Bloodstone is a mineral aggregate heliotrope and is a form of chalcedony. It is a mixture of quartz and occurs mostly as jasper or chalcedony. A classic bloodstone is opaque green jasper with red inclusions of hematite that may resemble spots of blood, hence the name.
