Introduction
Lady of Elamiri Ayrell came through a thick dark curtain.
(Ayrell appears from the shadows that conceal the stage wings, each smooth, balletic step moving her toward a single spotlight that shines down upon the center. Graceful in her movements, she takes up her place within the light's focus, her gaze filled with warmth as she smiles out at the audience, her slender hands moving to clasp delicately in front of her.)

Graceful in her movements, she takes up her place within the light's focus, her gaze filled with warmth as she smiles out at the audience, her slender hands moving to clasp delicately in front of her.)
Ayrell says, "Good evening, and welcome to the Shoan a Sidelkuloa. We are pleased to have you here with us again and hope you will all enjoy the performance we have in store."
Ayrell says, "Tonight, we celebrate the glory of the seasons and all the wonderful things that come with them. For some, that might be snow, or warm drinks by the fire while others might prefer the heat of a summer sun with a cool glass of lemonade in hand. Whichever is your favorite, we intend to celebrate them all while sharing with you a heartwarming story we like to call - A Celebration of the Seasons."
Ayrell curtsies gracefully.
(Ayrell offers the audience a benevolent smile before turning to make her way off stage, retreating out of the spotlight, though it remains in place behind her.)
Act One
Winter
(Siendra steps out onto the stage, her soft movements reminiscent of snow dancing upon a drift. Her gaze sweeps over the gathered crowd and she smiles out at everyone shyly. As she reaches the spotlight she pirouettes slowly, letting her dress glisten like a sliver of ice in the moonlight. She stops facing the audience, the fabric still swaying hypnotically.)
Siendra recites:
"There are many who turn their face from the cold Bundling up in their warm woolen wear, But though ice may bite and the wind - it does howl! There's much more to the season, I swear."
Siendra recites:
"Bare branches encased in a prism of ice Glittering in soft morning light, While a vastness of snow lies pure and poetic Quieting all, hiding all, from sight."
Siendra recites:
"People draw nearer, sharing warmth and delight, As they walk through this white wonderland. To return to a fire that crackles with cheer And blankets, and cocoa - it's grand!"
Siendra recites:
"It's the season of giving to those that you love Gifts with colorful ribbons and bows. The smile on faces to brighten your day As these memories in time are froze."
Siendra recites:
"So fear not the cold and embrace the sharp thrill Of the wintry season each year. Its beauty is endless, and if that's not enough? Think of all those you care for drawn near."
(Siendra bobs a quick curtsy, her head bowing graciously. Straightening, she glances behind her at the curtain before moving to exit, the gentle sparkle of her gown marking her every step across the stage until she disappears from sight.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The curtain rises from behind Siendra as she exits to reveal a set designed to resemble a frozen pond in the height of winter. Several figures glide around the ice on skates while children along one of the banks work to build snowmen and snow angels. On the other bank, a handful of boys and girls appear to be in the midst of a snowball fight, the faint glisten of snowflakes fluttering down from above to create a picture-perfect image of the season."
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The light brightens to focus on two men along one of the pond's banks, one standing, one seated, conversing and laughing over a joke shared between them yet unheard by the audience."
Ezerak takes a seat.
(Ezerak bends his knee to draw his foot closer to his hands where he is seated on the ground, grabbing hold of the laces on his skate to pull them tighter, working carefully to tie them into a precise bow.)
Ezerak says, "I have been waiting to do this again since last winter."
Senthic jovially says, "Got you hooked, hmm? I knew if I ever got you out here to try it, you would love it."
Ezerak says, "I can't really explain it. The freedom you feel when just... gliding over the ice."
(Ezerak closes his eyes, inhaling a deep breath of winter air before releasing it again with a contented smile.)
Ezerak says, "It's perfect."
Senthic just nudged Ezerak.
Ezerak stands up.
Ezerak glances at Senthic.
(Senthic points to where another stage light rises to focus on a young woman already skating on the pond.)
Senthic gazes at Ayrell.
Senthic quietly says, "Talk about perfect."
Ezerak rolls his eyes.
Ezerak says, "Not this again. You know I'm not interested in..."
Ezerak blinks.
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell.
Ezerak quietly says, "Oh..."
(Ezerak watches the girl skate for several moments, his mouth hanging slightly agape in awe. Eventually, he catches himself, snapping his jaw shut and shaking his head to gather his wits.)
Ezerak says, "Come on, Emre. There's no sense in us standing here, admiring a girl like that. She's too beautiful for either of us to hope for."
Senthic laughs!
Senthic says, "Speak for yourself."
Ezerak chuckles.
