampy area near there infested with leaches."

Gwenddolyn nods to Ryeka.

Kethrai asks, "A swampy area? Near Muspar'i?"

Ryeka asks, "Strange, isn't it?"

Valynn whispers something to Anuril.

You say, "There was a vision not long back of walking in a salt basin, followed by the sun exploding... And then rain which became a hammering wave from the sky."

You stroke your beard in thoughtful contemplation.

Shaylynne asks Ryeka, "That's right, bit of a maze isn't it?"

Ryeka nods to Shaylynne.

Gwenddolyn says, "Like a tidal wave."

Ryeka says, "It was a long time ago, so I couldn't swear to the exact location."

Shaylynne nods to Ryeka.

Gwenddolyn says, "The sun would represent muspari."

You say, "And then I have one more vision to discuss this evening."

You turn a page in your astronomer's journal.

Kethrai angles his ears forward, gazing curiously at you.

You say, "I found myself on the deck of a squat ship, hauling a slippery wet rope. The boat swayed with the ocean swells, though I was able to keep my footing and make steady work on the line. Eventually, a barnacle-encrusted wire-frame trap broke the surface and I wrestled it aboard. After catching my breath, I dumped the contents onto a heavy sorting table and began tossing undersized crustaceans, squirming eels, and an oozing octopus overboard."

Valynn takes a sip of her champagne.

Shaylynne ponders.

You say, "A large lobster waved long antennae at me, raising its claws in challenge, and I paused a moment. Something about this creature seemed... off."

Ryeka nods.

Shaylynne says, "Huh."

You say, "The lobster's antennae began to trail blue, green, and red afterimages, and I began to feel dizzy. The lobster snapped its claw, loudly, and the vision faded."

Shaylynne asks, "Corruption in the sea? The pulsing thing?"

Ryeka says, "Huh."

Valynn raises an eyebrow.

You say, "Something about that struck me as familiar, but I can't quite place it. The colors were used by custodians in Zengmodaleth as well, but I don't think that's the memory it's tickling."

Kethrai asks, "Was that vision before or after Andreshlew surfaced?"

Shaylynne says, "Ohh."

Ryeka exclaims, "I bet the Merelew would know about that!"

Gwenddolyn asks, "Wasn't there one more vision?"

Zfora quietly says, "And just as Srinoja decides to make an entrance. How apropos."

You say, "After, very recently."

Gwenddolyn asks, "About a scarred man?"

Anuril ponders.

You ask Gwenddolyn, "Recently?"

Shaylynne says, "That is very custodian like."

Shaylynne nods to you.

Anuril says, "The remnant of the involuted passage fell into the sea, although I feel as if the person is experiencing some kind of effect unrelated to the lobster. Poisoning or, something like that."

Gwenddolyn says, "Looking at my notes."

Shaylynne nods to Anuril.

Ayrell gazes off into the distance.

Valynn says to Anuril, "It felt hypnotic to me."

Shaylynne says, "Maybe food poisoning from a picnic in zeng."

Shaylynne says, "Certainly not one of Allye's."

Majelaket stares blankly into the distance.

You say, "And yes, I'm sure there's something bad going on with that fragment of crystal from the Involuted Passage in the ocean, one way or another."

Shaylynne nods to you.

Gwenddolyn says, "It was the one that Navesi mentioned having."

Gwenddolyn says, "About a scarred man."

You ask Gwenddolyn, "The scarred S'Kra?"

Gwenddolyn nods to you.

Kethrai says, "I'm with Miskton that the lobster doesn't relate to the custodians. Wrong set of colors, and the custodians used their colors very... crisply, to communicate. Along with musical tones. Not wavy afterimages."

Gwenddolyn says, "It made me think of 2 possibilities."

Anuril says, "The visual distortion could be from a failure of the person's own senses, or biology."

Kethrai nods to Anuril.

Ryeka ponders.

Gwenddolyn says, "The old man in Muspari, Ushikhh."

Shaylynne says, "Ah."

Gwenddolyn says, "Or possibly Shaarl."

You say, "In the context of the vision Navesi experienced, whoever it is, they're a Dragon Priest."

Ryeka frowns.

Gwenddolyn nods to you.

Gwenddolyn says, "Either one could be."

You say to Gwenddolyn, "That's a bit unkind to say about Ushikhh."

Gwenddolyn says, "Well he could be a follower."

Anuril says, "The fisherman handled the rope, touched other sea creatures, perhaps some kind of contact poison."

Gwenddolyn says, "Many in muspari may be."

Sofina rolls her eyes.

Sofina snorts, loudly.

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Gwenddolyn says, "They would not have built a temple there otherwise."

You say to Anuril, "My gut feeling is that it's related to the antenna movements, but poison is a possibility as well. Or both."

