| You say, "Okay, I think we can probably get started."
Valynn smiles at you. Valynn places a hand on her chest and bows her head to you. Elurora takes a bite of the pastry. You say, "Thank you all for joining me here today! We've got a number of new visions to discuss, many of them seeming to relate to the Immortals." Valynn nods politely to Gwenddolyn. Briaen raises an eyebrow. You say, "Given all the movement up in the sky, this is perhaps not surprising." Gwenddolyn grins at Valynn, her dimples flashing into view. Elurora nods to you. Allye smiles at you. You say, "On that note, I think we'll begin with those visions that seem to clearly be related to particular Immortals, by way of the appearance of their symbolic animals." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Elurora tilts her head, clearly curious about something. Allye trills at the wolf. Valynn gazes at you. Ruea says to Anuril in a lilting accent, "Is being very Anuril today." Ruea leans on Ayrell. Anuril nods to Ruea. You say, "I stood atop a massive tower, a crashing ocean tortured by lightning strikes and punctuated by upthrust stones stretching in all directions. A strangely huge albatross swooped down and landed next to me, glancing at me a moment before it began to groom its tail feathers. The bird was magnificent, standing nearly as tall as me. It plucked a tailfeather and laid it at the ground before me, then with a few mighty flaps, dove from the tower and glided away." Ruea winks at Anuril. You say, "I grasped the feather and was suddenly sure of everything. The vision faded." Elurora ponders. Aerilia ponders. Elurora quietly asks Betlind, "Which Immortal is an albatross?" Elurora shifts her weight. You say, "Lemicus." Elurora smiles at you. Allye nods in agreement. Gwenddolyn nods. Anuril says, "Avoid feathers, got it." Valynn asks, "Is there symbolism with the gift of a feather?" Anuril takes a sip of his Expanse. Ruea says in a lilting accent, "Sounds a bit like he's telling you to ignore the chaos, keep the faith, and you'll survive the storm." Ruea says in a lilting accent, "Or in this case, the creepy people hovering." Gwenddolyn says, "The gift of a feather is reassurance they are there for support." You say, "While some people don't need a gift from the goods to be completely sure about everything, it was definitely an interesting sensation." Allye says, "Feathers can be offered to Lemicus for favors, too." You say, "Gift from the gods, rather." You clear your throat. Elurora gazes thoughtfully at Allye. Aerilia says to Valynn, "Seemed like a gift of knowledge, maybe? Lemicus is patron of libraries, I've heard." Elurora leans on Betlind. Betlind leans on Elurora. Valynn ponders. Ruea winks at Ayrell. Valynn asks Aerilia, "What knowledge though? Just a reassurance all is well?" Ayrell chuckles at Ruea. You say, "It did strike me as potentially some sort of guidance being granted. Confirming an approach to something, perhaps." Gwenddolyn nods at Valynn, obviously agreeing with her views. Aerilia says to Valynn, "Maybe something to do with the upcoming battle." Betlind nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Valynn gets pale grey dove-feather quill with a steel-tipped nib from inside her jadeleaf satchel. Valynn jots down some notes. You say, "Being able to recall just what I felt so sure about would be helpful, but unfortunately I wasn't able to grasp that from the vision." Allye nods to you. You say, "It does seem to be some sort of assistance being granted by Lemicus, however." Briaen nods in agreement. Briaen gazes upward. Aerilia nods. You say, "Perhaps she will be pointing us towards what assistance we might be able to offer the Immortals." Betlind nods in agreement. Valynn says, "That would be good to know." Valynn nods to you. Aerilia nods. You say, "And then another vision along similar lines..