- Post by Armifer about the spell:
An explorer found a monument to Tenemlor that had a revealing spell pattern on it. Strictly speaking, it could've been called Maelshyve's Waffles without influencing the end-result of the magical pattern. But that's a bit pedantic and extreme. It's difficult bordering on incoherently stupid for the Clerics to deny that there are Prydaen gods at this point. The question is what they represent and what to do about them.
The Temple's most generally accepted approach is that the western gods are not separate gods at all, but simply a different covenant and cultural understanding of the Immortals. They worship a few Immortals with errant knowledge but good faith, so the Immortals humor them. The Prydaen are, understandably, not very amused by this.
The Prydaen orthodox stance is that the Prydaen gods are real, independent divinities that exist separately but of equal stature and power as the Immortals. The worshipers of the Immortals simply have their heads stuck in the sand regarding a wide variety of different gods that walk Elanthia and have a legitimate stake in the Starry Road. The Temple, understandably, is not very amused at this.
