burnished silver flute highlighted by a rich patina
Look: This instrument is aged with a near black veneer around the crevices of the embouchure and keys while the right hand index and ring keys in particular show dulled silver of many years of use. Oxidation has settled around the embouchure, giving it a darker look against the burnished silver of the instrument's body, but allowing tiny lettering etched just under the lip plate itself to still be legible.

There appears to be something written on it.

Siryn's Flute

This flute was the daily companion of Siryn Mistbringer, one of the brave souls who re-established the Bard guild in modern times. The flute is obviously well-used but is still a fine instrument, as well as an elemental focus. Bards speculate about what memories it might hold.

Recall

The silver flute is a slender wind instrument commonly crafted from a variety of materials. Formed from a straight tube easily as long as a grown Halfling's arm, the flute has a small blow hole at its capped end and an array of smaller finger holes gracing its other end. A simplistic network of four keys covers the two holes closest to the open end, allowing the player more control than would be available with the flute's more rustic cousin, the fife.

Evoke

Your vision goes black.

You momentarily feel panic, lost in this bleakness until two wrinkled hands appear out of the blackness, cradling a polished silver flute. Young hands reach up and the instrument passes hands. You see a glimpse of the child, a dark skinned Elven girl with silver eyes. Her face is lit up in joy as she receives the instrument reverently.

The vision changes, and flashes of the girl's life appear before you. You see her growing older, the flute always at her side. You see her apprenticeship to the Bard's Guild, and her rise in its ranks. Though she plays other instruments, the silver flute is always there.

Again, there is darkness but the light shifts suddenly and you see the silver flute, alone in a room and this strikes you as odd as the woman always carries it with her. A feeling of unnamed panic grips your bowels.

Your vision changes and you see the woman standing outside a small boarded up building surrounded by a small crowd. A dark cloud blows into the area, and a tall S'Kra Mur steps out.

Your surroundings change in a blur of sound and emotion. You feel vaguely ill, the gut wrenching feeling you felt before returning stronger than before, and can hear the woman screaming amidst a background of a cacophony of voices singing all manner of songs. Mercifully, blackness overcomes you.

When your sight returns you can see the woman's body lying motionless in the crowd, her hand still clutching a cutlass. Oddly, you feel the flute itself react to her death, sending out waves of despair and pain that wash over you like a rising tide.

The vision ends and you find yourself back in the here and now.