Ezerak says, "Let s go."
(Ezerak grabs Emre's arm and drags him off toward the pond as the light dims on them slightly, shifting focus to the young girl.)
(Ayrell skates smoothly around the pond, her arms outstretched, face uplifted to the sky, letting the snowflakes fall on her cheeks. A burst of laughter draws her attention to two girls on the bank, a smile curling her lips at the sight of her friends there, joyfully flinging snowballs at one another.)
Siendra waves to Ayrell.
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell waves to Siendra.
(Ayrell's eyes open wide, pointing toward the other girl moving toward the first.)
Ayrell laughingly exclaims, "Amica, look out!"
Siendra glances at Shaylynne.
(Siendra tries to duck but is too late, taking a snowball directly to the face as the three girls laugh.)
(Ayrell continues her way around the pond to complete a few more laps, enjoying the feel of the brisk breeze upon her face. Looking around, she takes note of how many people are now on the ice, carefully maneuvering her way around them with practiced ease to make her way near her friends once again.)
Shaylynne exclaims, "Nayeli!"
Ayrell glances at Shaylynne.
Ayrell exclaims, "Raya, no!"
(Shaylynne winds up and lets another snowball fly out onto the pond, the impact catching Nayeli off guard to send her sliding sideways, off balance, and directly into the path of Raithean.)
(Ayrell tries to stop herself from falling, crying out from the force of her body slamming into that of a man who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, the two of them colliding with a thud in a whirlwind of flailing arms and legs that fail to stop them from toppling into a heap on the ice.)
(Ezerak quickly works to right himself, reaching for Nayeli to help her sit up, looking her over with concern, though his eyes remain focused on her arms and legs, too worried about injury to notice Nayeli's face.)
Ezerak worriedly says, "Are you alright? Are you hurt? Gods, I'm so sorry."
Ayrell shakes her head.
Ayrell shakily says, "I... I am fine. It was my fault, really. I should be the one apologizing to you."
(Ayrell keeps her eyes averted, too embarrassed to look at Raithean as he helps her to her feet, both of them nervously brushing flecks of snow off her coat.)
Ayrell nervously asks, "Are you alright, sir?"
(Ezerak lifts his eyes, seeing Nayeli's face for the first time in stunned realization of who she is.)
Ezerak blinks.
(Ezerak takes in the sight of Nayeli, his mouth once again dangling open, speechless.)
Ayrell gazes at Ezerak.
(Ayrell raises her hand to cover her lips as she emits a soft gasp at the sight of Raithean.)
Ezerak says, "I..."
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell.
Ayrell shakes her head.
Ayrell says, "You look... shaken. We should... get help."
Ezerak chuckles.
Ezerak says, "No. No, I... I'm fine. I'm not... I'm not hurt."
Ezerak casually observes the area.
Ezerak asks, "What is your name?"
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ayrell asks, "Nayeli. And yours?"
Ezerak asks, "Raithean," he looks around again, nervously adjusting the buttons on his coat. "Do you... come here often?"
Ayrell smiles demurely.
Ayrell says, "My parents used to bring me to this pond every winter, when I was a little girl. I consider it a tradition, even now that I have grown."
(Senthic rushes to reach Raithean's side just as Amica and Raya arrive to surround Nayeli, their expressions filled with concern.)
Senthic worriedly asks, "Are you alright?"
Ezerak dreamily says, "I'm... I'm better than ever."
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Shaylynne says, "I'm so sorry, Nayeli."
Ayrell smiles at Shaylynne.
Ayrell says, "It is... quite alright."
Ayrell glances at Ezerak.
Siendra says, "We should get you home to rest, just in case."
(Siendra gently takes Nayeli's arm as Raya takes the other, both of them starting to lead Nayeli off the ice.)
(Ezerak rushes forward, arm outstretched to stop the girls.)
Ezerak exclaims, "Nayeli, wait!"
(Ayrell turns back to look at Raithean with a shy smile.)
Ayrell asks, "Yes?"
Ezerak fidgets nervously.
Ezerak nervously asks, "Would you... like to meet up for a cup of hot chocolate sometime?"
Ayrell smiles at Raithean, her eyes sparkling with nervous delight.
Ayrell softly says, "I would... like that. Very much."
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell.
Ayrell gazes at Ezerak.
(Shaylynne glances between Raithean and Nayeli.)
Shaylynne quietly says, "We should go."
(Shaylynne gently tugs on Nayeli's arm to break her gaze with Raithean's, the three girls quickly skating off the ice and off the stage.)
(Ezerak remains on the pond, staring in the direction Nayeli disappeared.)
