You exclaim, "Okay, I think we can probably get started. Thank you all for coming!"
You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Elurora smiles at you. Tirost takes a sip of his rum. Vaddon laughs! You say, "Since we're already talking about it, I suppose we can start with the vision that seems to be related to the Nascent Unknown, and possibly gives some clues as to where it is, or will be soon." Aluwyyn gazes at you. Aislynn gazes at you. Elurora takes a sip of her water. You say, "With a hammering blow, I felt the air torn from my chest and found myself cast high into the sky, the curve of Elanthia falling away as I flailed madly to orient myself. Yavash snickered as I fell, and I tumbled, blazing past a malevolent, black planet with bright white clouds. It reached out and grabbed me in its embrace, flinging me in a new trajectory towards a distant crystal-blue orb. I continued to spin head over foot, unable to control my tumble, and I caught the barest glimpse of a small smudge streaking across my path. The blue orb reached out and grabbed me, and I plummeted through cold clouds and lashing rain, the ocean growing larger with white-tipped waves and spinning crystalline serpents. In desperation, I shielded my face with my arms, and then the vision faded." Elurora blinks. Vaddon smiles. You say, "The planets in question appear to be Szeldia and Merewalda, the next two planets from the sun after Elanthia." Aislynn ponders. Vaddon smiles at Zalinyar. Aluwyyn raises an eyebrow. You say, "I'm not sure about any prior suggestions that there is life on Merewalda, though of course anything seen via a vision does have to be taken with a grain of salt." Zalinyar curtsies to Vaddon. Tirost scratches his storm-grey cat. Otherion leans on his staff. Aluwyyn gazes at you. Whynd smiles. Whynd waves. Elurora smiles at Suberri. Aluwyyn nods politely to Whynd. You say, "But it would seem that, at least in terms of the heavens, the Nascent Unknown is not very far away. Or soon won't be, at any rate." Klaros nods to Whynd. Ghust waves to Whynd. Jaelia nods. Tirost asks you, "Have you seen other visions related to it?" Jaelia nods to Whynd. Whynd chuckles. Whynd rubs his right leg. You say to Tirost, "There have been a few previous visions of a smudge of light in the sky, starting prior to it actually being observed." Elurora softly asks Suberri, "What does 'nascent' mean?" Syeh grins at Whynd, her dimples flashing into view. Tirost nods to you. Whynd smiles. Syeh leans on Whynd. Whynd nods to Syeh. Suberri quietly says to Elurora, "Beginning usually. Something with potential." Elurora grins at Suberri. You say, "The previous visions were mostly of the form of looking at the sky and just barely being able to make something out. This is the first one involving a, ah, somewhat closer look." You chuckle. Tirost grins. You say, "Still not much in the way of details to make out about the object itself, though." Vaddon smiles. You say, "But the views of Szeldia and Merewalda were fascinating, if brief." Tirost nods in agreement. Gwenddolyn asks, "What about the black and purple cloud?" Gwenddolyn asks, "Has that changed?" Briaen glances at Whynd. You say, "If you are referring to the one in a somewhat recent vision, there have been no further signs of that." Gwenddolyn nods. Syeh stands near Whynd. Elurora takes a sip of her water. You say, "The cloud around the constellation of the Wolf also does not seem to have changed." Zalinyar grins at Vaddon, her dimples flashing into view. Tirost frowns slightly. Tranta raises her hand. You say, "Anyway, as far as the Nascent Unknown... if you look at it now, you'll see that rather than a smude, it's more in the form of a line, taking up about 5 degrees of the sky, but frequently changing its angles." Elurora nods to you. Vaddon nods to you. Klaros says, "Its definatly not a comet then if its turning." You say, "I think the root cause of that is probably still the same as the smudge from before, that it is moving extremely quickly, and leaving a trail behind it. But as to what is behind the patterns it's moving in, that I couldn't say." You nod to Klaros. Vaddon ponders. Tranta asks, "How much time has passed since the vision showed it as a smudge versus the line we see now?" Whynd smiles at Syeh. Syeh grins at Whynd, her dimples flashing into view. Vaddon asks, "Wonder if the 5 degrees mean something like on a clock or calender?" Otherion says, "Five degress is about the width of