Tozu finds an unnamed Grazhir shard · on 03/10/2013 09:46 PM CDT 645
It has been 408 years, 124 days since the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer.

It is the 4th month of Shorka the Cobra in the year of the Golden Panther. It is currently spring and it is mid-afternoon. You're positive it's 10 roisaen after the Anlas of Tamsine's Toil.

You glance up at the sky. The sky is clear.

Around 7 or 8 pm CST Sunday March 10th..

I edited out a lot of combat scroll

[Fang Cove, Walkway] In spite of the otherwise rundown appearances of the small community, a simple two-story building and its furnishings dominates the area near the cove's small pier. A decorative pole displays a dragon-shaped lantern that remains unlit during the daylight hours while white wicker tables and chairs placed around the source of illumination provide a cozy atmosphere for social gatherings by the area's inhabitants. You also see the Bacon Man, a varnished oak cart emblazoned with a flying pig with several things on it, a grass and bamboo hut, a building and a towering marble archway. Also here: Artificer Tozu. Obvious paths: east, west.

You nod graciously at Tozu, giving him a polite smile.

You see Artificer Tozu Ayochi, a Gnome. Tozu has an oval face, piercing grey eyes and a bulbous nose. He has thinning raven-black

hair, with pale skin and a thin build. He is short for a Gnome. He appears to be an adult. He is in good shape.

He is wearing a black gold jadeite gwethdesuan, a black gold kyanite gwethdesuan, a satin crimson sash embroidered with the symbol of Tezirah, a tooled leather enchanter's satchel with antiqued silver buckles, a black robe shot with golden thread and some sturdy black boots.

Tozu says to you, "Greetings."

You say, "Hello."

You smile.

Tozu asks, "Are you familiar with the Cove?"

You say, "Only a little, I don't get out here often."

You ask, "Was there something in particular you were looking for?"

Tozu nods.

Tozu says, "Perhaps. This is my first time out here, it's a little further then I generally care to travel."

You say, "Is is remote."

You nod in agreement.

Tozu says, "You know how it is, your Master gives you an errand and you don't have much choice."

Tozu says, "Fortunately this one may well prove worth it if he's right."

You say, "Any aid I can give you in your search is yours."

Tozu says, "Mortom was recently traveling the Astral Plane and felt a disturbance."

You ask, "Perhaps a Grazhir Shard has washed ashore here?"

Tozu says, "That's what we're hoping, yes."

Tozu says, "There are other explanations, but that would be the simplest and most useful."

Tozu says, "Which means we're likely dealing with nothing of the sort."

Tozu says, "He was able to track the disturbance to the cove, and given that it's a new development."

Tozu says, "Washing ashore is the best theory, though someone could have moved the source as well."

Tozu asks, "Do you know the beaches around here?"

You say, "I believe there is a path to them west of here."

You say, "There are sharks in the water beyond the beach though."

Elriic just arrived.

Tozu says, "Oh joy, sharks."

Tozu says, "Let's start with the beaches that aren't shark infested."

Tozu says, "I'm currently in tune with the fallen moon, so I think I'll be able to sense our disturbance if we get close enough."

You ask Elriic, "Know Fang Cove well?"

Elriic asks you, "Somewhat. What are we looking for?"

Tozu says, "Yes, I'm looking for... well, I think I'm looking for, something that washed up on one of the beaches."

You say, "The source of a disturbance."

Tozu says, "That's the working theory, if that doesn't prove to be the case we'll have to get more creative."

Elriic says, "Ah. Well, I can help you with that I suppose."

[Fang Cove, Beach] A strip of pale sand plays home to children, pets and other wayward creatures that make their way up from the lapping waves nearby. A stone-ringed firepit and a picnic table are surrounded by crushed seashells that make soft crunching sounds when stepped upon. You also see the sand, some steps crudely crafted from gathered stones and an iron gate. Also here: Artificer Tozu and Elriic. Obvious paths: none.

Elriic says, "Lets start here, then."

Tozu says, "Let me focus for a moment."

Tozu steeples his fingers together and gestures.

The air around him seems to shudder for a moment.

Tozu kneels down.

Tozu runs the fingers of one hand slowly through the sand.

Tozu shakes his head.

Tozu says, "Nothing yet."

Tozu stands up.

Elriic asks, "Can you both swim?"

Tozu says, "It's better than some things I've done in the name of apprenticeship."

Tozu laughs!

Archmage Traim came through an iron gate.

Archmage Traim climbed down some steps crudely crafted from gathered stones.

Archmage Traim climbed up some steps crudely crafted from gathered stones.

Looks like a messaging bug here. Traim is shown climbing the steps in both directions when he arrives.

You say to Traim, "Mortom Saist sensed a disturbance within the astral plane."

You say to Traim, "He sent Tozu here to investigate the source."

Traim says, "Particularly worrisome considering the recent visit from certain folks to

Taisgath I'd think."

Tozu says, "That does factor into things, yes."

We search the shoreline a bit and are attacked by the suw bizar there, Tozu uses whole displacement, dinazen olkar and moonblade as his defense and weapons.

