Allye gets a scarlet origami bird from inside her market bag.

Allye gets a wyndewood tambourine tied with bardic blue ribbons from inside her market bag.

The metal discs on Allye's wyndewood tambourine jingle merrily as she shakes it.

Allye nods.

Allye says, "Okay, now..."

Allye waves.

Allye says, "Rico, greet the lovely people."

Allye pulls on her scarlet origami bird's feet, it bobs its head as its wings flap.

A scarlet origami bird says, "Tweet tweet, jerks."

Allye gasps!

Allye frowns sternly at the little bird.

Allye says, "Rico! Don't be rude."

A scarlet origami bird says, "FINE. Hi."

Allye's face lights up with joy.

Allye says, "Rico and I are going to sing a duet for you! He's a songbird, you see."

(Allye squints at the bird as she angles its head into a droop. Tiny snores echo from the paper creature.)

Allye coughs.

(Allye's bird straightens back up.)

A scarlet origami bird asks, "Is it over?"

Allye exclaims, "No, it's just starting! Here we go!"

(Allye raps the tambourine in her free hand against her thigh, tapping out the beginnings of a bright, rollicking pattern.)

(Allye sways along with the infectious rhythm, waving her bird from side to side.)

Allye loudly says, "This is called "The Cat and the Cleric," by Sher Sureshot."

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

   "There was a young cleric
    Whose first name was Erric
    Who worshipped the goddess Tamsine.
    A goat bore his load
    As he wandered the road..."

Allye glances at a scarlet origami bird.

A scarlet origami bird says, "On the way to the shrine of Tamsine."

Allye beams!

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

   "A thief at an inn
    Stole his money within --
He grew wroth with the goddess Tamsine.
    He went outside and sat,
And he spied a sleek cat..."

A scarlet origami bird says, "Like the pet of the goddess - ugh wait, a cat? Really? Yikes."

Allye glares at a scarlet origami bird.

(Allye loudly whispers to her bird, "That's not how it goes!")

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

   "His hands made a bee-line
    And snatched up the feline
For revenge on the goddess Tamsine,
In his sack went the critter,
But he called down the bitter..."

A scarlet origami bird says, "Wrath of the goddess Tamsine."

A scarlet origami bird says, "Though if you ask me he's doing the world a favor."

You frown at the little bird, shaking her head.

You sing in a soprano voice:

   "Then Harawep hastened,
    And Erric was chastened
    For provoking the goddess Tamsine.
    Harawep, fierce and fright'ning,
    Let fly with her lightning..."

A scarlet origami bird says, "To serve the great goddess Tamsine. Poor guy.."

Allye clears her throat.

(Allye frantically whispers to the bird, "No more commentary, Rico!")

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

   "Erric's tears dropped and drizzled
For his goat (who was sizzled,
The revenge of the goddess Tamsine).
    He took the scared tabby
From the sack, old and shabby..."

A scarlet origami bird says, "To placate the stupid cat goddess."

(Allye raises her eyebrows in a panic, hissing, "That doesn't. even. rhyme! Plus blasphemy, Rico! Did you miss the part about the lightning?")

(Allye glances upwards nervously. The song's rhythm continues well past the next verse with no vocal accompaniment before a worried Allye chimes back in.)

Allye nervously sings in a soprano voice:

   "He served the fried goat
On a bun made of oat
To the tabby so dear to Tamsine.
    The cat filled its belly,
    Finished up with mint jelly..."

A scarlet origami bird says, "This song is dumb."

Allye begins an eerie, warbling wail of despair.

You exclaim, "It's "And purred the song of Tamsine!" It's not that hard!"

(Allye shakes the paper bird violently.)

You hysterically exclaim, "You had ONE JOB! Just one, Rico!! How?? Why! I MEAN-!"

Allye's eyes bug out!

(Allye's gaze swerves desperately around the area, as if she's suddenly remembering where she is. With a final, hurried flick of her wrist, the tambourine jangles and the song hastens to a quick end.)

Allye forces a grin and laughs nervously.

Allye bobs a quick curtsy.

(Allye tilts her now crumpled paper bird so that it gives a tiny bow.)
