When rubbing it it will change appearance and become a <color> tome of sigils.

Ripples dance across the surface of your tome, emanating from your touch and spreading as though the cover was made of liquid.  When the ripples fade you notice the tome now has a gold-hued cover

Colors appear to happen randomly and not in order.

black, copper-hued, gold-hued, blue, ash-grey, twilight-blue, blood-red, pitch-black