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Shaylynne nods to Illiya.

You ask, "I suppose it could be the lobster casting a spell?"

You ponder.

Anuril snorts, loudly.

Ryeka chuckles.

Gwenddolyn asks, "Lobsters casting magic?"

Ryeka says, "Cloud rats do."

Ryeka shrugs.

Gwenddolyn says, "Whatever fell in the water empowered them."

Zfora says, "Honestly it's all probably just about some new avante garde cuisine."

Ryeka nods to Gwenddolyn.

Zfora says, "Tricolor lobster tail, love it."

You chuckle.

Anuril dryly says, "Rangers learned how to electro-punch from eels, perhaps they will learn how to grow antennae."

Sofina says to Zfora, "I do enjoy lobster. They serve it down by beach in Crossing."

Valynn smirks at Anuril.

Zfora nods to Sofina.

Ryeka grins, revealing her dimples.

You say to Anuril, "Perhaps it can be replicated with a properly waxed mustache."

You grin.

Anuril grins at you.

Illiya grins at you, her dimples flashing into view.

Ryeka chuckles.

Shaylynne holds two hands up on either side of her head.

Shaylynne nods to Valynn.

Shaylynne says, "There we go, antennae."

You grin at Shaylynne.

Anuril nods to Shaylynne.

Ryeka grins at Shaylynne, her dimples flashing into view.

Majelaket takes a sip of his absinthe.

Jopler smirks.

Shaylynne grins at Valynn.

Valynn praises Shaylynne.

Ryeka grins at Shaylynne, her dimples flashing into view.

Shaylynne gazes at Valynn.

Kethrai says, "If it was something Navesi experienced, it would have been a vision of the past, right? Are we sure this scarred S'Kra was male? It could well have been Dzree, she was in extremely poor health by the end."

Gwenddolyn says, "But shaarl is still alive."

Gwenddolyn says, "Dzree is not."

You say to Kethrai, "It should be something in the past. I believe Navesi did specify 'he' when referring to the S'Kra."

Kethrai says, "And Bards are connected to the past, not the present or future."

Casari says, "Usually. Not always."

Gwenddolyn says, "Much like the golden plate, no gender revealed."

Gwenddolyn says, "Those in golden plate."

You say, "And his occupation appeared to be a torturer. In the vision she was hung upside down, and he was preparing to do... something with rusty spikes."

Illiya says, "Don't let Srinoja see it, she'd probably try to steal the armor off their bodies."

Ryeka nods at Kethrai, obviously agreeing with his views.

Gwenddolyn says, "And he wears spikes, shaarl."

Gwenddolyn says, "On his hands."

Anuril glances at some steel elbow spikes.

Anuril casually observes the area.

Sofina gasps at Anuril!

Anuril smirks at Sofina.

Shaylynne takes a sip of her champagne.

Sofina exclaims to Anuril, "You are the torturer!"

Anuril gazes upward.

Anuril dryly says, "Curses, I've been found out."

Sofina snaps her fingers.

Ryeka laughs!

Sofina chortles softly at some secret joke.

Ryeka sticks her tongue out at Anuril.

Kethrai asks Anuril, "You've been hiding your scales this whole time?"

Anuril nods at Kethrai, obviously agreeing with his views.

Sofina squints.

Anuril hisses at Kethrai.

Sofina asks, "Where ever did you get that human skin?"

Kethrai gives Anuril a friendly nudge as he brushes his tail against his waist.

Sofina gives Anuril a good pinch!

Majelaket raises an eyebrow.

Casari says something in perfect S'Kra.

Anuril blinks at Casari.

You say, "So, that's all I had to discuss this evening, and I know people may need some time to get ready for that party I've been hearing about on the gweth."

You take a sip of the champagne.

Ryeka chuckles.

Anuril bows to you.

You ask, "Is there anything else anyone would like to bring up?"

Valynn gazes at Anuril.

Valynn ponders.

Gwenddolyn says, "Thanks Miskton."

You gaze skyward and trace the planetary alignments in the air as you prepare the Moongate spell.

Gwenddolyn waves.

Kethrai bows to you.

You say, "And I can open a moongate back north."

Shaylynne beams at you! What a warm feeling!

Illiya smiles at you, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Jopler stands up.

You exclaim, "Well then, thank you all for coming!"

You gesture.

A swirling vortex of shadows draws itself from the ground and coalesces into a Katamba-black Moongate with a hazy border of protean shadow, which yawns open like a hungry maw.

Valynn smiles at you.

Majelaket peers through the Katamba-black Moongate.

Kethrai peers through the Katamba-black Moongate.

Ryeka grins, revealing her dimples.

You carefully mark your place and close your astronomer's journal, securing the clasp.
