[General] Srinoja thinks, "I wish dearly to thank the kind people of Aesry for their generous donations this evening. May we share their prosperity and their magnanimity with the masses."

[General] Nefis thinks, "Perhaps some of the Rathan citzens are not near enough to hear my words. I will repeat here for the sake of maximum reach."

[General] Zehira thinks, "I do hope Aesary was very very good to you"

[General] Khearkrash thinks, "how nice of Aesry"

[General] Nefis thinks, "People of Ratha! I come to you with a generous offer. A gesture to you to raise your voices in support or against the actions of one who would herald your End."

[General] Nefis thinks, "I speak of the Commodore Khoheke of House Moglin who seeks to wage a crusade against the Lich of Basalt Isle. All in the name of righteousness. But what of the cost?"

[General] Nefis thinks, "While it is his ships and his money, it will be your sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, that will suffer the consequences of these actions. This I promise you."

[General] Nefis thinks, "I remind you of the last war with a Lich, some 40 years ago. Have not enough generations of people perished in wars already? This is not something any should wish to see repeated. And yet "

[General] Nefis thinks, "Commodore Khoheke wishes exactly that. He would challenge one who has been content to merely reign over his own Island. One who has not sent his forces to invade your lands."

[General] Nefis thinks, "And for what? Or even more concerning, for *whom*? The Commodore makes pacts with at least two necromancers, himself!"

[General] Nefis thinks, "What else might be pulling his strings? What false idols might he be hiding in his warehouses? He has the audacity to claim righteousness, and yet one of those allies even wields a weapon bound with a demon!"

[General] Nefis thinks, "There is no righteousness here, only greed. Hunger for wealth. Hunger for magic. Hunger for Power. Do not be fodder to feed the avarice of this man and his house."

[General] Nefis thinks, "So, once again. We will make an offer. Deliver Khoheke. Abandon this foolish crusade. And the Lichlord Jeihrem may have mercy."

[General] Nefis thinks, "Do not? And we will do what we must to protects ourselves and our homes. You will know despair, for the armies of the dead will rise. And your city will burn."

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "Condensed version. Blah blah blah, something about stuff, blah blah blah."

[General] Nefis thinks, "Think hard about this, citizens, but do not tarry. You only have a few days to contemplate our offer."

[General] Glorgg thinks, "Totally had me until, may have mercy. I only deal with certainty."

[General] Navesi thinks, "Pay no heed to the words of the Perverse. Sir Khoheke's mission is righteous and necessary, and he now has the backing of Prince Belirendrick of Zoluren. We will rid the world of this lich and his evil."

[General] Rifkinn thinks, "you think that some of us war with you for land, money and vanity... Necromancer? "

[General] Penrhyn thinks, "Why waste your breath making an offer that you certainly know won't be accepted? Just for the fun of hearing yourself talk?"

[General] Nefis thinks, "I believe you all are misguided. On one hand you say necromancers are terrible, but on the other, openly consort with them. Hypcorisy at it's finest! But is the people that pay the price of this. And it is those I appeal to"

[General] Zehira thinks, "it's not necessary and you have no idea why you do it. You all have two neromancers in your own midst. You all are misguided fools"

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "Better a misguided fool than a foolish bloviator."

[General] Srinoja thinks, "As the locals were so welcoming, I left a number of my crew on that lovely little island, to celebrate the generosity of the land. Say hello if you see them. My evening in Aesry was so successful, I may even see what may be transpiring in Ratha. We can see who has the more welcoming locals!"

[General] Zehira thinks, "mayhaps talk to the war mages that opened a portal that allowed invasions of some electric beings"

[General] Nefis thinks, "What is the price of one man vs that of an entire city, nation, World? You think once roused from His Island, petty words and beliefs will save you? Did that stop Lyras?"

[General] Saragos thinks, "I hope that everyone sees - this is why we must move now against the Lich. His strength gathers by the day. This man reminds you of a war with another Lich that killed a THIRD of our population. He threatens to scour Ratha."

[General] Srinoja thinks, "Besides, I hear Ratha might have some unusual out-of-towners as dinner guests tonight. Apparently they heard that quite a few visitors had a blast down at Kygar's on the docks not long ago."

[General] Saragos thinks, "What demands will they make when they are stronger? How far will they demand you sink in servitude to demons that seek to devour our world? How far will your mortgate yourselves to avoid that threat? This is no idle talk. This man has threatened the undead scourge NOW."

