Description
Sleek and sinuous, the coralwyrm possesses a long, blade-like body crowned by an angular, dragon-shaped head. Rich cobalt scales transition through vivid emerald and golden yellow into soft tangerine orange, while elaborate facial ridges frame a pair of luminous, pupilless white eyes protected by translucent nictitating membranes. A delicate, branching crest of colorful skeletal structures rises from its skull, complemented by vibrant colonies of living coral flourishing along its spine. These form a jagged forest of razor-edged formations that gradually taper toward its broad, flattened tail.
Recall
Comfortable living in warm water at depths where sunlight reaches the living forest on their backs, coralwyrms are amphibious predators more closely resembling a barracuda than a common sea snake, and are equally comfortable above and below the surface. A few particularly daring souls have boasted of keeping the colorful creatures as pets, though their notoriously foul temperaments make such arrangements increasingly perilous once they exceed a yard in length. Fully grown specimens range from two to four yards long, and their advancing age is betrayed by increasingly elaborate colonies of living coral flourishing along their backs.
The adults inhabiting Andreshlew Island's specially constructed tide pools are descendants of escaped pets whose enthusiastic breeding necessitated their eventual containment.
The azureous coralwyrms are known to cast the Geyser spell.
They are known to carry loot in locked boxes.