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "The wind howled, and I squinted in the darkness. As my vision adjusted, I found myself in a simple log cabin, the shutters rattling noisily as the timbers creaked and groaned against the storm outside. An icy frost grew in the corners of the cabin. With a snort, a large ox stepped around me, seeming to fill the room, and bent its massive snout to the hearth, which erupted with warm, crackling flames. The ox shook its head and disappeared. The fire remained, its warmth melting the encroaching frost, its crackles muting the howling wind. A flurry of shadows crept across the ceiling, and the vision faded." Gwenddolyn says, "Ahh Truffenyi." You nod. Allye beams! Aerilia nibbles her lip thoughtfully. Elurora says, "They have a similiar sort of feel." You say, "Some sort of protection being granted, perhaps." Betlind nods at Elurora, obviously agreeing with her views. Gwenddolyn says, "Same offering support." Elurora nods to you. Valynn nods to you. Briaen nods at Gwenddolyn, obviously agreeing with her views. You say, "The way the shadows caught my eye is of concern, though it is something that wouldn't be unexpected in a dark cabin with a single light source from the fire." Aerilia nods. Gwenddolyn says, "Where there is light there is also darkness." Betlind says, "Well, just shows us the danger still lurks, regardless of the support we get from the Immortals." Valynn asks, "It feels like they were driven from the room by the ox?" You say, "That is a possibility." You nod. Ruea smiles. You say, "And then, a third vision featuring one of the Immortals' animals." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "Standing on a riverbank, I picked up a flat rock, feeling the stone against my palm. With a flick of my wrist, I watched as the stone skipped several times before it gave a final plonk and disappeared beneath the water. A small scorpion skittered over my foot and onto the flowing river. Walking across the water, the scorpion zigzagged across the river, growing larger and larger. Stepping onto the opposite bank, the scorpion stepped over the trees, over the hills, and grew to the size of a mountain. The vision faded." Elurora blinks. Gwenddolyn says, "Interesting he grew to be a giant." Betlind cocks her head. Gwenddolyn says, "Just like the ox grew." Valynn ponders. Aerilia says, "A sight that's become familiar, I'd say." You say, "That Urrem'tier is going to have a particular involvement in whatever is going to happen seems clear from the movements of the scorpion in the sky." Aerilia points up. Betlind says, "And the albatross." Sofina just arrived. Elurora glances outside a moment. Gwenddolyn nods to you. Sofina leans against some sturdy bookcases packed with reference material. Sofina casually observes the area. Valynn nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. You say, "In this case the animal didn't seem to be offering help, but more focused on its own goal." Valynn jots down some notes. Allye nods to you. You say, "Given everything going on, it's my assumption that all three of those visions are related. And with the increase in visions focused on the Immortals, it's my hope that whatever they are planning will be going into motion soon." Aerilia nods in agreement. Elurora nods to you. Gwenddolyn shifts her weight. Valynn nods to you. You say, "The next vision... is a bit different." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Aerilia tilts her head to one side. You say, "I found myself walking across the ridge of a massive sand dune, the three moons burning above and casting erratic shadows. My feet made a gentle swooshing sound as I trekked forward, no destination visible save a vast horizon beyond a sea of desert." You say, "A pair of stars began to twinkle brightly, trailing opposing tails of purple nebulae." You say, "A second pair joined the first, and similarly began to trail nebulous purple tails. A third." You say, "Six stars glared down at me, and suddenly, I felt myself slammed into the soft sand, grit working into my clothes, my face, my mouth and eyes and nose, and I began to choke as the sands engulfed me. I twisted around and caught a glimpse of the moons, but saw nothing more beyond three pairs of menacing eyes glaring down at me. The vision faded." Aerilia furrows her brow. Gwenddolyn says, "The Heralds." Betlind blinks. You say, "There are number of different symbolic elements there that we've seen some of before." Elurora rubs Betlind's back. Elurora quietly asks Betlind, "Could be where the next artifact is?" You say, "Stars seem to often represent denizens of the Plane of Probability, but the number six is often linked to the moon mage guild, from the sects that form it. The color purple often has something to do with sorcery..." Aerilia ponders. Allye angles her ears forward in curiosity. Valynn asks, "Could the pairs be associated with pairs of eyes?" Gwenddolyn asks, "Isn't the Gnar Peth related to purple?" Betlind asks