three fingers." Elurora gazes down at her hands. Vaddon jots down some notes. You say, "The degrees are a way of dividing up the space of the sky when you look up at it, since it surrounds us, thus 360 degrees in total." Whynd chuckles. You say, "And it was some time between the first visions of a smudge and when it was first spotted, but the change from a smudge to the current line did not take very long at all." Tirost takes a sip of his rum. Jaelia gazes intently into her sanowret crystal, and scintillating sparks of light dance across its surface. You say, "Most of the rest of the visions I have to discuss this evening are a bit less clear in what they might be related to, except for one that I'll probably save for the end." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Jaelia smiles at Navesi. Tirost smiles at Navesi. Navesi nods politely. Aluwyyn gazes at you. Elurora bows to Navesi. Briaen nods to Navesi. You say, "So, of the other ones, let's move on to..." Navesi smiles at Ayrell. Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. You say, "A turbulent, wind-lashed ocean spread before me, with mountains of seething waves coursing by, their peaks swept to hissing foam beneath a howling storm. A small rowboat crested a tall wave, its bow hanging precariously over the watery cliff for a fleeting moment before tipping and coursing towards the trough. A thin but muscular man sat in the boat, his feet braced against the interior of the vessel, methodically rowing in strong, smooth strokes. The boat surged forward with each pull of the oars, climbing the next wave and continuing along. The man glanced at me as the boat passed, steam coursing from his body, his face passive and expressionless. Then the vision faded." Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. Syeh waves dismissively. You say, "Somebody moving through a storm without being bothered by it could be all sorts of things." Elurora jokingly says, "I don't know what I'd think if I saw Mister Miskton standing out in the ocean either." Ezerak hugs Navesi, who wraps her arms around Ezerak with a warm smile. You say, "Some sort of calamity, perhaps natural, perhaps not. But there doesn't seem to be too much to go on for the man's identity." Tirost smiles at Navesi. Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. Tirost says to you, "The steam rising from his body is an interesting detail." Elurora takes a sip of her water. You say, "The steam could be of interest. It's unclear what the temperature was like, though in a storm at see probably chilly, but he also wasn't giving much sign of strongly exerting himself. Or at least, not to a point where it was causing him any issue." Klaros says, "It sounds to me like someone is heading somewhere, and is not letting any struggle deter him." You say, "And they seem to be quite strong, whether literally or metaphorically, keeping up that steady pace without sign of fatigue, except perhaps the steam." Tirost nods to you. You say, "So he might be exerting himself to the point of sweat rising in steam, but it doesn't seem to be preventing him from moving forward." Suberri asks, "Maybe the man wasn't a man, but another being posing as a man in a boat?" Klaros nods to Suberri. You nod. Tirost glances at Suberri. You say, "Yes, he could easily represent something else." Suberri says, "Dragons have been known to take on the form of people, it could explain the steam and seemingly not noticing the storm." You say, "Being at sea in a small rowboat would seem to indicate he doesn't represent something or someone with a great deal of prestige, though it could just be the scale of the storm being dealt with." Tylanni studies the faces around him. Klaros asks, "Could the two be related? The man in the boat being metaphorical, and actually represent the moving of Narost without slowing?" You stroke your beard in thoughtful contemplation. Tirost pets his storm-grey cat. Tylanni shifts his weight. You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "The next vision is also a bit unclear, though it's possible it might be related to Traders and their magic." You say, "I found myself sitting at a table, and a figure approached and placed a cube before me. It was wrought in the blackest diacan and kertig, with each visible face displaying an identical array of geometric patterns. The figure bowed and retreated, and the cube clicked loudly as its vertices and patterns started glowing with a soft blue