Black leeches do not require 300 ranks of FA to tend away. I was doing it with less than 150 with 100+ perception and around 25 stamina. I would tread very carefully so that you don't get more than 2 or 3 sucking on you at one time because the vitality hits are much more powerful, but they aren't that hard to pull off unless you get them on the back or eyes (neither of which happens, I believe, if you're standing up and walking around).--Symphaena 14:47, 28 September 2008 (CDT)
