Mirror Wraith Prophecy/Ending
The Mirror Wraith Prophecy ended in early September 2000 when Tezirah briefly escaped the Plane of Probability through the Taisgath obelisk and subsequently pushed back in. Below are two logs from that event. The first log is from an unknown source while the second is from Pathian's point of view.
First Log
[Taisgath, Grove of the Obelisk]
A translucent obelisk, the small island's namesake, dominates the center of this silent grove. Oddly, no sounds of wildlife penetrate the thick foliage surrounding the small meadow. A slab of reddish-brown stone lies to one side of the obelisk. You also see a misshaped deobar strongbox, a misshaped iron trunk and a lethargic Shadow Servant. Taramaine just arrived.
Taramaine says, "A mirror image. For protection."
Taramaine asks, "We've come far these past nine centuries. We've accomplished so much... and yet, so little. Has it all been for nothing? When did fate snatch us all up and lay out our paths? Where did it all begin, that which conspired to force these events into existence?"
Taramaine says, "Did it begin over a thousand years ago? Did that one sorceress set the wheels of fate into motion? Tezirah..."
Taramaine says, "She found an atrtifact, one begun five hundred years before her time, but one unfinished. She completed the device, and she was determined to use it to cause destruction throughout the Empire. What's more, she practiced the foulest arts, the corrupt sorcery."
Taramaine says, "And so, they went to kill her. They went to her manor, the Imperials. They tore it apart to find her. They found in there a path underground, and they took it."
Taramaine says, "There they discovered the sorceress. And there they discovered a massive slab of stone... shimmering, pulsing -- surely, they thought, this must be some instrument of her dark magic."
Taramaine says, "Fools. The obelisk predated even Tezirah, and was almost as much a mystery to her as to them."
Taramaine says, "Nevertheless, it was upon that obelisk that the Imperial solderis hung Tezirah."
Taramaine says, "Or tried to, anyway. The instant before she died, she did... something. She tried to escape them, and failed. And thus began the reports of bat-winged skulls, and their connection to Tezirah."
Taramaine says, "But her failed spell summoned a dreadful beast, who proceeded to slaughter most of the soldiers. The shadowmaster. The Imperials fought it, losing many... but managed to kill the beast. Mostly."
Taramaine asks, "They burned Tezirah's Manor, they shattered the device, and they collapsed the ground. And they thought that was the end of it. Who would have imagined the uninhabited wilderness where Tezirah made her hideout would later become the site of the deciding battles of the Resistance War... and that a major city would be built there?"
Taramaine asks, "Hmmm. Did it begin eighty years ago? When we retrieved the legendary Arte of the Black Cockatrice, and used it to create the Y'Shai?"
Taramaine says, "Or ten years later when we stumbled upon Tezirah's ruined mansion... Mortom, Erzebet, Demosel, Grell... and me. We assembled the device, foolishly enough. And lo, two shadowmasters appeared before us. So many died by its wicked claws..."
The mirror images pull away from Taramaine and fade.
Taramaine says, "It killed excavators, students, researchers... two Council Members died. So much death... we had to stop it."
Taramaine says, "It was then that I utilized that which I had never before used... Erzebet and Mortom joined in with me, adding their power as well. We had to stop the killings, stop the beasts..."
Taramaine says, "And so we used sorcery to slay them. It was the only option left to us. If we failed, the shadowmasters and their spawn would decend upon the unsuspecting Crossing. Countless would die."
Taramaine sighs.
Taramaine says, "I regret that, now."
Taramaine shakes his head.
Taramaine says, "Demosel refused to help, in that... And the mercenary Grell was wounded by a shard of the exploding obelisk... the obelisk we inadvertently destroyed with the magics we had never before used. And Shanrolias... stepped in the way of the spell."
Taramaine says, "The first Y'Shai to die... We discovered their secret then... horrendous. We left the body there, we left the manor... by the gods, we hoped none would ever set foot in there again."
Taramaine says, "Ah, but people did..."
Taramaine sighs.
Taramaine says, "It was a foolish hope. All along, it was fate for those devices to be reassembled. And when we split them up again, certain it was the end of the artifact... destiny would see to it that events brought them together again."
Taramaine says, "And now you know it all."
Taramaine says, "Since the death of the Council, I have been plagued by visions of a nightmare world... our world, overrun by shadowmasters and the creatures of darkness. Tenebraelings, voidspawn, eviscerators... the mortal races fleeing in terror before death incarnate."
Taramaine says, "This world will come to pass if that artifact is destroyed. I've learned that, now. That was its purpose."
Taramaine says, "The only way to ensure that this never comes to pass... we must make the ultimate sacrifice."
Taramaine says, "In order to prevent our world from being consumed by darkness, we must give up our gift of foresight."
Taramaine says, "I am sorry. I have devoted my life to the Moon Mage Guild, but that it should come down to this... Gods. But there is no choice... no choice. This world's fate hangs in the balance. The Mirror Wraith has shown me what must be done, to save both Planes from destruction."
Taramaine says, "May the gods look over us all, my friends."
Taramaine inhales a great swallow of air.
Taramaine rubs a crystal-capped sphere.
Taramaine drops a slagged sphere.
Taramaine says, "It is done."
The obelisk begins vibrating.