light." You say, "I watched in fascination as several panels clicked aside and folded inward, and the cube swiftly vanished into itself, rearranging into smaller and smaller forms until there was nothing left but the tiniest speck of blue and black. Suddenly, the form jittered sharply and froze, erupting with crystalline fractals that rapidly grew with a crackling hiss. I leaped back as the mass engulfed the table, and then the vision faded." Syeh takes a sip of her water. Jaelia says, "Whynd." Navesi says, "Curious." Aluwyyn raises an eyebrow. You notice Whynd trying to remain hidden while speaking. You hear the weird voice of Whynd ask, "Yes?" Jaelia asks, "We good?" Gwenddolyn says, "That reminds me of the gorbesh spheres." Tirost gazes thoughtfully at you. You say, "I am not sure if the cube was intended to do that, but it does appear to be dangerous." You hear the weird voice of Whynd ask, "Why wouldnt we be?" Syeh takes a sip of her water. Jaelia exclaims, "Just making sure you ok, I like your shadows just making sure that Shard isn't harassing you sorry!" Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. Syeh takes a sip of her water. You say, "Hard to say directly what it means, but the soft blue light and the crystalline fractals might tie into the starlight and crystal magic Traders make use of." You notice Whynd trying to remain hidden while speaking. You hear the weird voice of Whynd say, "No no, is fine." Syeh takes a sip of her water. Gwenddolyn nods. Syeh takes a sip of her water. Suberri nods to you. Gwenddolyn says, "Makes me wonder about the spheres the gorbesh drop, that is what they do." Suberri asks, "Could a device like that be a beacon for something else?" Aluwyyn calmly says, "The fact that it was dropped off and the delivery person left in a hurry speaks to me of an attempt to do harm." Syeh takes a sip of her water. Gwenddolyn nods to Aluwyyn. (Jaelia nods in understanding towards the shadows, biting her lips as if trying to supress a grin.) You say, "Taken literally, it could have been a demonstration of a weapon." Aislynn nods in agreement. Gwenddolyn says, "Interesting." Aluwyyn takes a sip of his wine. Aluwyyn calmly says, "Maybe not focusing on the weapon as that you are the target." You say, "I'm not sure what happened to the table after it was engulfed, since the vision ended at that point." Suberri says, "Does it have to be a weapon? Sometimes when things disappear they are simply moved elsewhere." Aluwyyn gazes at Suberri. Aislynn quietly says, "Well. I know I won't be bidding for any kertig and diacan cubes at Guildfest, at the very least." Aluwyyn chuckles. Vaddon grins at Aislynn. Tirost ponders. Aluwyyn calmly says, "Aww...not birthday presents for Miskton." Aislynn grins at Aluwyyn. Aluwyyn winks at Aislynn. You say, "It's also possible that it's a tool of some sort, if it is warping space in some way. Maybe it engulfs the table and then collapses back to a smaller size and the table could be recovered afterwards." You say, "The shrinking during the initial step would seem to indicate some kind of spatial warping happening, at least." Suberri nods to you. You notice Whynd trying to remain hidden while speaking. You hear the weird voice of Whynd ask, "Kinda like the pocket vault, enshrouding clouds?" Aluwyyn softly says, "Knowledge beyond my ken." Tirost says to you, "It certainly exceeds what is possible for diacan and kertig without magic." You nod to Tirost. Gwenddolyn says, "The Battle Battle Sphere manifests itself as a powerful ball of sorcerous energy before exploding." Echyaes asks, "Do kertig or diacan have any special properties or origins?" Gwenddolyn says, "The Gorbesh battle sphere." You say, "The metals might be for decorative purposes, but best not to rule out any details being important in a vision." Klaros nods at Gwenddolyn, obviously agreeing with her views. Suberri jokingly says, "Maybe that explains the Unknown as well, this is the portal to fill it up and we know how many pack rats there are, so the Unknown will grow and expand rapidly." Elurora asks, "Isn't kertig from the stars?" Aislynn grins at Suberri. Coethi quietly asks, "It might be a metaphor for a new kind of spell being developed?" Gwenddolyn says, "Kertigen." Elurora grabs Gwenddolyn by the shoulders and shakes her! Elurora shakes her head at Gwenddolyn. Elurora blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue. Vaddon chuckles. Gwenddolyn chuckles at Elurora. You say, "Well, kertig