Senthic gazes at Ezerak with a sympathetic look on his face.
Senthic says, "She's gone, Raithean. Time to go."
(Ezerak nods to Emre, giving one last wistful look over his shoulder before allowing his friend to lead him away.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The lights on the scene fade out as the curtain lowers once again, concealing the set behind it while a single spotlight returns to focus on the center stage."
Act Two
Spring
(Ayrell moves with silent grace to emerge from the shadows once again, her delicate strides carrying her toward the spotlight in a swirl of glittering sapphires and silk. Taking her place within the prominent glow, she lifts her chin, offering a gracious smile as she looks out over the crowd.)
Ayrell says, "An ode to Spring."
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell recites:
"When spring first brings its welcome warmth, To chase winter's chill away, The sky turns blue with clouds of white To replace dreary shades of grey."
Ayrell recites:
"From atop the trees, a songbird sings A sweet melody floating on air, Flowers in bloom, the grass so green, Such beauty - beyond compare."
Ayrell recites:
"Picnics at noon with walks in the park Beneath a canopy of leaves. Shedding our jackets to bask in the sun, Without need of our longer sleeves."
Ayrell recites:
"Hot chocolate forgone for lemonade, Stunning sunsets as the day does wane. The gentle roll of thunder from a springtime storm, Soft rain against the windowpane."
Ayrell recites:
"So much can be said for the season of life That sets it apart from the rest. A world reawakened to begin anew, One might even conclude it the best."
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell curtsies gracefully.
(Ayrell silently makes her way off stage as the curtain begins a slow ascent behind her.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"As the curtain completes its climb, the lights gradually fade in to reveal a perfectly manicured park, the grass a lush green, with several flowers blooming to add color to the landscape. Scattered couples and families have laid out blankets and food, enjoying the fresh air and warm spring sun."
Ezerak says, "As much as I love the winter, I am always grateful when spring comes 'round again."
Senthic nods at Ezerak, obviously agreeing with his views.
Senthic says, "I like not having to weigh myself down under layers of bulky clothes."
Ezerak chuckles.
(Senthic casually observes the area as they make their way along the walkway, his gaze trailing to where a spotlight raises to illuminate Nayeli, Amica, and Raya where they are seated on a blanket at the other end of the park, talking amongst themselves, oblivious to Raithean and Emre's presence.)
Senthic just nudged Ezerak.
Senthic asks, "Isn't that the girl from the pond?"
(Ezerak's head lifts, eyes alight, instantly turning to follow Emre's gaze.)
Ezerak smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak says, "It is."
Senthic glances at Ezerak.
Senthic asks, "Did she ever take you up on that offer for a hot chocolate?"
(Ezerak gazes dreamily in Nayeli's direction.)
Ezerak distractedly says, "A few times, actually. Turns out, we have quite a lot in common."
Senthic glances at Ayrell.
Senthic asks, "Should we go over and say hello?"
Ezerak glances at Senthic.
Ezerak asks, "You wouldn't mind?"
Senthic chuckles.
Senthic asks, "Who am I to stand in the way of those stars in your eyes?"
Senthic grins at Ezerak.
(Ezerak does his best to hide the smile that tugs at both sides of his lips, his feet nearly skipping at Emre's side as they begin to make their way along the path.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The light fades ever-so-slightly over Raithean and Emre while rising to bring Nayeli and her friends into focus, the sound of their soft laughter growing more distinct with the shift."
Ayrell asks Shaylynne, "Is that the new dress you were telling us about?"
Shaylynne smiles brightly, sitting up straight to gently brush at the fabric of her gown.
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell says, "It is beautiful on you. The color really brings out your eyes."
Siendra asks Ayrell, "Speaking of eyes, yours have been rather starry lately. Have you still been seeing that boy from the pond? Raithean, was it?"
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ayrell bashfully says, "I have. And... and yes, that is his name."
Siendra glances at Shaylynne.
Shaylynne glances at Siendra.
Ayrell peers quizzically at Shaylynne.
Ayrell peers quizzically at Siendra.
Ayrell curiously asks, "What?"
Shaylynne grins.
Shaylynne says, "Oh. Nothing..."
Siendra chuckles.
Siendra says, "We're just intrigued by the blush in your cheeks when you speak of him."
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ayrell bashfully says, "He is... sweet. I find I enjoy his company very much."
(Shaylynne glances toward the pathway where Raithean and Emre approach, her head inclining toward the men with a gentle nudge to Amica's arm.)
Shaylynne says, "Funny you should say that. Because... here he comes."