Elurora, "Could be quite possible. Though the other vision on such was a bit more... direct?" You say, "Three pairs of eyes glaring down from the sky certainly seems likely to have something to do with the Heralds." Gwenddolyn says, "I thought the eyes seemed to be the Heralds." Elurora ponders. Elurora nods to Betlind. You say, "The eyes could be glaring down because they have been afflicted by sorcery in some manner, which would track what we know of the Heralds." Gwenddolyn asks, "Seemed to be either in muspari or the dunes of despair in Qi?" Shaylynne takes a sip of her Expanse. Valynn says, "Until you were forced face down into the sand, I thought maybe the stars were coming back." Valynn grins wryly. Elurora flashes a quick grin at Valynn. Aerilia grins at Valynn. Gwenddolyn says, "What first looked like stars turned out to be 3 pairs of blinking eyes, the Heralds." You say to Gwenddolyn, "The color purple is associated with the Prophets of G'Nar Peth... but honestly I can't recall of anyone ever deciphering enough of the meaning of G'Nar Peth to be helpful in determining anything." Aerilia says to Valynn, "With Liraxes' help they will, I think." Gwenddolyn nods to you. Valynn grins at Aerilia. Elurora gazes off into the distance. Betlind leans on Elurora. Elurora leans over and scratches Betlind's back. Gwenddolyn says, "It may be that they possess knowledge of something related to this incident." Betlind lets out a sigh of contentment. You say, "If the eyes do represent the Heralds, that makes me feel more strongly that the purple represents sorcery, given their feelings toward it, and developments like the reports of Liraxes planning to use it as a weapon against them." Gwenddolyn nods to you. Gwenddolyn says, "Seems likely." You say, "The being crushed... perhaps does not bode well for that attempt, though." Shaylynne winces. Valynn says, "I suppose we won't escape the coming encountered unscathed." Betlind nods at Valynn, obviously agreeing with her views. Aerilia gives a slight nod. You say, "Though, the vision did not end with a fatality, and perhaps the events might serve to distract the Heralds." Aerilia nods to you. Valynn says, "Sand pie. How delicious." Valynn grins at you. You say, "It did not end in a good situation, granted, but it was not inescapable." Gwenddolyn says, "Liraxes did say there would be an opporunity to distract the Heralds for the Immortals." Aerilia says, "That's Liraxes' intention, I think? Provide a distraction for the Immortals' sake." Shaylynne says, "Sand in your eyes, maybe the result is just unclear." You say, "That's what I've heard, yes." Betlind gnaws on her lip. Valynn grins at Shaylynne. Casari says, "We hope that's Liraxes's actual intention." Elurora says to Casari, "I'm fairly certain it'd lie to us if it got it the results it wanted." Elurora shifts her weight. Casari nods emphatically. You say, "The last new vision I have to discuss is not the most overtly terrible, but was still a distressing experience." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Elurora cocks her head at you. Betlind says to Elurora, "Mm, that or its ideas of balance may not exactly fall in line with our overall well-being or safety." Allye angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at you. Elurora nods at Betlind, obviously agreeing with her views. You say, "I sat at a bench, before an easel with brushes and paints ready and waiting. I looked around, unsure of what to do next, when I noticed a folded piece resting in the brush holder. I unfolded the page and read the following:." You say, "Welcome to the pinnacle. Today, you will be painting your last dream. For your recollection, you dreamt:." You say, "You are stocking an ice chest. You place several apples, a wedge of cheese, a chunk of butter wrapped in wax paper, and a freshly caught-." You say, "The words, "NOT THIS" leapt into my mind." Elurora gazes at you. You say, "-into the icy depths. A woman leans against a nearby doorframe, smiling as she watches you, but her attire-." You say, "The words, "YOU MUST RUN NOW" replaced what I was reading." Aerilia blinks. Betlind cocks her head. Allye frowns. You say, "-and a small puppy leans against her leg. The puppy has one folded ear and its bright pink tongue hangs-." You say, "The words, "THEY ARE COMING, YOU MUST WAKE UP" filled my thoughts." You say, "-its eyes bright and mischievous." Elurora raises an eyebrow. Gwenddolyn