comes from comets, but diacan is found in other ores here on Elanthia." Elurora points at you. Elurora grins at Gwenddolyn. Gwenddolyn says, "I was kidding." Gwenddolyn gives Elurora a little prod between the shoulder blades. Tirost says to Coethi, "Possible, or some new device being developed." Navesi says, "Lunar magic does seem to deal with... various forms of mathematics. And kertig is indeed from the heavens." You say, "Both definitely very dark in color, at least." Gwenddolyn says, "Remember the spell also exists called the starlight sphere." You say, "Hopefully it is a tool, rather than a weapon or a threat. And just surprising, rather than meant as an attack." Elurora nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. You say, "The next vision is... strange, but interesting." Jaelia smiles at you. You say, "A dull red light engulfed me, and as my eyes adjusted, I found myself in a metal-walled chamber. Before me sat several individuals with their hands resting on crystalline columns. Their eyes were closed, and they continually tilted their heads as if straining to hear something in the distance." You say, ""Slight left, mind the level," one said softly, and I could feel the chamber turn slightly." Vaddon chuckles. Aislynn leans forward. Zalinyar grins at Vaddon, her dimples flashing into view. You say, ""Inquisitive shoal still in pursuit, maintaining distance," another stated. I took a slight step backwards as I felt myself increasing in speed." Aislynn frowns. You say, ""Raise the splinter. We're too close to the spring, and it's driving us closer," the third remarked. Then, turning to me, the individual continued, "You may want to hold onto something." Elurora gazes thoughtfully at you. Vaddon studies the faces around him. Aislynn clicks her claws together. You say, "The chamber filled with the sound of groaning metal and distant howling, and then the vision faded." Elurora says, "Maybe that's what's coming towards us." Elurora flashes a quick grin at you. Tirost frowns. Tranta nods at Elurora, obviously agreeing with her views. You notice Whynd trying to remain hidden while speaking. You hear the weird voice of Whynd say, "Yeah, its obviously something in motion, a vehicle of some sort." You say, "It does appear to be a strange vessel of some sort." Tirost nods in agreement. Zalinyar winks at Vaddon. Aislynn quietly says, "Mmm. Perhaps it is the place those shoals spill from when the merelew are about." You say, "The terminology would seem to indicate something in the ocean, but some of the terms might be less literal." Echyaes asks, "A shoal is, what, a group of fish?" Vaddon laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement. Aislynn nods to you. You say, "They don't explicitly say it's a shoal of fish, after all." You grin. Tranta smiles at Jaelia. Aislynn nods in agreement. Aislynn ponders. Otherion ponders. You say, "The splinter and the spring are a bit more unusual, as terms." Gwenddolyn says, "I am beginning to think Aislynn was correct, if it is about the Merelew." Tranta curtsies gracefully to Zalinyar. Navesi says, "A shoal is a sandbar. Like an area of shallow water." Zalinyar smiles at Tranta, revealing the dimples in her cheeks. Coethi glances at Aislynn. A soft voice from somewhere near Otherion babbles, "Mee migahooyiboonamimootoo!" Tranta nods to Vaddon. You notice Whynd trying to remain hidden while speaking. You hear the weird voice of Whynd say, "Interrogate the shadowling, he obviously knows something." Aislynn quietly says, "Several individuals, working in tandem, eyes closed, listening to something far off... Reminds me of the Spidersworn." Aislynn shifts her weight. You say, "It's also a term for a large number of fish swimming together in a group." Aislynn clicks her claws together. Tranta giggles at Jaelia. You say, "In context of it being in pursuit, I lean more toward it being fish or... something in some way similar. Though a geographical feature pursuing them is also not out of the realm of possibility, given how strange things can get in visions." Navesi nods to you. Ezerak says, "They did mention a shoal." Ezerak nods. Tranta smiles at Jaelia. You say to Elurora, "The idea that it might be related to the Nascent Unknown approach us is interesting... something does seem to be steering it, after all." Elurora grins at you. Tranta grins at Zalinyar. Tirost says, "It is also interesting that they seemed to control their vessel by means of crystaline