Ayrell blinks.
Ayrell glances at Ezerak.
Ayrell gasps!
Ayrell covers her mouth with her hand.
Ezerak smiles broadly as he approaches, presenting himself with a gallant bow to the ladies.
Ezerak asks, "Good afternoon. A fine day for a picnic, is it not?"
Siendra smiles at Ezerak.
Siendra says, "Quite so."
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak bows ceremoniously to Ayrell, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
Ezerak just took the hand of Ayrell and gently kissed the back of it.
Ezerak says to Ayrell, "It is an honor to see you again."
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell says to Ezerak, "It is an honor to see you as well."
(Siendra nudges Raya gently, idly reaching to retrieve a kite from the blanket beside her.)
Siendra asks Senthic, "Raya and I were just about to go see if we could get this thing in the air. Would you mind helping us?"
Senthic glances at Ezerak.
Senthic glances at Ayrell.
Senthic grins.
Senthic nods to Siendra.
Senthic says to Siendra, "It would be my pleasure."
(Senthic holds out his hand toward Amica to help her to her feet, doing the same for Raya as they all make their way several steps from the blanket to leave Raithean and Nayeli alone.)
(Ezerak watches the others walk away, nervously raking his fingers through his hair before turning back to Nayeli with a smile, motioning with his hand toward the blanket.)
Ezerak asks Ayrell, "May I join you?"
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ayrell says, "Of course."
(Ayrell gestures to the blanket beside her, idly tucking a stray curl behind her ear.)
(Ezerak settles himself beside Nayeli, both of them fidgeting nervously, averting their eyes and remaining silent for several moments.)
Ezerak hesitantly says to Ayrell, "I... missed you."
Ayrell looks at Ezerak and blushes.
Ayrell nervously asks, "You missed me?"
Ezerak nods.
Ezerak says, "I did."
Ayrell smiles nervously at Raithean.
Ayrell bashfully says, "I... missed you, too."
Ezerak gazes hopefully at Ayrell.
Ezerak smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak says, "I'm not sure I should be so happy to hear that."
Ezerak chuckles to himself.
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell playfully asks Ezerak, "You are not sure if you should be happy to hear I missed you?"
Ezerak chuckles.
Ezerak says, "I don't know. It's just..." he pauses, looking away nervously. "I find I like being near you."
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell says to Ezerak, "I find I like being near you, too."
(Ayrell reaches out and gently takes Raithean's hand in hers.)
(Ezerak gazes down at their joined hands, silent for a moment before finally lifting his eyes to meet Nayeli's again.)
Ezerak nervously asks Ayrell, "I was thinking... maybe we could be near each other more often?"
Ayrell nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Ayrell gazes at Ezerak.
Ayrell asks, "How much more often?"
(Ezerak glances nervously out at their friends who continue their efforts with the kite, a smile tugging at the edges of his lips as he shifts his gaze back to Nayeli.)
Ezerak says to Ayrell, "As often as you will allow."
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell asks Ezerak, "Do you mean...?"
Ezerak smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak nods.
Ezerak says to Ayrell, "Yes. I do."
(Ayrell scoots a little closer to Raithean.)
Ayrell bashfully says to Ezerak, "I am... not doing anything tomorrow, if you... wanted to join me for a walk in one of the city gardens."
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak says to Ayrell, "I would like nothing more."
Ayrell gazes fondly at Ezerak.
Ezerak gazes fondly at Ayrell.
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell asks Ezerak, "Would you and your friend care to join us for our picnic?"
Ezerak smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak says, "We would love to."
(Ezerak holds Nayeli's gaze for a long moment, seeming not to want to look away before finally managing to do so, lifting his free hand to beckon the others back to the blanket.)
(Senthic lifts his chin slightly in acknowledgement of the summons, waving Amica and Raya to walk with him toward Raithean and Nayeli as the lights begin to dim and the curtains descend once again.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"As the curtains settle into place, a lone spotlight appears to reclaim its prominence on the center stage."
Act Three
Summer
(Senthic strides out on stage in a determined fashion, his mischievous grin firmly in place as he reaches the center of the stage and looks out to the audience, and then just stands, clearly reveling in the anticipation.)
Senthic boldly exclaims, "Summer!"
Senthic recites:
"When the cooler wisp of Spring fades, a much bolder season takes its place Summer arrives with no pause for reflection, but rushes in with haste Trees and green grass reach for the sweltering sun, drinking in the heat Spring's first blush of love begins to burn bright, passion melting away the sweet."
