Description: The most elemental form of creating the undead, Call From Beyond compels a thanatologically prepared corpse to rise in service to its master. A servant created through this spell exists only a short time before the animating magic fails, but the ritual to raise it can be done quickly, requiring none of the laborious preparation that mark the creation of a permanent Risen.
Effect: Unknown
Example Messaging: Casting:

You feel a slight pressure behind the eyes as a swell of arcane energy builds within you. Directing the flow along ritual lines cut in the body of the troll, you connect each essential node in turn. Abruptly the power surges forth, a dam bursting as wild torrents stream into the body! You siphon off a tiny fraction of the energy and direct it into reconstructing damaged tissue, the troll's flesh knitting together before your eyes. The creature's recumbent form jerks once and then, as if awakening from slumber, its eyes snap open. A troll zombie levers itself upright and awaits your command.

A troll zombie lifts its head slightly, scenting the air.

Devices/Tattoos: No devices or tattoos documented.

Creature Notes

Troll Example: Although this creature may have once been a troll, it no longer can make that claim. The zombie's motions are somewhat jerky and abrupt, and its pallor suggests that it is clearly dead. Some force continues to give it life, but the zombie doesn't look particularly grateful.

All zombies possess the ability to use two different special attacks regardless of their source creature. All zombies have the same two attacks, they will perform minor versions of these by themselves if they are in the correct stance. You can trigger more powerful versions via Command, see the below Command List for syntax.

  • Howl: Causes all creatures in room to engage the Zombie
  • Charge: Causes Zombie to charge faced creature, can charge from missile range.

In addition, their stats will change based on the stance they are placed in.

Casting Notes

After casting the first time:

You reveal yourself. You gesture at a beisswurm.

Tingling, invisible fire erupts from the depths of your abused soul and radiates outward! Your arms are struck numb and you stumble down onto your knees, brought low before the gods.

The fire creeps steadily up your neck and explodes into wordless yet indescribably loud communion. You hear a chorus of the gods, filled with anger and horror at what you are becoming. Pain rips through your mind under the weight of divine admonishment: that you must stop now, that you must go no further down the blasphemous path or face damnation. Images of the Red Spiral blossom in the back of your mind and for a few, short moments you feel its obliterative wrath.

Yet for all the pain and divine anger that you experience in these seconds of communion, you cannot cling to the notion that this is malicious. Perhaps you will rationalize that away later, but right now, soul to soul with the divine, you experience their outrage as an expression of paternal care and suffering love.

You feel a slight pressure behind the eyes as a swell of arcane energy builds within you. Directing the flow along ritual lines cut in the body of the beisswurm, you connect each essential node in turn. Abruptly the power surges forth, a dam bursting as wild torrents stream into the body! You siphon off a tiny fraction of the energy and direct it into reconstructing damaged tissue, the beisswurm's flesh knitting together before your eyes. The creature's recumbent form jerks once and then, as if awakening from slumber, its eyes snap open. Flexing with newfound strength, a beisswurm zombie levers itself upright and awaits your command.

Divine Retribution

  • Using this spell twice, or with Spiteful Rebirth will result in becoming forsaken and a death at the hands of the Immortals. Once a forsaken, you will not suffer a death at the hand of the Immortals other than for Divine Outrage.