columns." Navesi asks, "Oh? What makes you think something is steering it?" Navesi glances up at the sky. Gwenddolyn says, "Crystalline as been in visions too." You say to Navesi, "The patterns it appears to be making in its movement don't seem very natural, forming all those angles." Tirost nods to Gwenddolyn. Aislynn quietly says, "I think we're definitely going to be getting amazing rides to see Harawep's new form deep under water. Is what I think." Aluwyyn calmly asks, "I need some clarity. Did you start us off with a vision of being cast into the oceans of a water world? Then offer up a vision of a being rowing on tumultuous seas showing great strength and determination? And then a vision here with another ocean/sea theme?" Gwenddolyn asks, "Exploding wasn't it?" Aislynn shifts her weight. Navesi knits her eyebrows together in a thoughtful frown. Gwenddolyn says, "It will crash into crossings." Elurora grins at Aluwyyn. You nod to Aluwyyn. Gwenddolyn says, "So not good." Aluwyyn calmly says, "I want to make sure I see a theme here or not." Elurora asks, "Someone or something is trying really hard to get somewhere?" Elurora grins at Aluwyyn. Aluwyyn calmly asks, "Well perhaps help coming to us from somewhere water related?" Gwenddolyn says, "I bet Miskton has another vision he is saving for last." You say, "The groaning metal and distant howling at the end of the vision are also a concern. The groaning might be from the strain of the movements the vessel is being put through... but the howling seemed to be something outside." Tranta fans herself. Aislynn chortles softly at some secret joke. Aislynn clicks her claws together. Gwenddolyn says, "The wolf." Zalinyar gazes at Vaddon. Aislynn quietly exclaims, "The spider!" Zalinyar takes a sip of her rum. Gwenddolyn says, "The cloud around the wolf." Aislynn grins at Gwenddolyn. Aislynn ducks her head. Aluwyyn softly says, "The wind howls." Aluwyyn ponders. Gwenddolyn nods to Aluwyyn. Tirost says, "One of the figures said the shoal was in pursuit." You say, "From context, it's unclear if they were being driven toward the spring by the shoal, or the splinter." Navesi asks, "What kind of spring or splinter might be in the heavens, if we are talking about the Unknown encountering them?" Navesi raises an eyebrow. Aluwyyn smiles at Echyaes. You say, "The splinter seems like it is some part of their vessel, if they can raise it. And the spring... is apparently something it is dangerous to get too close to." Navesi nods to you. You say, "And we're running a little tight on time, so moving on to the last vision, where I think I do have some idea of what it might be related to." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. Zalinyar takes a sip of her rum. Gwenddolyn chuckles. Aluwyyn gazes at you. You say, "My mouth filled with the taste of copper, and a low whine trembled in the distance. It built, a rumble growing louder, a metronomic thump, thump. With a sharp crack, the whine escalated, a wheel spun at impossible speeds, an axle burning, immense heat vaporizing metal, and lightning tore from the horizon, raking upward." You say, "In the deafening silence that followed, I could feel rather than hear a soft thump, thump, thump, as something very large approached. And then, the vision faded." Gwenddolyn says, "That is just vaddon moving through the lost grounds." Aluwyyn furrows his brow. You say, "My mouth filling with the taste of copper when a vision starts is a theme that seems to relate to events around the Plane of Electricity and Zengmodaleth." Aislynn chortles softly at some secret joke. Vaddon grins. Vaddon chuckles. Aislynn nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Gwenddolyn winks at Vaddon. Tranta giggles. Tirost nods to you. You say, "And there was a previous vision, some time back, of the custodians there constructing a very large humanoid figure." You say, "At the time of that previous vision, it was only partially complete... but it has been some time since then." Elurora asks, "Has anyone gone to look and see if they are?" Gwenddolyn says, "So maybe its the humanoid rowing the boat." Vaddon says to Gwenddolyn, "There is stuff everywhere, cant help but bump into it." Syeh shifts her weight. Coethi nods. Gwenddolyn says, "The boat is the vessel." Tirost ominously says to you, "It has." Ghust quietly says, "But if its a boat, maybe its something from below bumping into it." Coethi quietly says, "A few of us went to Zengmodaleth