Senthic recites:
"The simmering fever of summer days, broken only by lazy dips in cool water Slides into an enchanting twilight, forcing the sun's fiery grip to falter And as night begins to fall, a heady, bright magic rises in the air Igniting a sense of wonder as the breeze whispers a dare."
Senthic recites:
"Insects chirp and sing of promise as they emerge to briefly light a path Tantalizingly just out of reach, they dance and taunt in the day's aftermath. The stars wink with unspoken secrets, the air is densely weighted with anticipation Thunder rumbles in the distance, bringing the sultry smell of ozone and a swell of invigoration."
Senthic recites:
"For comfort and a calming presence, it is said that Autumn reigns For cozy nights spent with loved ones, it is known that's Winter's lane For fresh beginnings and gentle sweetness, it is claimed that Spring is supreme But for spice and adventure, bold decisions and bright inspiration - look for Summer's steam."
(Senthic bows exaggeratedly as he quickly walks backward to exit Stage Left.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The curtains begin a slow ascent to the ceiling, revealing the pond from before, though bathed in the light of what has been designed to resemble a sky of twinkling stars, the ice long melted to let the surface ripple with a faint summer breeze. The distant sound of jovial voices and laughter fills the air from a crowd of people gathered around a celebratory bonfire, the figures of Nayeli and Raithean set just slightly apart and in front of the others."
(Ayrell takes a delicate lick of the ice cream stacked high upon a cone in her hand. When she draws back, she gives Raithean a fond smile, oblivious to the spot of ice cream that lingers on the tip of her nose.)
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak leans forward.
Ezerak kisses Ayrell on the nose.
Ayrell blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Ezerak teasingly says to Ayrell, "You had a little something there."
Ayrell laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
Ayrell fondly asks Ezerak, "Whatever would I do without you?"
Ezerak says, "Walk around with ice cream on your nose, it seems."
Ezerak grins at Ayrell, his dimples flashing into view.
Ayrell smiles fondly at Raithean.
Ezerak gazes fondly at Ayrell.
(Ezerak's eyes linger on Nayeli for several long moments, both of them smiling brightly, affection visible in every line of their expressions.)
Ezerak says to Ayrell, "Actually... would you like to go for a walk with me? I would like to show you something."
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell says, "That almost sounds ominous."
Ezerak chuckles.
Ezerak says, "It's nothing untoward, I promise."
(Ayrell offers her arm to Raithean who links her elbow with his, gently guiding her away from the light of the bonfire and around the calm shadows of the pond.)
(Ezerak walks in contented silence, smiling to have Nayeli on his arm as they make their way around the pond, finishing their ice cream as they reach the furthest shore from the crowd.)
Ayrell softly says, "It is so peaceful this evening."
Ezerak nods to Ayrell.
Ezerak says, "It is. Peaceful and... perfect."
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell says, "I cannot recall another quite so."
Ezerak nods at Ayrell, obviously agreeing with her views.
Ezerak says, "Nor can I. Which is why I... wanted to steal you away for a moment."
Ayrell peers quizzically at Ezerak.
Ayrell asks, "Is everything alright?"
Ayrell looks with concern at Ezerak.
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
(Ezerak turns to face Nayeli, gently taking her hands in his.)
Ezerak says, "I could never be anything other than alright when you are with me, Nayeli. Your very presence brings me peace. Comfort. Completion. As if I was only living a half life until you came along and made me whole."
Ayrell gazes fondly at Ezerak.
Ezerak gently kisses Ayrell on the forehead.
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell.
Ezerak smiles happily, tilting his head back to gaze at the sky while lifting his hand to point toward a cluster of stars overhead.
Ezerak asks, "Do you see that?"
(Ayrell lifts her gaze to follow the direction of Raithean's hand, smiling as the lights shift to reveal several tiny, sparkling stars that brighten into the shape of the Heart constellation.)
Ayrell says, "It is one of my favorites."
Ezerak nods.
Ezerak says, "It is one of mine, too. Although, lately, I find it holds even more meaning for me than it did before."
Ayrell ponders.
Ayrell asks, "Oh?"
(Ezerak turns back to Nayeli, taking her hands once again to gently draw her closer.)
Ezerak softly says to Ayrell, "I love you, Nayeli. I am convinced I always have and just never knew it."
Ayrell smiles adoringly at Raithean.
Ayrell softly says to Ezerak, "I love you, too, Raith. More than anything I have ever loved before."
Ezerak smiles at Ayrell, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak says, "I was hoping you might say that."
Ezerak kneels down before Ayrell.