[General] Saragos thinks, "But they speak to us this way out of fear. They know that we can be successful against their attempts, because we certainly know that they have no concern for mortal life."

[General] Rifkinn thinks, "The people of Ratha, close you eyes and cover your ears to these lies and manipulations. but one thing, Do as the Necromancer says and do not forget the Devourer and what she bought to these lands."

[General] Zehira thinks, "How does consorting with necromancers do for you war mage? That's ok right, because you say it is?"

[General] Collain thinks, "I'll never respect Ratha again if the show their bellies like this."

[General] Glorgg thinks, "Well said Rifkinn, team up with your enemy now, you can always kill them after. Just the way of things."

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "It's funny how many of you speak about what Lyras did, how devastating the cost was. Yet while you sat in your northern towns fighting the rabble, Ilithi carried the burden for you and brought about her end."

[General] Zehira thinks, "and don't forget they consort with two necromancers now, one of whome has a demon whispering in his ear"

[General] Srinoja thinks, "I suspect the guests that are coming your way drink something else. From how they looked on their way off that Island, I'd say they have plenty of hands to hold goblets, though. Stay safe, friends! I'm off to count my earnings."

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "They also like to forget the fact that Lyras was trained by the warrior mage guild. I'd guess that might be where she learned how to open gateways to other planes and consort with beings she had no business with."

[General] Nefis thinks, "Think what you like, Saragos. But it is not fear that drives me. But compassion. I know what it is like to lose that which is most dearest to me. In fact, I would do most anything to have it undone. So I counsel to not allow that to happen today. Do not incite another war."

[General] Collain thinks, "Sure is a lot of whataboutism."

[General] Voranos thinks, "Last I checked a ruler in one of those northern kingdoms gave his all and set an example which many of his people rallied behind to be fair. The issue is not Ilithi against another province but yet again the threat of another Lich against Elanthia."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Your attempts to twist ears against us are amusing. We work with any who would seek to purge those who offer up our worlds on a silver platter to demons. I know it would be conveneient for you if we simply sat and waited to be devoured, but that's not the way that it's going to go."

[General] Kelneth thinks, "it's almost as though getting along with necromancers might have been a bad idea after all. What a surprise."

[General] Zehira thinks, "again war mage, one that sits upon his Isle and does nothing. You all are so misguided you took what one person or two told you and now seem to have a with hunt going on."

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "Prince Vorclaf did give his life, while the Ilithi courtiers protected his wife and our militia led the charge with him. His own militias sat that one out, just like they did when we finally defeated her. Not to mention the potion that helped strip her power which we got from necromancers."

[General] Collain thinks, "The man who soils himself, even left alone, eventually stinks too much to tolerate."

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "I'm not sure but is this bards pontificating or some other finger waggler non-sense? I need another ale to understand, me thinks."

[General] Zehira thinks, "so it's ok for you all to work with the filth that necromancers are when it suits your need?"

[General] Nefis thinks, "And what your necromancer's use of a demon? Is that not the antithesis of what you stand for? Do you even know the difference between Them? Your moral highground is moot"

Madigan asks, "Well, let's go do bad things to bad people?"

You grin at Madigan.

[General] Collain thinks, "Some would assert that is risk assessment in action. Others would simply shrug pragmatically."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Let's not be facetious, and let us meet as honest enemies instead. Are you actually claiming that the Lich does not consort with demons, Zehira? Because we know the threat that they hold to our world, regardless of how you may wish to distract us."

[General] Saragos thinks, "It's not going to work. Not this time. The hammer is coming for him."

[General] Navesi thinks, "Since when have we has a people suffered liches to live? Since when have we trusted them to sit prettily and never harm anyone, never send their minions to do their bidding?"

[General] Kelneth thinks, "Since for a long time now probably."

[General] Zehira thinks, "Oh I am not saying he does or he doesn't I'm not saying I do or I don't, what I am saying is that he stays on his island, he does not leave it and you all act as if he's going to pop out of the shadows and say boo."

[General] Collain thinks, "I think liches exist and are largely past the living stage of things."

[General] Emyrose thinks, "It seems strange that Navesi who pushed toward opening a portal that caused the death of more people than the Lich has in recent memory, despite being warned otherwise, is one of the most vocal about this attack. Perhaps she wants the eyes off her?"