[Fang Cove, Shoreline] The coarse sand of the beach gradually gives way to granite boulders and smaller stones. As the rock formation rises from the ocean floor, it creates a protective bowl that contains a large coral reef to the north. Barnacles encrust the stone, promising nasty scratches for the unwary. You also see some bronze coins, some copper coins, a silver coin, some bronze coins, some copper coins, some bronze coins, some copper coins, some bronze coins, some copper coins, a silver coin, some copper coins, some bronze coins, some copper coins, a medium lead nugget, some bronze coins, some copper coins, a suw bizar that is surrounded by a shimmering shield, some steps crudely crafted from gathered stones, a suw bizar that appears stunned, a suw bizar that is surrounded by a shimmering shield and some junk. Also here: Artificer Tozu, Archmage Traim and Elriic. Obvious paths: northeast, west, northwest.

Tozu gestures at a suw bizar. A noose of darkest shadows forms in Tozu's hands. With a flick of his wrist, he sends it flying at a suw bizar! The noose loops over its left leg and cuts down into the bone! The suw bizar is stunned!

Tozu is engulfed in a ripple of light and shadow, and vanishes, only to reappear some distance away!

Tozu says, "What a wonderful beach."

Tozu sighs.

Tozu says, "I don't sense anything here."

After searching the western beaches without any luck we start in on the eastern beaches of

Fang Cove where sand crabs live.

[Fang Cove, Beach] Grains of sticky wet sand attach themselves to everything they come in contact with, including those unlucky souls who happen by. Gentle sounds of the nearby lapping waves contrast sharply with the ruckus being made by the gulls that inhabit the area. Cliffs nearby offer homes to various creatures, including some better left alone by those unable to defend themselves. You also see a golden-pawed white lynx with fierce silver-green eyes. Also here: Artificer Tozu, Archmage Traim and Elriic. Obvious paths: northeast, east, west.

Tozu kneels down.

Tozu trawls the sand.

Tozu says, "Hmm. I feel something faint. Not quite here, but it's the first hint I've gotten so far."

we search nearby

Tozu says, "I think it's below us."

[Fang Cove, Beach] Swirls of water gather in the footprints left by those passing by, while tiny crabs dart between mounds of rocks and grass. The sparse remains of a fish lay embedded in the sand along with other debris that has washed ashore. You also see a golden-pawed white lynx with fierce silver-green eyes, a basilisk head arrow, a curious silvery-blue baby bear, a mottled salt crab which appears dead, a mottled salt crab which appears dead, a mottled salt crab that appears stunned, a mottled salt crab that appears stunned and a mottled salt crab that appears stunned. Also here: Archmage Traim, Artificer Tozu and Elriic. Obvious paths: east, south, southwest.

Tozu makes a circular gesture over the sand which slowly stirs in response. The sand picks up speed before erupting in a twenty foot shower as a silvery-white shard rockets into the air. Tozu seizes the shard with a murmur, staring at it in wonder as the sand patters to the ground all about.

Tozu reverently gestures the shard towards him and it floats towards his outstretched palm obediently.

Tozu shows you a silvery-white shard. Nearly six inches long and extremely slender, the edges of the glossy shard are razor sharp.

You see Artificer Tozu Ayochi, a Gnome. Tozu has an oval face, piercing grey eyes and a bulbous nose. He has thinning raven-black

hair, with pale skin and a thin build. He is short for a Gnome. He appears to be an adult. He is in good shape.

He is holding a silvery-white shard in his right hand.

Tozu says, "That wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been."

Tozu gets an ebony chest from inside his enchanter's satchel.

Tozu puts his shard in his ebony chest.

Tozu closes his ebony chest.

Tozu puts his chest in his enchanter's satchel.

Traim asks, "Amazing find. Who will name it?"

Traim grins wryly.

Tozu says, "And it is a new fragment. Amazing."

You say, "Thats a large fragment, comparitively."

Tozu says to you, "One of the larger ones I've seen, yes."

So we make our way back to the village.

Tozu says, "As to answer your question, I imagine Mortom will."

Tozu says, "Though I hope to be part of the ritual, it's something I've never been involved in."

You say, "That would be an amazing thing to see."

Traim says, "That must be something, yes."

Traim asks, "Will it be the council's choice on the location, or the use?"

A blue-spotted crimson moongate suddenly explodes into being, shuddering softly.

Taramaine calmly steps out of the moongate.

The moongate collapses in a plume of red and blue.

You nod graciously at Taramaine, giving him a polite smile.

Traim says, "Ah."

Taramaine frowns at Tozu.

You see Guildmaster Prime Taramaine Ennis-Braun, an Elf. Taramaine has silver eyes. His white hair is shoulder length and straight, and is worn

loose. He has pale skin. He appears to be mature. He is in good shape.

He is wearing a moonstone gwethdesuan, a dusky leather tome satchel, regal robes woven from rich purple and golden silks, a belt of finely woven platinum chain and a golden medallion engraved with the seal of the Moon Mage Guild.

Elriic bows to Taramaine.