(Ezerak reaches into the folds of his jacket and retrieves a small box, gently lifting the lid to present the contents to Nayeli. A strategically placed stage light reflects off the gemstone in the setting, causing it to shine equally as bright as the stars.)
Ayrell gasps!
Ayrell covers her mouth with her hand.
Ezerak gazes fondly at Ayrell.
Ezerak asks Ayrell, "Nayeli... will you marry me?"
Ayrell gazes happily at Ezerak.
Ayrell happily says to Ezerak, "Yes! Oh, yes, a thousand times."
Ezerak beams in loving admiration at Ayrell!
Ezerak stands up.
(Ezerak removes the ring from the box and carefully slides it onto Nayeli's finger before tucking the box away and rising to catch her up in a fierce embrace. Nayeli wraps her arms around his shoulders to return the gesture, both of them exuding love and happiness as Raithean spins her, jubilantly, in his arms.)
(Ezerak slowly brings their celebratory spin to a halt, lowering Nayeli back to her feet and leaning in to touch his forehead to hers, still holding her tenderly in his arms.)
Ezerak quietly says to Ayrell, "You have just made me the happiest man in the world."
Ayrell gazes happily at Ezerak.
Ayrell says, "And I, the happiest woman."
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell with a worshipful look on his face.
Ezerak says, "Come," he gently draws back, though only slightly, reaching to clasp her hands in his with a smile. "My heart is too full to keep this news in. We should return to the others and tell our friends of our news."
Ayrell nods emphatically.
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
Ayrell says, "Let us go swiftly."
Ayrell gazes fondly at Ezerak.
Ezerak smiles at Nayeli for another lengthy moment before turning back toward the crowd, leading Nayeli around the pond, hand-in-hand, stars in their eyes, the constellation shining even brighter overhead.
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"As the two make their way around the shore to where the crowd was left behind, the lights on the outer edges of the stage begin to fade until Nayeli and Raithean are all that can be seen, symbolic of how they feel in that moment. As if nothing else in the world exists but each other. With every step they take, the stage lights fade a little more until the curtain begins to fall, leaving the theater in darkness once again"
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"After a moment, the lone spotlight snaps back to life at the center of the stage."
Act Four
Fall
(Shaylynne bounds out from behind a curtained stage wing towards the center, the flared skirt of her eolienne gown flouncing around her with each step. She stops beneath the spotlight and turns to the audience with a cheerful smile. After a deep, calming breath, her expression softens to wistful and nostalgic, reflecting on fond memories of Fall.)
Shaylynne recites:
"The warm embrace of Summer releases Acquiesced in caress from the cool Autumn breezes Chimney stacks pipe smoky scents from our homes Greens turn to fiery reds, oranges and golds."
Shaylynne recites:
"Hearths ignite in delight and emit cheerful crackles Orchards are spotted with luscious ripe apples Fall harvests sway to wind songs they adore Fields sprawl and entangle with pumpkins and gourds."
Shaylynne recites:
"Clothing is layered as chill becomes bitter Hot libations and stews brew as we approach Winter Yearning for freedom, the leaves are aflutter A wild last dance, they break from their mothers."
Shaylynne recites:
"Floating downwards through cold airy space A colorful journey, descending with grace Browning and settling against frozen ground Where they lie in wait for the Spring to come 'round."
Shaylynne recites:
"Soon covered by blankets of powdery snow Nestled in dormant beds upon frosty pillows Autumn will end when the trees creak with ice Wave farewell with bare branches 'til the weather is nice."
(Shaylynne gathers her skirt and sinks down into a deep curtsy, her free hand twirling in a graceful gesticulation towards the audience before she stands and turns to walk back off the stage.)
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The curtain rises and the lights fade in to reveal the park once again, the vibrant spring leaves now turned to beautiful autumnal hues ranging from burnt orange, yellow, to deep red. The blankets on the grass have been replaced by several chairs alongside an aisle formed of pumpkins with careful carvings etched into them, displaying images of hearts and flowers in celebration of the ceremony the guests have arrived to see."
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The lights remain faint on most of the stage, rising more to the far right where Nayeli and her friends stand behind an elegant curtain, concealing Nayeli from view as they prepare for the wedding."
(Siendra gently places a wreath of colorful autumn leaves atop Nayeli's head while Raya drapes a pristine white bridal cape around Nayeli's shoulders to protect against the slight chill in the fall air.)
Siendra says to Ayrell, "You look so beautiful."
Siendra smiles at Ayrell.
Ayrell smiles at Siendra.
Ayrell asks, "Do you think Raithean will think so?"
