Lecture

Gargoyles of many varieties are known across Elanthia. Primarily, they seem concentrated upon the mainland with few current reports from the islands of Qi'Reshalia.

It is common to identify gargoyles by the stone or material they are made of, as most are considered animated, bipedal constructs. Wings are common, though flight is not. Sandstone, onyx, black marble, granite and more variations have been documented.

A gargoyle's best weapons are its own claws and teeth -- both are viciously sharp and deadly! Because of their stony base materials, it is common for gargoyles to be unphased by both flame and ice.

Stony hides can be gathered from most gargoyles, though they often require skilled craftsmen to use well. Likewise, they're known to hoard treasures of many types, often secreting the coins and gems away into trapped chests.

As with all of Elanthia's animated enemies, great care should be taken when approaching any of the stony gargoyles; there may yet be more to discover!