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "You all aren't keeping time to the zills. Focus. One, two, three. One, two, three."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Again, your attempts to distract won't work. Lyras was on the other side of the Barrier. Until she wasn't. There can be no other outcome of allowing demons to enter our world other than its destruction. You cannot hide behind feeble statements that, 'Well, you won't get eaten *yet*'."

[General] Nefis thinks, "I have issued my ultimatum. The people of Ratha have their opportunity. I know I can never convince those who seek their own ends. But the people who will suffer the most deserve to make a call. And if they do not...I cannot stop what the Lichlord will do. It will be too late"

[General] Zehira thinks, "no, she likes eyes all over her, is she not taking credit for the invasions and lightening storms?"

[General] Nyctus thinks, "My quesiton is, if the lich stays on his little island, why do we want to send a bunch of fresh bodies to him that he'll just animate after he slaughters everyone?"

[General] Nuzack thinks, "I think there should be fire along with the dinner guests"

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "Blood for fire. Now that's the first reasonable thing I've heard Nuzack."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Nefis, I am a living being who wishes to continue living, and wishes my children to live. You know that there can be no peace here, because as dangerous as any attack on the Lich may be, turning our eyes away is simply a slow form of suicide."

[General] Navesi thinks, "Our plans and our reasons will be revealed, in good time and to the right people. It should be enough for anyone of good heart that we fight the undead, that we join House Moglin and Prince Belirendrick. Any who want to learn more of the evils of this lich are welcome to contact me."

[General] Nyctus thinks, "Do we have evidence this lich is plotting an attack? Or are we just assuming that because he's a lich?"

[General] Zehira thinks, "then why for near 16 years did you turn your eyes away until...now?"

[General] Purnay thinks, "why aren't you naming the liches in their midst?"

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "The Prince aligned himself with those who threatened his people? It's a shame he isn't more like his father."

[General] Nefis thinks, "Saragos, then you have an impossible task. If it's martyrdom you seek, you will have it. But what of those children when your corpse is dust? What if you get consumed by Them? One need only listen to Osven's wails within Maelshyve's soul to know it does not end well, even with success"

[General] Zehira thinks, "oh yes please go see Navesi fore she has met and spoke with Lord Jeihrem and knows everything he's ever done. Ever, do make sure you run straight to her."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Just because you put off repairing your roof for a few seasons doesn't mean you're then obligated to let it rot until it falls in on you in the middle of winter. There's will now, to get done what needs doing. And we'll do it."

[General] Zehira thinks, "or you'll die trying"

[Ratha, Port Walk]
Groups of urchins clothed in filthy rags scramble about the badly pitted street, screaming with delight as they pelt passersby with small, hard stones. Occassionally a rock connects with a target, drawing blood and howls of anger. But when a guard shows up the children melt away, running swiftly through the alleyways they know better than anyone else.
You also see a tavern.
Also here: Sir Madigan, Rifkinn, and Art Historian Zymi.
Obvious paths: east, southwest, west.

A dull droning begins from offshore.

Madigan raises an eyebrow.

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "Now it's getting interesting and to the meat on the bone."

You ask, "Do you hear that?"

Madigan nods to you.

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "There is a lich on an island consorting with extra planar beings, and some warrior mages does it right here on the mainland. Commit to the one that hasn't shown any expansionist tendancies, that makes sense."

The drone begins to escalate, louder and louder.

[General] Zehira thinks, "yes it's ok that they opened a portal, let beings through, let people get killed. Did I miss anything?"

[Ratha, Port Walk]
A high lectern, reachable by a narrow set of steep steps, stands squeezed between two long-disused buildings to the north. Several men take turns shouting out destinations, cargoes, quantities and prices to the jostling crowd, as messenger runners constantly whisper information in their ears. Passing merchants stop, listen intently for a while, then continue swiftly on their way.
Also here: Sir Madigan.
Obvious paths: east, west.

From offshore, a faint cloud begins to form, gathering.

[General] Zehira thinks, "yes it's ok that they opened a portal, let beings through, let people get killed. Did I miss anything?"

[General] Rhadyn thinks, "Nope, Zehira. Sounds like a good weekend to me."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Nefis, if I die, I will do so doing everything I can to prevent the destruction of this world. We may not be able to stop his efforts, but I'll damn well go to my grave fighting against the beast coming for my children rather than offering them up into its maw."

