The zuceira is a form of membranophonic drum that is made by filling the a sealed drum chamber with water through a small hole, then slapping ones hands over the membranic skin that has been stretched over the barrel of the instrument. The level of water within the chamber creates a tonal sound that resonates throughout the instrument. Traditional zuceira are made of clay, wood, bone or coral but can be made of any suitable material. Zuceira are prized by the Merelew.