Taramaine says, "Face our future."
Pathian shimmers into view.
Treleon shimmers into view.
Khaman shimmers into view.
Fornary shimmers into view.
Taramaine picks up a slagged sphere.
Taramaine rubs a slagged sphere, then pulls his hand away.
The ground shudders violently as the translucent obelisk glows with a brilliant light!
With a tremendous roar, a shimmering vortex forms, throwing off tendrils of light and shadow.
You are knocked flat!
Rikkisha exclaims, "Taramaine stop! This isn't right!"
Several vaguely humanoid shadows come out of a shimmering vortex, then dissipate.
Taramaine says, "No..."
Taramaine says, "Gods..."
In a flaring of sparks and shadow, a crimson and onyx moonstaff appears in his hand.
Stavro moves over to guard Taramaine.
You hear some loud thumpings coming from somewhere nearby.
Taramaine says, "This isn't supposed to be happening..."
Taramaine asks, "What is this?"
The shimmering vortex crackles and flares, pulsing with quick bursts of blinding light!
Mahwel blinks and winces, stunned!
Vien blinks and winces, stunned!
Ileia blinks and winces, stunned!
Elomat blinks and winces, stunned!
A voice from the other side of the vortex says, "You are a fool, Taramaine. A fool and a pawn, as much as Lasarhhtha was."
Taramaine shakes his head.
A voice from the other side of the vortex says, "It was I who visited all of you so many years ago as a Mirror Wraith. And it was I who visited Lasarhhtha as well."
Taramaine says, "No..."
A voice from the other side of the vortex says, "And, all glorious Grandmaster... It was I who visited you, and played you for the fool that you are... I guided you all to this final climatic moment..."
The shimmering vortex shudders and whines, then hisses angrily.
Tezirah steps casually out of the shimmering vortex, a callous smirk upon her face.
Tezirah says, "My release..."
Tezirah throws her head back and laughs maniacally!
Taramaine exclaims, "NO!"
Taramaine raises him arms skyward, chanting.
Tezirah says, "Now, Taramaine... You're reward for being such a wonderful puppet...."
The ground trembles for a moment as a shimmering vortex spirals about, howling.
Taramaine gestures. Taramaine's spell misfires as it bounces off of Tezirah in a spectacular explosion of blue sparks!
The rebound strikes Taramaine, stunning him!
Tezirah throws her head back and laughs maniacally!
Stavro begins to advance towards Tezirah.
You see Tezirah Eilsina, a Human.
She has jade eyes, very long fine blue-black hair that is unkempt, and pale skin.
She is in her prime for a Human.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing some tattered red robes lined along the interior with midnight black silk, some skull-shaped hair beads, a polished brass earring inset with onyx and jade chips, a pair of translucent crystalline earrings streaked with crimson veins and some black velvet slippers spotted by smoke-colored stains.
Tezirah raises her arms skyward, chanting dark words of power!
Stavro closes to pole weapon range on Tezirah.
Tezirah throws her head back and laughs maniacally!
Kreich's cambrinth armor emits a loud *snap*.

Kreich gestures. Kreich's spell misfires as it bounces off of Tezirah in a spectacular explosion of blue sparks!
The rebound strikes Kreich, stunning him!
Several flares of light spin from a shimmering vortex, then shadows pour forth like water.
Stavro slices a crimson and onyx moonstaff at Tezirah. Tezirah steps aside with the grace of a cat.
Stavro's voice echoes hollowly as he says, "attack her."
A shimmering vortex roars as it throws a powerful wave of shadow in all directions!

Taramaine exclaims, "Stop her!"

>Kreich starts to move toward Tezirah, then hesitates.

Tezirah gestures. With a glare, a blazing red light sparkles in her eyes! Ieshan's left leg suddenly ruptures in a spray of blood as bones erupt from under his skin! Ieshan screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled left leg!
>The earth around Stavro's body seems to awaken, opening up and curling around him, pulling the lifeless form downward, covering him until nothing is left except a memory of his corpse.
- A meteor streaks across the sky but Stavro's soul is forsaken from walking the Starry Road, lost forever.
>Tezirah raises her arms skyward, chanting dark words of power!
Tezirah gestures. With a glare, a blazing red light sparkles in her eyes! Vivviane's left arm suddenly ruptures in a spray of blood as bones erupt from under her skin!
>Ieshan works carefully at tending his wounded left leg.

>The air shimmers for a moment as Malcontente's spell ends and he becomes visible once more.
A barbed bolt jumps into the air and rips toward Tezirah!