The cloud begins to extend tendrils, appendages reaching, and it begins to move towards the shoreline!

You say, "Holy..."

[General] Saragos thinks, "You offer no real choice at all, only a certain, later death against a possible one now."

[General] Emyrose thinks, "And yet, Saragos, you do not worry about the health and lives of your children while helping your wife rip holes between planes and allowing dangerous creatures to escape?"

[Local] Greifen thinks, "well it seems a storm is brewing on Ratha. right now."

As the cloud approaches, it begins to break apart, stretching across a wide portion of the sky, and the droning intensifies, deeper and deeper!

[General] Zehira thinks, "a storm is brewing on Ratha"

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "They sound like those who beat the drum for Khurek too while that monster ravaged innocent people in the name of the Temple. Look how that turned out for the inquisitor."

The drone becomes nearly deafening, and a wretched stench wafts from the ocean.

[Local] Greifen thinks, "smells foul"

The cloud approaches, scattering wide! At once, the droning suddenly ceases, and all is quiet!

You say, "I'm calling everyone I can."

A roar of skittering and yowling assaults your ears!

You cover your ears with your hands.

Madigan loudly says, "Bloody loud."

You loudly say, "I've never heard anything like this."

Something resembling a large locust descends from the sky in numbers, its superfluous limbs contorting at unnatural angles as it comes toward you -- its fingers ending in chitinous talons, and a robe covering its unnatural exoskeleton. A vacant expression fills its eyes, as if it is directly controlled by another being. Its head lurches unnaturally to the side, and it makes a screeching call. Other robed figures follow it, pulling away from the swarm that they came from!

A feral mutilated banyakea shuffles into the area with a pained look on its face.

A robed wretched banyakea shuffles into the area with a pained look on its face.

<snipped fighting>

[Local] Nefis thinks, "The Lichlord has withheld is wrath so far. Perhaps this is a taste of what is to come."

[Local] Zehira thinks, "foul in what way"

Tempest Knight Saragos just arrived.

[Local] Greifen thinks, "foul in that it stinks and smells like death"

[Local] Zehira thinks, "and where is this storm?"

Hollow Nuzack just arrived.

Rifkinn begins to advance on Nuzack.

Hollow Nuzack staggers east.

[Local] Greifen thinks, "perhaps I am under some spell."

[Local] Zehira thinks, "well if you see something you are not under any spell"

[General] Madigan thinks, "Rathians, on me on the first tier. Fight for your island."

[Local] Greifen thinks, "twisted mutilated beings.. perveted to someones vile will I see"

Rifkinn begins to advance on Nuzack.

Nuzack strikes a piece of black flint with a dagger with a burned leather hilt while holding it over a larch stick causing sparks to fly. Some of the sparks land on the larch stick and with a few quick breaths in the right place Nuzack manages to get a flame going.

The burning stick glows brighter until it begins to burn steadily.

Rifkinn leaps from hiding and ambushes Nuzack!

>look nuz
You see Hollow Nuzack, a S'Kra Mur.
Nuzack has slitted eyes, one dark and the other ale-brown, green-brown scales and a stubby tail.
He appears to be young.
He has a tattoo of a skull and crossbones on his chest.

He appears to be stunned! Other than that...

He has faint scuffing to the right arm, a severely swollen and deeply bruised back with ribs or vertebrae protruding out from the skin compounded by a shattered back with gaping wounds, faint scuffing to the right eye.

He is bleeding with widespread discoloration and rigidity in the back and severely from the back.

He is holding a dagger with a burned leather hilt in his right hand and a piece of black flint in his left.
He is wearing a helm hideously designed like a fleshless skull, some dark blood-stained leathers, a gyrating eddy of dim light inside an open puzzle box marked with strange symbols, an elaborately wound black chestwrap oozing with blood, some polished gold-plated knuckles, a bloodstained apron and some bloodstained steel-toed boots with tarnished skull buckles.

Rifkinn squints at Nuzack.

Rifkinn says, "Let the others finish him."

<still fighting banyakeas this whole time>

[General] Gridaksma thinks, "If house Moglin can't protect their own homeland why are they trying to take another island? If they can't handle the pirates they should go to their own council and perhaps the Redthornes might show them how it is done."

