Lecture

A soft light blossoms in the very center of the crystal, and begins to fill your mind with the knowledge of House of the Black Fang.

Centuries ago, the Elothean Houses of the Marching Lotus and the Black Fang were wiped out in the Elven-Human War. The House of the Marching Lotus was an Elothean House eliminated during the Elven-Human War. The only survivors, those unable to fight, were assimilated into other Elothean Houses, while the Black Fang were assumed completely destroyed. The two houses are celebrated each year by Elotheans as a reminder of the terrible plague that war can be.

Contrary to the published history, a handful of remaining Black Fang warriors were surreptitiously recruited into the ranks of the Melyo Rensh'a. The House of the All-Seeing Eye was seen as nothing more than a rumor. However, It was whispered amongst less-sophisticated courts that the reason Elotheans rarely resort to war is because of a secret society amongst them that takes care of the dirty business of intimidation and assassination.

Rumors suggested that there is actually a fourth member of the Ferdahl's council of commanders -- that the Three are actually a Four -- and that he or she is called simply the Melyo Rensh'a. The Elotheans who work for the Melyo Rensh'a, it is said, can be identified by their black hair and pale eyes, and it is said that children born of the Elotheans with black hair inevitably

Unfortunately, the integration of the Melyo Rensh'a to the court integration soured over time, and political tensions within the ranks of the Melyo Rensh'a hit a divisive tipping point when a steadfast adherence to secrecy contributed to the murder of Ferdahl Kukalakai and the occupation of Shard by the Outcast army. An embittered traitor finally emerged, and the Melyo Rensh'a was assassinated by one of his own five generals, Ilva the Shrike of Dergati, who then launched a coup to revive the vengeful and warmongering House of the Black Fang from which she descended.

Supplementing her numbers with vicious lowlifes culled from Undershard, Iilva established a growing encampment east of Shard in Boleausun Bayou, while the outnumbered Melyo Rensh a loyalists fell back to their last defensible point, a hidden flying garden known as Ashala'taman, and began earnestly recruiting the help of brave adventurers in the year 423 AV. Adventurers continued this battle until 427 AV. The fate of the Black Fang, Boleausun Bayou, and Ashala'taman are currently unknown.

The light and crystal sound of your sanowret crystal fades slightly as you come to the end of the knowledge about House of the Black Fang. You feel quite enlightened, if a bit mentally tired.