says, "Wonder who is warning the person in the vision." Ruea says in a lilting accent, "How fun." You say, "I reached for a brush, and the vision faded." Allye says, "How disconcerting." Aerilia says, "That does sound alarming." Valynn frowns. Betlind nods at Allye, obviously agreeing with her views. Elurora softly says, "It reminds me another vision somehow but I can't remember which." Casari asks, "Your most recent dream, or your final dream?" Elurora gazes off into the distance. Gwenddolyn asks, "They being the Heralds?" Gwenddolyn says, "Final." You say to Casari, "A concerning distinction." Valynn jots down some notes. Valynn furrows her brow. Shaylynne says, "And will we ever know what the fourth item in the ice box was." Shaylynne knits her eyebrows together in a thoughtful frown. Betlind grins, revealing her dimples. You say, "It also has some uncomfortable similtary to the kind of thing I was experiencing while captured by the Heralds, though I did not have anyone able to try to get me to wake up until we were rescued." Betlind frowns. Shaylynne asks, "Ohhh...that was like a dream state wasn't it?" Shaylynne scratches her head. You nod to Shaylynne. Shaylynne shudders. Gwenddolyn says, "I really don't like the butter, it seemed out of place with the cheese and apple." You say, "Though, I'm not sure if the Heralds would really be "coming". They certainly seem to already be here." Shaylynne says, "Wonder if they have anyone else captive..." Gwenddolyn says, "Let's hope nothing else comes." Casari shrugs. Casari asks, "They must be heralding for something, right?" Elurora asks, "They have lots of people captive, I thought?" Betlind nods to Elurora. Gwenddolyn says, "There was one more wasn't there, we never know who it was." Betlind says, "Was a vast number of people being held captive by them in a vision shown to us by Unaka." You say, "I wasn't in a position to observe, but it sounded like there were more people visible in the Null Prison when we were rescued." Elurora nods to Betlind. Elurora nods to you. Aerilia nods. You say, "...Probably people, anyway." Betlind nods. Shaylynne says, "Maybe the vision is from the perspective of one of them." You stroke your beard in thoughtful contemplation. Gwenddolyn says, "Interesting outlook." You say, "That's an interesting thought." Gwenddolyn chuckles at you! Shaylynne says, "I have to rest, glad I could make it for a bit." Elurora hugs Shaylynne, getting a smile in return. Shaylynne hugs Allye, who wraps her arms around Shaylynne with a warm smile. Shaylynne hugs Elurora, getting a smile in return. Valynn grins at Shaylynne. Gwenddolyn waves to Shaylynne. Valynn waves to Shaylynne. Betlind hugs Shaylynne, getting a smile in return. Shaylynne grins at Valynn. Shaylynne hugs Betlind, getting a smile in return. Shaylynne hugs Gwenddolyn, getting a smile in return. You ask, "Anyway! Those are the visions I had to discuss this evening. Does anybody have any additional thoughts, or other things they'd like to bring up?" Anuril says, "It never occurred to me the extent to which the immortals can thumb the scales of these visions, I had always thought they were interpretations of emanations from another plane, one largely free of their meddling. But they are probably firming up their control of the realm. I doubt we shall ever see something they don't want us to again. You may as well call yourself cleric, court mage." Anuril bows. Veteran Apprentice Anuril goes southwest. Elurora gazes off to the southwest. Elurora chews on her lip, looking deep in concentration. Betlind rubs her nose. Elurora raises her hand. You nod to Elurora. Valynn ponders. Valynn shades her eyes and gazes off to the southwest. Briaen chuckles to himself. Elurora asks you, "Do you know where the visions you see come from?" You say, "That's a matter of some discussion. My personal theory, that I've written about before, is that the visions are the results of our mortal minds attempting to comprehend information flowing to us via our link to the Plane of Probability." Betlind asks, "And, natural follow-up question, I suppose, but how much do you feel the Immortals are able to influence such?" Elurora says, "I'd say Unaka's visions come straight from the Immortals, and it seems that the Heralds are able to also create visions, though I can't say if they differ..." Elurora shifts her weight. You say, "It may be possible for something to tap into that... but