Traim smiles slightly.

Taramaine says to Tozu, "So you found Mortom's little project did you."

Tozu nods to Taramaine.

Tozu says, "Yes. These fellows here helped."

Taramaine says, "I see."

Taramaine says, "Show me."

Tozu gets an ebony chest from inside his enchanter's satchel.

Tozu says to Taramaine, "Of course."

Tozu offers Taramaine an ebony chest.

Taramaine accepts Tozu's ebony chest.

Taramaine opens his ebony chest.

Taramaine gets a silvery-white shard from inside his ebony chest.

Taramaine says, "An amazing find. Well done Tozu."

Taramaine puts his shard in his ebony chest.

Taramaine closes his ebony chest.

Taramaine puts his chest in his tome satchel.

Taramaine says to Tozu, "Thank you."

Tozu says to Taramaine, "I was to return that to Mortom."

Taramaine laughs!

Taramaine asks, "What? Is this his Guild now?"

Taramaine says, "The Shard stays with me. I'll make sure it is well Named and used."

Traim glances at Tozu.

Taramaine says to Tozu, "I'm currently pleased with you. Don't make me change my mind."

A blue-spotted crimson moongate suddenly explodes into being, shuddering softly.

Taramaine calmly glances at the moongate, then steps through.

The moongate collapses in a plume of red and blue.

Tozu sighs.

You cough.

Traim chuckles.

Tozu says, "That... could have gone better."

Elriic pats Tozu on the back.

[Fang Cove, Walkway] A fairy wind-chime plays sweet tunes while passing travelers stroll by a tiny shop. Pale ribbons stream from above its doors. A wooden bench painted snow white sits beside the shop and opposite an iron-wrought gate that leads to the beach below. You also see Furrier Gorund, a golden-pawed white lynx with fierce silver-green eyes, a curious silvery-blue baby bear that is sitting and a leaf-covered bamboo hut. Also here: Elriic, Artificer Tozu and Archmage Traim. Obvious paths: west.

Traim asks, "Or worse. Always the way of it, yes?"

Tozu nods to Traim.

Traim says, "Still. That was uncanny."

Tozu says, "At least it's recovered, and I don't think he'll do anything too foolish with a Shard."

Tozu says, "Mortom will be furious, they've been at it for awhile now."

Tozu says, "Ever since that whole misunderstanding..."

Tozu shakes his head.

Traim says, "I got that sense from the Hand of Meraud...yes."

Tozu nods to Traim.

Tozu says, "They each blame the other in private, and anyone but the guild in public."

Tozu says, "The whole thing was foolishness all around."

Tozu says, "At least the cost wasn't worse. Imagine if that thing had gone off in Shard, or Crossing or any number of other places." referring to the hand of Meraud's destruction

Traim says, "Yes indeed. But it certainly didn't seem particularly inert."

Traim says, "In either case, should you or Mortom need a hand, please let me know. I won't

speak for anyone else of course."

Tozu says, "I'm sure Mortom had his reasons for what he said." again referring to the hand

Traim smiles slightly.

Elriic nods at Traim, obviously agreeing with his views.

Traim says, "Me too."

Tozu doesn't seem to quite believe his own words.

Traim chuckles.

Tozu says, "Thank you for your aid. I'll let Mortom know of your actions, though I cannot promise a reward of anything more than cheap words."

Tozu says, "Is there anything else I can do for you all? I have a rather long trip back to

Mortom still."

Tozu says, "I suppose it will give me enough time to figure out how to break the news to him about Taramaine."

Tozu says, "Of course he likely already knows... I'm surprised his thoughtcasts aren't ringing through my mind."

You nod to Tozu.

Traim says, "Knowing Mortom, he might have expected, about three moves ahead."

Tozu says, "I wouldn't put it past him."

Tozu says, "The arrogance of those two together is scary."

Elriic says to Tozu, "I wish you luck and clear visions at the very least."

Tozu says, "We've been weak for far too long, and most don't even seem to realize it. An entire generation of mages who never knew what things were under the Council.

Tozu says, "It's a shame, but I'm rambling."

Traim says, "I'll see you all soon. Tozu, the offer for Mortom and Ilithi always stands for my part. Whatever is needed."

[Fang Cove, Dock] Crudely assembled yet sturdy just the same, the dock consists of parts of a ship's hull lashed together with bits of woven rope. A single lantern hangs from a pole at the end of the structure, swaying with the beat of the waves lapping against the ballast below. You also see a curious silvery-blue baby bear and a ladder. Also here: Elriic and Artificer Tozu. Obvious paths: south.

You say, "I can offer you a gate to Crossing if you care for it Tozu."

You gesture. A fierce blue-white glare forces you to avert your eyes for a moment. When it subsides, a blue Moongate stands before you, rippling slightly.

Tozu says, "Ah... no, I rather not."

Tozu says, "I'll take the mammoth while I think."

Elriic says to Tozu, "Good day then."

You say, "Good luck."

You grin.

You raise your hand in a quick salute.

As you cross the Moongate's threshold you are drawn through to the other side...