Shaylynne smiles comfortingly at Nayeli.
Shaylynne says, "I don't just think. I know."
(Shaylynne gathers up Nayeli's bouquet of autumn-hued flowers and offers it to her as a finishing touch to her bridal ensemble.)
(Ayrell accepts the bouquet, clutching it tightly to her chest from both nerves and excitement.)
Ayrell says, "I still cannot believe this is happening."
Siendra chuckles.
Siendra says, "We can. You forget, we saw the way the two of you looked when you crashed into each other at the pond. It was kismet."
Ayrell smiles happily.
Ayrell dreamily says, "I think it was too. He is just so," she sighs contentedly, "perfect."
Shaylynne rolls her eyes.
Siendra rolls her eyes.
(Siendra gives a teasing laugh, joined by Raya as they lean in to give Nayeli a warm, encouraging embrace.)
Shaylynne asks Ayrell, "Are you ready to see your groom?"
Ayrell smiles.
Ayrell says, "I cannot wait."
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The lights dim slightly on the girls as they continue to finish the last of their preparations. On the left side of the stage, the lights rise to bring focus on Raithean and Emre where they stand near the cleric at the front of the bridal aisle, the guests having taken their seats in anxious anticipation."
(Senthic reaches out to brush a stray speck of dirt from Raithean's tailcoat, making sure not to damage the autumnal boutonniere pinned to one of Raithean's lapels in matching hues to Nayeli's bouquet.)
Senthic teasingly asks Ezerak, "It's not too late. You sure you're sure about this?"
Ezerak chuckles.
Ezerak says, "I've never been more sure of anything in my life."
Senthic smiles at Ezerak.
Senthic says to Ezerak, "I'm happy for you, Raith. You found your other half with this one, I'm sure of it."
Ezerak nods.
Ezerak says, "I'm sure of it, too. She is... everything I never thought I'd find in a woman."
Senthic nods in agreement.
Senthic says, "And she's about to appear from around that curtain."
(Senthic gestures to the curtain at the other end of the aisle, a soft melody drifting on the air as he takes a step back to take his place at Raithean's side.)
(Siendra appears from around the curtain as the lights on the stage all rise to bring the entire scene into focus, her soft steps carrying her down the aisle to stand opposite Raithean and Emre.)
(Shaylynne moves with a delicate grace from behind the curtain to follow Amica down the aisle, playfully tossing flower petals and colorful leaves on the grass along the way, eventually coming to stand at Amica's side, all eyes turning toward the curtain in wait of the bride.)
(Ayrell pauses to take a deep breath before stepping from behind the curtain to reveal herself to the crowd and the groom, her smile growing wider to see Raithean standing in wait of her at the front of the aisle.)
Ezerak gazes at Ayrell in wonder.
Ayrell smiles sweetly at Raithean, unable to take her eyes off him with every step she takes, focused only on reaching him until she is standing in front of him.
(Ezerak returns the fond smile Nayeli gives him as they turn to face one another, neither of them seeming to notice the cleric who takes up a position between them, reciting the familiar words of the ceremony to declare them husband and wife.)
Ayrell gazes fondly at Ezerak.
Nyrhin says to Ezerak, "You may now kiss the bride."
Ezerak smiles, revealing the dimples in his cheeks.
Ezerak leans forward.
Ezerak brushes his lips against Ayrell's in a loving kiss.
Ayrell smiles at Ezerak.
(Senthic slaps Raithean on the back.)
Senthic exclaims, "And now... we eat!"
(Senthic waves for everyone to join him as he moves to a sideboard laid out a short distance away. He comes to stand beside it, eagerly eyeing the apple pie and warm cider at one end of the spread for guests to enjoy.)
(Shaylynne raises her glass of cider in the air.)
Shaylynne says, "A toast! To our newlyweds, our friends - Raithean and Nayeli."
(Siendra raises her glass with a cheer as everyone else does the same, the soft clink audible in their celebratory salute, exhaling a contented breath from the cider's warmth and delicious flavor.)
(Senthic makes a big show of drinking his cider, casting a playful wink at Raya and Amica.)
Senthic asks, "Now, in the spirit of the day, which one of you two lovely ladies can I persuade into being my wife?"
Siendra laughs!
(Siendra gives Emre a playful shove.)
(Senthic stumbles backward, losing his balance, the impact of his fall broken only by a large pile of leaves raked over near the table. He flails briefly, the last of his cider flying into the air as he disappears into the colorful mass.)
Shaylynne laughs!
Ezerak laughs!
Ayrell laughs!
Siendra smirks.