determining the difference between a vision occurring because of direct intervention versus something occurring because of the impact of the entities involved on the web of fate itself is difficult to say." Betlind nods to Elurora. Betlind nods to you. You say, "The Immortals are definitely capable of bypassing that whole matter and sending visions to mortals directly if they wish, though." Aerilia nods. Elurora slowly asks, "Could a powerful enough being...tug at those strings of...fate and create one if they wanted maybe?" Elurora furrows her brow. Casari says, "I can give visions of being on fire." Elurora grins at Casari. Betlind grins at Casari, her dimples flashing into view. You say, "The only instance I can think of where there was good reason for suspicion that something was interfering was Pelag ai Aldam addressing seers directly in visions." Elurora gazes thoughtfully at you. Betlind blinks. Aerilia ponders. Elurora asks, "Who?" Gwenddolyn says, "That is possible still then." Elurora grins sheepishly. Betlind says, "Afraid that's not a name I know either." Betlind frowns. You say, "The Servant of Fate. A being who dwells in the Astral Plane and attempts to kill anyone he finds passing through there." Aerilia asks, "I don't know who the old woman is that has been featured in many visions, but weren't they essentially.. creating those visions for our sake?" Elurora blinks at you. Betlind says, "Oh, well then..." Betlind says, "Sort of a guardian then, I suppose I can respect that... Just... not all the murder, maybe." Betlind rubs her nose. You say, "That's true. Nera has managed to leave impressions such that we see visions of her even now, with her long gone." Gwenddolyn nods to you. You say, "But how she did that is also unclear. She was perhaps the greatest seer who has ever been, so if she saw things long before the rest of us would, she could also have acted in ways to leave an impression." Elurora asks, "Like an echo almost?" Elurora peers quizzically at you. Aerilia gives a slight nod. You say, "In a rather blunt form... if somebody wanted moon mages to see a vision of fire, they could start preparing to engage in a massive arson campaign." Casari grins. Casari says, "Don't look at me." Elurora gazes thoughtfully at you. Aerilia chuckles. Betlind snickers at Casari. You chuckle. Elurora giggles at Casari. Ayrell laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. Gwenddolyn says, "Zalinyar." Elurora says to Casari, "You could test this for science." Elurora nods to Casari. Aerilia asks you, "To be specific, I meant the creepy old woman in a big hat that smokes a cigar.. I think? Has that figure been identified?" Betlind grins, revealing her dimples. Gwenddolyn shakes her head at Aerilia. Casari grins at Elurora. You say, "Ah, her. No, there's been no conclusive determination to her identity." Gwenddolyn says, "I think it is Lady P, but who knows." Aerilia nods to you. Ruea says in a lilting accent, "Sounds like my ex-mother in law." Ruea leans on Ayrell. Gwenddolyn says, "It is someone from back that far in time." Ayrell chuckles at Ruea. You say, "If she is directly interacting to place herself in our visions, I would surmise she's a denizen of the Plane of Probability. But she might "simply" be a powerful entity who is making herself present at points of importance to the web of fate." Aerilia nods. You say, "But anyway, yes, the possibility of the Immortals directly putting their finger on the scales, so to speak, can't be completely ruled out." You ask, "Any other points people would like to bring up?" Elurora says, "Or it's just that fate is leaning that way a lot so we're seeing more Immortal-y visions. Well, you are, I'm not seeing any." Aerilia says, "How unfortunate that man started an interesting conversation he had no desire to be a part of." You nod to Elurora. Gwenddolyn grins at Elurora, her dimples flashing into view. Elurora grins at Aerilia. Betlind begins chortling at Elurora. Aerilia smiles quickly. Gwenddolyn says, "Yet, hopefully not." Valynn puts her notebook in her black silk cloak. Valynn pats a billowing black silk cloak. You say, "Well, we're getting close to the starting point for the Mountain Guard patrol, so I think at this point I'll thank you all for coming and bring this meeting to a close." You smile. Elurora smiles at you. You carefully mark your place and close your astronomer's journal, securing the clasp. |