[General] Rifkinn thinks, "Nuzack, i will finish you if you come back"

[Local] Zehira thinks, "are they attacking you?"

[General] Nuzack thinks, "promise?"

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell just arrived.

[Local] Zehira thinks, "you have nothing to worry about, he never finishes anything."

[Local] Greifen thinks, "they arent here to have tea"

Ayrell says, "Sorry for the delay."

You say to Ayrell, "You came, that's what's important."

Arcane World Ender Voranos just arrived, leading his group.

You say, "There was one necromancer running around, who attacked Madigan, Nuzack. Keep an eye out."

Greifen moves into the area, hunting down Madigan.

Greifen waves.

Obvious paths: east, west.

[General] Praxiuz thinks, "is it really that serious in Ratha I lived there for ages"

[General] Purnay thinks, "who's winning?"

[General] Druesyllia thinks, "not you Purnay!"

[General] Eljer thinks, "Inquiring minds want to know"

[General] Nyctus thinks, "Or is this necromancer drama?"

[General] Druesyllia thinks, "you probably still won't be winning!"

[General] You hear your mental voice echo, "Srinoja has released creatures from the Basalt Isle on Ratha. We are defending now."

Madigan says, "Rifkinn, keep the rifffaff off us sir."

[General] Zehira thinks, "did she? How did SHE do that?"

[General] Purnay thinks, "are they fun to dance with? who's gotta gate?"

[General] Nyctus thinks, "Oh well if they're attacking us then I'll do what I can to help."

[General] Saragos thinks, "Let's not play coy. She clearly knew about them."

[General] Nyctus thinks, "I can Rift people once there."

Suddenly, a ship in the distance bearing the standard of House Moglin sails into view, and fires a salvo of grapeshot into the hovering cloud!

[General] Zehira thinks, "but she sent them? She sent our Lord's creatures?"

Turning slightly to broadside, the House Moglin flagship drops sail, and a single figure on the prow can be seen, arms raised. A brilliant disc of light coalesces before the figure, and begins to spin rapidly!

After a long moment, the disc erupts outward, streaking through the cloud, dispersing it entirely! The drone ceases, finally affording some peace and quiet!

The ships sail out to sea, vanishing around the bend of the shoreline.

You ask, "Are you seeing this?"

[General] Zehira thinks, "if it's that easy to speak to them and get them to cross the ocean, maybe I'll try it. Oh wait.."

You say, "House Moglin just sent us a giant help."

Madigan lets out a loud "Huzzah!"

Ayrell nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.

[General] Nuzack thinks, "Started a fire in the vault on Ratha"

[General] Madigan thinks, "Well done Rathians. You defended the island."

Ayrell says, "I would call this a successful effort."

Madigan says, "Top notch work folks

[General] Zehira thinks, "yes well done. Now do not forget our demands, or He will not be as forgiving the next time. Mark our words"

[General] Saragos thinks, "Understood. You demand that we all wait quietly for our turn to be eaten. Loud and clear, words marked."

[General] Pfanston thinks, "so we can come up with something that burns em to a cinder?"

[General] Zehira thinks, "oh no war mage, you have enough trouble with the beings you let attack. I meant the Isle of Ratha, they have heard our demands."

[General] Vladmirr thinks, "Run back to your island and hide or regroup, it matters not. Justice is coming."

[General] Zehira thinks, "I'm sorry who are you"

[General] Vladmirr thinks, "Oh where are my manners. Come to the docks and I'd be happy to arrange an introduction."

[General] Zehira thinks, "docks? No where near any docks. Are you going swimming?"

[General] Lilliwea thinks, "I always get a kick out of how brave people are until they get their lips handed back to them on a bloody handkerchif, then it's always.. quick, everyone.. attack the people we don't understand."

[General] Vladmirr thinks, "Oh no, I'm just strolling along Ratha's Port Walk dispatching this supposed...threat."

[General] Lilliwea thinks, "one thing i've learned about war, it's always the weak ones that get sent out first while the real threat sits back in the shadows watching, observing."

[General] Zehira thinks, "a threat! oh no! I wouldn't know anything about that. "

[General] Lilliwea thinks, "i don't see what the big deal is to be honest, didn't we sit down and work past all this already. not sure why people choose to live in the past. Hate is a pwerful thing, I'll never understand why people hide behind it and try to make it look like justice."
