Sana'ati
Long-lived, deciduous tree with broad leaves and thick trunks. These trees are ancient sentinels of the forests, and often are the dwelling of choice in Elven towns and villages. Huge, spreading canopies, broad leaves for protection from sun and rain, and numerous thick vines, shoots and roots that project out from the main branches and trunk, and serve as walkways or ladders make them ideal shelters and even living complexes.
The Elvish legend of Lorethew Belgundi states that it was under an old and stately tree of this kind that the Lorethew received the Elven Ilthalo (Scrolls of Knowledge) from the god Alamhif. Thus the trees are sacred to the Elves, and wars have been fought when other races have encroached into the Sylvan Domain and felled these mighty trees. The only time they may be harvested is once dead.
Items made from Sana'ati wood are rare and precious indeed, and said to be more receptive to magical imbedding and use. Sana'ati Dyaus wood is sacred and cannot be used in alterations. Regular sana'ati wood (lower case, no Dyaus at the end) is acceptable for alterations and does not need to be provided.