Pathian lets out a loud "Huzzah!"
>You hear the ghostly voice of Tezirah say, "Nicely done, mortal."
>Tezirah's splintered skeleton rises up, reassembling as it rips free of her corpse. The scattered flesh follows, leaping into place. Finally, her skin and clothes crawl back upon the musculature, and it is then you find yourself gazing at a fully alive -- and quite angry -- Tezirah.
>Plaith exclaims, "Gods!"
Tezirah says, "But pointless."
>Ieshan says, "Oh, not good."
>Boneheal says, "NOOOO"
>Delvocore exclaims, "she got up!"
>Taramaine gestures. Tezirah is flung into the air! What goes up must come down, and so Tezirah crashes back down with a thump!
>Kirvar slices an opal-inlaid hanger at Tezirah. Tezirah steps aside with the grace of a cat.
>Vivviane falls over.
Thousands of shadowy moths flutter into being, swirling around Tezirah before fading into nothingness.
Tezirah suddenly looks healthier.
>Tezirah stands up. You hear someone chanting.
>Chuu gestures at Tezirah. A misshaped iron trunk lifts off the ground and hurtles toward Tezirah! Tezirah dodges out of the way!
Tezirah raises her arms skyward, chanting dark words of power!
Tezirah gestures. With a glare, a blazing red light sparkles in her eyes! Malcontente's right leg suddenly ruptures in a spray of blood as bones erupt from under his skin! Malcontente screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled right leg!

She has a broken left arm with gaping holes, a severely swollen and deeply bruised left leg compounded by cuts and bruises about the left leg, minor swelling and bruising in the chest area.
She is bleeding with slight bruising in the left leg and moderately from the left arm.
She is wearing some tattered red robes lined along the interior with midnight black silk, some skull-shaped hair beads, a polished brass earring inset with onyx and jade chips, a pair of translucent crystalline earrings streaked with crimson veins and some black velvet slippers spotted by smoke-colored stains.

Taramaine screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled left leg!

Chuu closes to melee range on Tezirah.
>You become visible again. You fire a slender tip arrow at Tezirah! The arrow suddenly stops in midair as if it struck something and falls to the ground.

Tezirah gestures. With a glare, a blazing red light sparkles in her eyes! Kirvar's right arm suddenly ruptures in a spray of blood as bones erupt from under his skin! Kirvar's opal-inlaid hanger falls to the ground.
Mister Grell just arrived.
>Tezirah exclaims, "I have spent a thousand years in the Plane of Probability!"
>Psychi says, "I know"
>Tezirah asks, "I have fought shadowmasters daily, and you think you can stop me now!?"
>The entire area suddenly darkens as deep shadow spills out of a shimmering vortex.
>Tezirah throws her head back and laughs maniacally!
>Kurlay closes to melee range on Tezirah.
>Taramaine gestures.
>Kurlay shoves Tezirah weakly, knocking her a single step back towards the vortex!
>Taramaine stands up.
Tezirah says, "What they..."

>Psychi just hugged Demosel.
Demosel coughs.
>Kreich glances at Demosel.
>Tezirah raises her arms skyward, chanting dark words of power!

>Kreich glances about, his impassive armored mask disguising his emotion.
Demosel says, "Oh gods..."
>Kurlay shoves Tezirah strongly, forcing her flailing backward and down!
>Tezirah looks at Kurlay and begins to scream!

>The air shimmers for a moment as Khaman's spell ends and he becomes visible once more. A crossbow bolt jumps into the air and rips toward Tezirah! The bolt strikes Tezirah in the right arm!

>Tezirah says, "Now I grow angry..."
>Tezirah narrows her eyes.
>Mahwel begins to advance towards Tezirah.
>Mahwel grows fierce looking and appears ready to brawl!
Demosel exclaims, "You cannot defeat her by killing her!"
>Kurlay shoves Tezirah strongly, forcing her flailing backward and down towards the vortex!
>Tezirah raises her arms skyward, chanting dark words of power!
Tezirah gestures. With a glare, a blazing red light sparkles in her eyes! Maxlade's left leg suddenly ruptures in a spray of blood as bones erupt from under his skin! Maxlade screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled left leg!
Rhidian offers Taramaine a yelith root.

>Kurlay shoves Tezirah well, making her take several steps back towards the vortex!
>Demosel exclaims, "Push her through the gate!"
>Tezirah exclaims, "Fools!"
A shimmering vortex roars as it throws a powerful wave of shadow in all directions!
>Tezirah says, "You will NOT stop me.."
Demosel says, "The vortex will close..."

>Skrowl suddenly appears! Skrowl fires a barbed arrow at Tezirah from his forester's bow! The arrow suddenly stops in midair as if it struck something and falls to the ground.
Tezirah exclaims, "Fools, stop this insanity! Herald me as your queen!"
>Kurlay shoves Tezirah strongly, forcing her flailing backward and down!
>Demosel rises to a kneeling position.
>Mahwel rolls Tezirah solidly, sliding her across the ground towards the vortex!
>Demosel coughs.
Tezirah exclaims, "I am nearly a goddess!"

Taramaine begins to advance towards Tezirah.

Elomat gestures at Taramaine. A barbed bolt lifts off the ground and hurtles toward Taramaine! Taramaine dodges out of the way!

A dull grey light illuminates the featureless terrain, forever presented by a drab, neverending sunset that is devoid of bright shades of color. Where the sky and ground meet, haze swirls, obscuring that boundary, its definition apparently only from that pale sun. Above, streaks of oddly-formed clouds run to the horizon, carried by potent and invisible winds, and all around a deadening silence muffles this place's every unidentifiable sound into a soft whisper.
