Introduced in Tuesday Tidings 162.
Description
Although superficially it resembles a mage's familiar, closer examination reveals a crackling aura surrounding it. Grey fur covers its body and bloodshot eyes stare back at you with malevolence. Sharp ivory-colored teeth jut from its mouth and keen-edged claws cap the tiny limbs.
Recall
The origins of the undead gerbil are lost in time, with only the evidence of their warped existence to provide any clues as to their history. They are known to call in others of their kind when threatened, and this "gerbil swarm" can unbalance unwary adventurers. Amazingly, although they are not large, they are known to hoard small shiny things. Some claim that they are the product of a warrior mage who fell in love with a necromancer and either through some mischance or by design created a race of undead familiars. Others claim that some god created them to chastise overbearing mages and as a way to reign in the worst excesses of that guild.