recently. Apparently little has changed..." You turn a page in your astronomer's journal. You say, "For reference, the previous vision..." You say, "My mouth filled with the taste of copper, and I found myself standing in a large open structure. Custodians moved around me rapidly, rushing between complex machinery and organized piles of crackling materials and components. At the center of the area, resting atop a raised platform and covered by large cranes and contraptions, lay a massive mechanical head and torso. Empty eye sockets gazed upward, and a missing lower jaw revealed a forest of pistons and coiling wires along the neck. The torso terminated below the breastbone, and several custodians crawled around the inside of the partial ribcage, welding and adjusting." You say, "Suddenly all the custodians stopped and turned to me, flashing red, green, red, yellow, and began to advance. The vision faded." Tirost glances at Navesi. Elurora nods to Coethi. Navesi glances at Tirost. Tirost softly says, "I'll not soon forget the warning lights of the custodians." Navesi nods in agreement. Aluwyyn glances at Tirost. Ezerak chuckles. Vaddon winks. You say, "I don't know why, exactly, they are building this thing, but it doesn't seem like they need it for large construction projects, since they could already put one together to build it." Elurora slowly asks, "Could they be making it to try and communicate with us?" Aislynn quietly says, "Could be planetary defense against whatever the Unknown is bringing us." Tirost says to you, "It's a worrying vision. Perhaps the wheel, the axel and the lightning represent the means by which they have powered the thing they have created." Ghust quietly asks, "Like some metal automitron thing?" You say to Elurora, "If that was their goal, I think they're probably capable of something a bit simpler to do that." Gwenddolyn says, "They can make the humanoid translate." Gwenddolyn shudders. You nod to Tirost. Navesi says, "My hypothesis is that something has altered the... abilities of the custodians. Their instructions. In order to coerce them to create this thing." Aislynn quietly says, "Hopefully that's not what is being piloted in the previous version, if packs of angry fish are enough to threaten it." Gwenddolyn says, "Or a contract." Gwenddolyn nods to Navesi. Tirost nods to Navesi. Navesi says, "If that is true, then the giant is built for the needs of the one who coerced them." Gwenddolyn says, "To make something for someone." Aislynn nods to Navesi. Ghust quietly asks, "Wait, wouldnt fish be Drogor?" Ayrell quietly says, "My apologies, but I must step away." Ayrell nods politely to you. Tirost bows to Ayrell. You nod politely to Ayrell. Ayrell curtsies gracefully to Tirost. Gwenddolyn says, "Only angry fish." Gwenddolyn chuckles at Ghust. Aislynn grins. Navesi hugs Ayrell, getting a smile in return. Coethi quietly asks, "It could be there to allow something with immense power to use it as a talisman, enabling it to uh... Constitute... itself? In the plane of abiding?" Ghust grins. Ayrell hugs Navesi, who wraps her arms around Ayrell with a warm smile. Elurora says, "I should as well, thank you as always Mister Miskton." Elurora bows to you. Ayrell nods politely. Elurora bows. Jaelia smiles at you. You nod politely to Elurora. Navesi says, "I don't think creating a form that works in our Plane is an issue. The custodians and selreks manifest here just fine." Navesi says, "More likely, it is a weapon." You nod to Navesi. Ezerak nods at Navesi, obviously agreeing with her views. You say, "And... Yes, it's drawing close to the start of the Mountain Guard patrol of the city, so we should wrap things up, I think." Jaelia gazes intently into her sanowret crystal, and scintillating sparks of light dance across its surface. Gwenddolyn says, "Your insight is greatly valued Miskton, we have some things not looking too good." Jaelia grins. Jaelia says, "Thank you as always, Miskton." Ezerak says to you, "Thank you, as always." You say, "Thank you all for coming this evening and sharing your thoughts." Syeh opens her omnibus almanac. Zalinyar smiles at you, revealing the dimples in her cheeks. Gwenddolyn waves. You say, "I'd recommend keeping an eye on the Nascent Unknown, as I know I certainly will be." Syeh closes her omnibus almanac. Tirost says to you, "Thank you, as always, for sharing your visions." You carefully mark your place and close your astronomer's journal, securing the clasp. |