(Senthic pops back up from the leaves, spitting a puff of orange foliage from his mouth with a laugh.)
Senthic playfully asks, "I take it that's a no?"
Senthic grins.
(Senthic takes a handful of leaves and throws them at the girls.)
Shaylynne smiles at Emre, setting her cup aside and moving over to help him from the leaves.
Senthic smiles appreciatively at Raya.
Senthic says to Shaylynne, "All joking aside, I would love to take you out for a cup of hot chocolate sometime."
Senthic glances at Ezerak.
Ezerak winks at Senthic.
Shaylynne smiles at Senthic.
Shaylynne says to Senthic, "Actually... I would like that very much."
Senthic blinks.
Senthic gazes hopefully at Shaylynne.
Senthic asks, "Really?"
Shaylynne nods.
Shaylynne smiles at Senthic.
(Senthic draws his shoulders back, lightly taking Raya's hand, his gaze becoming almost starry as he admires her in front of him, a similar starry look reflected back at him from Raya's eyes.)
Siendra smiles with an almost secretive contentment at the apparent affection blossoming between the two, as if having known all along it was there - in need of a gentle push to bring it forward.
Siendra says, "And so the seasons start again."
Siendra winks.
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The lights begin to fade on the friends, shifting through season colors of blue, green, yellow, and orange before dimming completely, winking out in their conclusion with the gentle fall of the curtain."
You hear a mezzo-soprano voice chanting from the shadows:
"The theater remains dark for several brief moments, allowing the happy ending to sink in just as the familiar spotlight returns to draw attention to the center stage once again."
Closing
(Ezerak steps out from the shadows and into the spotlight, flashing the audience a quick smile.)
Ezerak recites:
"Winter and Spring, Summer and Fall, Their love grew throughout them all. A chance meeting on a frozen lake, Now wedding vows in Fall to take."
Ezerak recites:
"From a spark first lit in the cold Winter air, The seeds of love sown in Spring by this pair. In the Summer's sun, their love began to bloom, And they harvested their love with a wedding in autumn."
Ezerak recites:
"Time marches on, and seasons turn into years, Accompanied by laughter, memories and tears. The unending cycle continues to turn, Full of beginnings, growth, and new things to learn."
(Ezerak bows to the audience before returning to the stage wings.)
Curtain Call
(Ayrell returns to the stage as the spotlight winks out and the stage lights rise, the curtain once again ascending to reveal the actors still amidst the fall leaves and scenery, facing the audience in a line a short distance behind Ayrell.)
Ayrell exclaims, "It is my pleasure to introduce this evening's cast. As our closing poet and lovestruck hero Raithean... Ezerak!"
(Ezerak steps forward, bowing deeply to the audience.)
Ayrell gestures at Ezerak.
Ayrell exclaims, "As our summer poet and Raithean's loyal friend Emre... Senthic!"
Ayrell gestures at Senthic.
Shaylynne applauds.
As Senthic begins a sophisticated genuflection, he suddenly topples forwards, his equipment flopping over his shoulders as he face plants into the floor.
Senthic winces.
Senthic stands up.
Senthic dusts himself off.
Senthic grins sheepishly.
Ayrell exclaims, "As our heroine's wintry loving friend, and poet, Amica... Siendra!"
Ayrell gestures at Siendra.
Siendra smiles and steps forward, dropping into a curtsy before retreating once more.
Ayrell exclaims, "As our heroine's autumnal ally, and poet, Raya... Shaylynne!"
Ayrell gestures at Shaylynne.
Shaylynne curtsies.
Ayrell exclaims, "As our devout priest, in his debut stage performance... Nyrhin!"
Ayrell gestures at Nyrhin.
(Nyrhin steps forward and offers a grand bow to the audience.)
Nyrhin grins.
Nyrhin waves.
(Ezerak Ezerak steps forward again, a broad smile crossing his face.)
Ezerak exclaims, "Last, but certainly not least, as Nayeli, the other half of our lovebird pair, the director and playwright of this production, the beautiful, the amazing, Ayrell Evyntine-Vershir!"
With a graceful flutter of her hands, Ayrell sinks down in a formal curtsy.
Ayrell smiles graciously at the audience.
Ayrell exclaims, "Thank you all so much for attending this evening's performance. We hope you enjoyed the show and look forward to performing for you all again soon!"
Ayrell exclaims, "The Players will be in the lobby shortly for those who would like to say hello. Thank you all again!"
Senthic waves.
Shaylynne smiles.
Ayrell curtsies gracefully.
Siendra smiles.
Siendra waves.
Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group went through a thick dark curtain.
